Loved the quiet location with good access.

Large mowed area with hard standing for van and awning- a fairly level site with views over fields and woods, electric on the pitch and communal fresh drinking water.

No info about other facilities as we didn’t need them so ignore that rating.

5 minutes on a path through a meadow to the friendly local pub, Farmers Arms, where we had a delicious meal - open all day with plenty of rustic outside seating - some covered - then a 20 minute circular pavement walk around quiet country lanes through the village, past the SPAR shop and back to the van.

Just got back from a three night stay at the old barn.

Could not find anyone knocked on the door no reply so dove onto an empty site, an hour later after getting bogged down finally got van sited.

Beautiful aspect nice and quiet. Could not find facilities a bit of signage would help.

Went to Farmers Arms only a short walk, nice pub good pint and the food was more than adequate and reasonably priced, friendly staff.

On leaving finally got a answer from house, paid for three nights even though young woman thought I'd only been there one night.

Will return if in area again.

We visited this site on a recce with a view to find a site near to a caravan repairer in Leyland. We thoroughly agree with the last reviewer – RobMags, finding the facilities more than adequate, with everything that they say is included.

With reference to previous negative comments, the pitches have since compacted with only a couple of pitches needing blocks/ ramps and I don’t see any access problems except for maybe the last pitch where the grassed areas off the pitches are quite soft.

As with most other sites there is now one charge (£14) for caravans with no separate charge for the toilet and showers, which were well stocked with loo rolls.

We didn’t visit the Farmer’s Arms, but were told that as it is a leased local pub in a small village, the hosts and staff can change fairly regularly.

We are going back in a couple of weeks after having the ‘van repaired and as we will have to take a lot of the contents out, will no doubt be trying the pub out and will then add current thoughts afterwards.

We had spent July and August touring North Scotland and Wales. The Old Barn was our last stop before returning to the Scottish Borders. We arrived to find that we were the only unit on site and for location it proved to be peaceful, clean with a veiw of woodland that was in effect the owners back garden.

Though the pitches are located some 200 yards away. Compared to some of the clubs sites the pitches were more than adequate, all hardstanding. The surrounding grass though well cut was very wet.

Facilities were more than adequate, short walk to the only one spotless shower and toilet. Two of each would have been ideal. A nice touch was the library, though we did not partake, books were available should we have stayed longer.

The price was perfect and on lesser club sites that would have doubled. Easy access on or off the M6 but watch out at the petrol station it has only one access.

Well worth a visit.

As previously mentioned the short roadway entrance to the site is narrow and requires care for larger units. The site itself is new and the hard standings are still not as compacted as we would prefer or expect.

All are slightly sloping but modest use of levelling blocks is all that is required.

The facilities are new and well kept but an additional charge for access is levied and the water and disposal facilities are a bit of a hike from the pitches.

There is a good dog walk on site but avoid the pub- FarmersArms, the food is poor and the beer poorly looked after, service is awful and the staff untrained and under supervised.

I've just spent 3 weeks at this site. Although the pitches are not level, (bit of a pain), it is a wonderfully peaceful location, owners are really friendly, it's great value for money and I had the most relaxing break for years.

Only one shower, but always warm AND VERY CLEAN, loads of space. Never a queue for shower, not even on weekends, as site is quite small.

Good (dog friendly) pub 5 minutes walk, beer great, food not bad.

Shop is 10 minutes walk, village is full of really friendly people, shop has excellent freshly baked produce daily.

Site well looked after with excellent dog walking field, full of wildlife. I had a young kestrel on roof of awning and watched a quail with chicks walk 20 yards from my awning. I really enjoyed my stay and will definitely return when I can.

 Yes it's a new site

However there is lots of work needed ?

The road and pitches are awful made up of old Tarmac and to get onto the pitches involved lots of hard work and help from other people

THANKYOU to the couple and also the young man who was looking after the site. Owners away

Over the weekend the Van sunk along with the car

£12 per night was ok but was quoted £2 a night to use one toilet and shower and after looking at previous views glad we used our own

The outlook from the van was lovely

The Farmers Arms ????. Served Beer which was warm. Also a glass of wine. Dirty glass with lipstick all around the rim so didn't bother to ask for the food menu

The owners met all the van owners on the Monday as we were leaving and listened to our points of view. Will they do anything ?. If they do they will get the rewards. People going again

Not for the faint hearted! However. Potential to be a really nice site but lots more work needed.

This site is situated at the edge of a sloping field, with a very narrow access, the only way to get onto our pitch was to reverse 150yards with a 23ft van! Then to physically push the van onto the pitch, to find that the supposedly hard standing ground was so soft the the van and car were literally sinking.

We spent the easter weekend on a slant, along with the three other vans on site. It was £12. 00 per night with an additional £1. 00 per night, per person, to use the one toilet and shower, which incidentally ran out of loo roll by Saturday morning, no handtowels or mirror, and in my opinion was not cleaned during the weekend. On the plus side,

We did find a lovely pub the farmers arms, serving great food, just around the corner so that was a bonus.

Its a new site. The owner and his family made us very welcome. Pointed out shops, where to get a meal, which places were of interest.

Its great value for money. Only 1 shower recently built. Push on button for shower water etc, really no complaints but would have preferred a tarred access to hard standing pitches as when it rains boy did it rain a motorhome got stuck in the gravel.

Would preferred either the gravel made more compact or the road to the pitches tarred.

A clean, quiet new site and would certainly go back.

Newly established site approx 3 miles off M6 Junction 27 easy to find if you follow instructions to the letter. Lovely open aspect very clean, tidy and quiet site, part hardstanding, slightly sloping. Existing WC, Shower in progress. Adults only. Pitch fee £10 per night, very friendly owners. Farmer's Arms pub within walking distance, nearest village Eccleston for local shops, yummy fish & chips, garage.

Site is perfect location for Lancashire sights Chorley town (Astley Hall, park & Gardens), Southport beautiful victorian seaside resort second longest pier in UK, Crosby - Antony Gormley statues, Formby Point, Rufford Hall (National Trust)etc etc. A site to return to for sure.
