 Friendly owners and pigs going to miss them.
The facilities were excellent except for chemical and grey waste.
Brilliant views. Lovely dark skies.
Very narrow lanes leading to site. But good pub and shop.
Bottom of site gets a bit soggy after rain.
Would visit again if in the region.

Best to visit in good weather. We arrived after a lengthy spell of rain and the campsite was extremely muddy. Take wellies or walking boots because you need to walk across grass to reach the electric hook up/water (and I ended up with my shoe 3 inches deep in mud).
To be fair, we had been warned not to drive on the grass or we’d get stuck. The hardstandings are quite old and narrow and only just wide enough for a 2 berth caravan - there was just enough space to place our caravan steps (we had to step off sideways to avoid the grass). I’m sure we’d have enjoyed the site more if it hadn’t been for the weather! Our pitch needed 3-4 inches of chocks on one side to level the caravan.
The site is surrounded by lovely countryside and is quiet and dark (so must be good for star gazing!). There is a useful shop and post office on site.
There are spacious shower rooms (3, I think), with shower, toilet and basin in one room, and a dishwashing area just outside.
The site might be better suited to campervans because the roads immediately around Ansty are quite narrow for towing a caravan. (We met a speeding HGV coming the other way around a blind bend) We were given useful advice to approach the site from Melbourne St Andrew to minimise time on narrow roads. (NB: If trying to follow the signs to the Fox Inn at Ansty from Melbourne St Andrew, keep an eye open for a knife/fork sign at one junction; we couldn’t see any mention of ‘the Fox’ and missed the turning)
There is a nice pub, the Fox Inn, immediately opposite the site entrance that is open all day, serves good food (very large portions!) and is dog friendly.
We visited Athelhampton House and Gardens, which has an interesting history, is full of original features and has nice gardens. There is a small bar and cafe/restaurant there but we didn’t try that.
Our score for site location is lower simply because of the narrow roads. Once there the surrounding countryside is lovely.

Great little site. Didn’t actually meet anyone connected to the site but we are quite self sufficient so it wasn’t a problem and had no problems with the pitch.
There was a phone number available on the reception door if anyone did need anything.
The amenities are great with individual bathrooms and the pub across the road, ‘The Fox’, which is owned by the farm is definitely worth a visit. The food was excellent.
Great place if you like peace and quiet and we spent the Saturday on one of the walks recommended in their own walking guide which included a visit to Milton Abbas.

Simply perfect! A little piece of heaven!
This campsite provides ideal conditions with superb views, an amazing shop, brilliant shower and washing up block and close proximity to a wonderful pub!
What more do you need?
The sound of sheep and cattle makes the experience complete!
One not to be missed.

This is a small sloping site in glorious countryside, on a working farm complex with farm shop (including post office!) and a very pleasant pub serving food.
The weather prior to our trip had been horrendously wet and the site owner contacted us a few days prior to departure to explain how wet the site was and to offer a full refund if we chose not to travel - a very reasonable offer.
However we chose to continue with our plans as we had a new van to try out and were restricted on dates. In fact, the weather was glorious for our stay and we had some fabulous walks, following the very helpful instructions / maps in the ‘Ansty Ambler’ on sale in the shop. The site was indeed wet, but we managed.
Minor issues: the hard standings are quite narrow and not fully levelled - this would be a definite improvement, as would a designated grey waste disposal point.
The chemical disposal point is very close to one of the other hardstandings - we would have been upset if we had had to make camp there.
Overall, the site felt a bit like a work in progress - a little disappointing for £35 a night.

This is a quiet, dog friendly, campsite with excellent toilet and shower facilities.
There is a shop and post office on site. Just across the road is The Fox pub and restaurant which belongs to the campsite.
The site itself is a bit off the beaten track but well worth a visit.

Unfortunately due to several days heavy rain the site was very muddy.
Shower block/toilets were clean and reception very helpful and friendly.
We had New Years Eve at the Fox Inn opposite (part of the same company as campsite) and had an excellent meal and really enjoyed our evening.
Staff were very efficient and friendly and nothing seemed too much for them to do for us.

Bit of a strange one this site!
Family based working farm which has allocated an area of land for camping.
Unusual layered hill side approach to the camping site with limited electrical and water points. Strangely has non standard water taps making it impossible to connect even if you want to!
Pub across road owned by same family which is nice looking and stocks good beer!
However it is definitely not a gastro pub as described as the food quality is mid range pub chain type standard so be prepared to travel for great food.
The whole concept of working farm, campsite and pub is a great idea and is worth a visit but I feel attention to detail is missing which is probably down to higher management!

Love this place. We are in our 60’s with a Motorhome 7m length.
Lots of walks from the site
Quiet, no traffic noise, scenic, loads of space and lovely owner and staff. Pub is on the doorstep and good. Farm shop is also good with reasonable prices
I would say coming from the north the roads are very narrow but quiet, much better roads leaving the site to the south.
We will return one day. A big thumbs up from us. Thanks to all staff

We stayed here at the end of the school half term week so had to endure several noisy family groups whose children were often better behaved than the parents.
The campsite is well structured with plenty of space and views across open fields opposite. The facilities are spotless. The owners well organised and even greeted us by name on arrival.
The pub at the entrance (The Fox) is a bonus. Good ale and food, although struggling with staff as lockdown measured are relaxed.
The Ridgeway walk from Shillingstone to Cerne Abbas is amazing.
Great campsite, thank you
