One word- wow! This site wins hands down for me, if nothing else, on the location alone!
Now I will say here- it is advertised as a basic campsite with composting toilets, and cold water tap with a washing up sink. If you are after more luxurious accommodation- this is not the place for you.
Also there are no public roads leading in or out of the area- even though there are minor roads and vehicles present in and around the village. The only way you can get here is either on foot or across the water. I took the Mallaig-Inverie ferry but is very accessible by small boat, kayak etc.
The camping area is nice and flat, right on the shoreline by Loch Nevis. Plenty of space for a good few tents.
The view out over the water is in my opinion one of the finest but lots will find better!
There is a shop, post office and café in the village. And very importantly- a very nice pub (the Old Forge). Good food and beer.
I could go on about this place, instead I’ll just say it’s highly recommended if you enjoy the basic, back to nature feel.
I will return.

The location is fantastic - really beautiful.
The pitch was comfortable and the facilities provide what is needed.
I enjoyed staying at the Knoydart campsite.
I was there on my own so can't comment on child friendliness, but have given a score.

Spent a night here as part of a canoe trip around Loch Nevis.
Excellent, community run site with basic facilities.
Pitches overlook the loch and it’s a 10 minute walk to the excellent pub, The Old Forge.
No vehicle access so it’s via a long walk, by boat or the small ferry service.

Great location, plenty of space and level grass for ease of tent erection and sleeping. Adequate facilities despite busy Bank Holiday weekend.
Only issue was noise late at night from a minority of campers lighting fires, talking, drinking and in one case, playing music until almost 2am.
Would help if some people had more respect for fellow campers, most of whom are tired from long days walking in the hills.

What a glorious, quiet, friendly, comfortable place. Lovely beach side pitches a few steps from a clean golden sand beach sheltered from the Atlantic by deep lochs. Clear clean water and toilet facilities are nearby and if you don't want to test your anti-midge cream at your beach barbeque there is good food and drink as few hundred metres away at the Old Forge.

We used this site at the end of a weeks backpacking in Knoydart. Not comparable to a wildcamp in the mountains but as a proper camp site - what a treat. Had the place virtually to ourselves. Fantastic drop composting toilet - sounds basic but is a very modern installation with no smell. Firepits on site with plentiful firewood & more you can buy. Just watch out for embers on the sea breeze I your tent is upwind of the fire. A nearby B&B has a catering van & serve an assortment of food most days if you don't want to cook your own.

This has to be one of the most beautiful locations in which to camp! The site is on a strip of land overlooking the bay with a backdrop of spectacular mountains.
All the basic necessities are there: toilet, cold water, firewood and a cabin for shelter if necessary. Showers are available down the road in the pub for a cost of £4, but with all that fresh air you may manage without for a day or two!
Camping is £4 a night for a tent with one person, and a further £3 for each additional person.
There is the most enormous pile of firewood on the site, mostly long lengths of wood, so an axe is handy. At one end of the site there is a concrete barbecue structure which can be used for cooking or as a campfire. There are also wooden benches and tables.
Knoydart is accessible only by ferry or a long hike over the mountains, so camping has to be fairly lightweight as everything has to be carried in. A bike is handy for trips down to the village as it cuts the time to about 5 minutes.
There is a little post office and shop which has a range of food, toiletries, etc. The Old Forge serves extremely good food in large portions. There is a little tea shop in the village too.
Come prepared for the midges. They weren't out much when we were there but every now and again they would appear and the Smidge or head nets were required.
The peace and quiet here is really noticeable. There is very little traffic as no roads enter Knoydart from the outside world so there are just the local vehicles on the road.
There is plenty of opportunity for walking and cycling around the peninsula. The scenery is stunning and I would certainly go back again.

Although this is a remote site, very little effort will get you there, park in Mallaig and catch one of the regular ferries over to Inverie. Then a 20 to 30 minute walk will take you to the most beautiful location with a 360 degree view.
Facilities are more than adequate with a 'state of the art' compost toilet ( very user friendly), a wooden hut for foul weather and large handmade picnic benches. Fires are permitted on the beach below the high water tide mark or in the large BBQ pit. We were lucky that there was a huge supply of wood available.
As has been said, the area is a hill walker or cyclist paradise, but if you don't fancy taking your cycle over on the ferry, there's cycle hire available in the village. I wasn't in the shop, but by all accounts you shouldn't rely on it for too much, however, there is a good tearoom and Britain's most remote pub, The Forge.
Even on a 'busy' weekend, the site didn't feel crowded and the view remained uninterrupted, after all, if someone gets in your way, turn slightly and there'll be another stunning view to look at.

Second trip to this campsite in the space of six weeks and enjoyed both immensely. No showers(though that can be arranged elsewhere for a price)Compost toilet(one size fits all) with gel dispenser to clean hands afterwards. Basic log cabin to share if the weather turns and one stand pipe for fresh water at rear of cabins A few benches/tables dotted around and a BBQ pit. And that's it!. Not even sure they cut the grass!
But for £4 per night you get to wild camp in one majestic awe inspiring scenic place about 30mins walk from the small village of Inverie on the Knoydart peninsula with the remotest pub in Britain serving top notch fine food and drink amongst laid back friendly(If a little scatty on keeping to timetables)Locals.
More suited to backpackers/cyclists because of its location but in my humble opinion well worth the effort to reach if you want to come back with your trust in human nature restored. And whatever ails your soul healed.
Go for it. All you adventurous souls out there. You won't be disappointed.

What a privilege to be able to pitch on one of the most picturesque and scenic campsites I've ever camped on. The views are simply breathtaking.
We stayed three nights and paid £7 for two of us sharing one tent. Facilities are basic but more than adequate. There is a 'Natsol compost toilet' for campers to use. Even the views from the dunnie were exceptional. There is no running water in the toilet hut but plenty of alcohol hand rub. The ranger has built a communal log hut complete with turf roof which can be used if the weather turns nasty. Thankfully we did not experience any horrid weather as it was all sun, sand and scenery! There is a cold water tap to the rear of the hut and a few bowls for washing up.
The weekend we stayed was one of the busiest the ranger had known but it did not feel cramped and there was bags of free space.
A gentle stroll along to the village of Inverie was between 20-30 minutes. The whole place is a hill walkers and cyclists paradise.
It's not for the faint hearted though as it can only be accessed by a hefty 18 mile hike or a 30 minute journey on a small passenger ferry from Mallaig. Definitely worth the journey though.
