Our first camping trip and we enjoyed staying here.

Nice facilities and the owners were helpful. Great location for where we wanted to go (Salisbury centre, Stonehenge and the new forest).

Also really useful to have a Tesco superstore 10 minutes away with a petrol station.

Wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again in the future

Nice grassy site. Owner helpful when asking re places to visit. Reasonable priced considering the facilities.

One shower, 2 personal washrooms and 2 separate toilets in ladies block. Really needs another shower at busy times. We swept it out ourselves most mornings as the floor did not look clean, no mop in the shower to mop floor after finished. A mop is something you come to expect when camping to leave facility clean for next person. Mens block also had one shower, urinals and 2 toilets with sink in room. Main door to toilets block should be self closing to stop all the creepy crawlies gathering on the ceiling. Not great when you have children that don't like creepy crawlies, or send someone in to sweep them away.

Washing machine, microwave and washing up facilities all available. Wifi is there if you stand up near owners house otherwise it is not.

One incident of note - Our children were having a run around one evening at 9pm, after a day out, it was not dark, they we're swore at by a chap that lives in one of the touring vans on the field we were staying in, and another camper complained about them running around another field as they had a run around. The owner came to speak to us and we kept the kids close to camp after that, however 9pm is not late, we were on holiday, If kids are not welcome then perhaps that should be specified on the website. If people live in touring vans on site and there is a need to be quiet then it might have been useful if we had been informed. Usual quiet time is 11pm not daylight at 9pm. This spoilt it for the children as they felt they had to stay close to the tents.

If you like a nice grassy site not to far from new forest and Salisbury it is worth a visit

We stayed here for two nights as we needed to be near Salisbuy. The position of the site was great for walking into Whiteparish (good pub called The Angel for evening meal). We also went on a great walk through some very old woodland. (Be warned, the public footpaths are overgrown and very hard to find!). The site is pretty and had good facilities. The A 36 was noticeable and busy, although as other people have said, you do forget about it eventually.

The lady who runs the site is lovely and friendly. If we needed to stay near Salisbury again, we would come back.

We have just spent 10 days on this site and had a wonderful time. We arrived on a lovely bank holiday weekend with the sun shining - couldn't have asked for better weather.

The site is well laid out with 3 separate fields all well kept with short grass and separated by either trees or bushes. Yes the site is near the road, but it really didn't bother us at all. We ate breakfast and dinner outside our van nearly every day of the holiday and the road noise didn't put us off at all.

The site is lovely and quiet and you're woken up by lots of birdsong.

We had two dogs and a 1 year old with us and it was great for all of us. The dogs are able to be off the lead in the next field so it was great to be able to throw the ball for them each morning and evening.

There are toilets and a shower and a utility area for washing up, a washing machine, dryer and iron. The shower is free and I used it once (we have a shower in the van. ) - it was fine, great water pressure and plenty of hooks and a chair for all your stuff.

The washing machine is £2. 50 for a 40 wash and 50p for 20 minutes of drying time. We used the electric hookup for the week and it was very reliable.

We had a great time at a very reasonable price - there is so much walking to be done in the New Forest.

Stayed here for two nights towards the end of Aug. Great little site, friendly staff. The facilities are pretty good for a site of this size and the little touches like a kettle and microwave are useful if any of your own kit breaks down.

You can hear the road but to be honest it just blends into the background, great location for the new forest, good price and easy to book.

Toilets are clean and well kept, two showers one in each of the toilets, would imagine it could get busy at peak times but it was pretty quiet when we were there so no queues! Shower hot and good water flow, could do with more hooks for clothes etc but really minor point.

We visited at a quiet period so could pretty much pitch where we wanted. The pitches are well kept, the ground is a bit stony about 3 inches below the surface and we managed to bend a couple of pegs so make sure you have some spares!

Child friendly as it's pretty enclosed and not too large so you can keep an eye on your little ones. Will be staying here again in the future, a great find!

We booked late to find a campsite on Spring Bank Holiday weekend, and this one was one of the few available. We wondered why it could easily accommodate us at such a busy time but upon arrival we could see that it was a quality site in a smashing location.

Nice clean toilets and showers, light and airy washing room, and immaculate campsite bordered by mature hedgerows made this one of the best campsite 'finds' we have had in a long time. Stella, the owner, was so helpful and welcoming.

If there was a downside then it was that the A36 passed right by and created traffic noise. But the pluses soon outnumbered the minus's. Right on the edge of the New Forest and 7 miles from Salisbury this is a good location.

There is a long hours shop (Nisa) about 3.5 miles south which has most of what you need. The village of Whiteparish is 25 minutes walk over the fields and very pleasant it is too. Look out for the Lion Cottage where the public footpath passes through its garden. This cottage used to be a pub (The Lion) and still has the licensing terms printed on the external wall!

In Whiteparish there are three pubs and a shop/post office. We ate in the King's Head where the fish and chips and real ales were excellent. Down the road at Hamptworth is a must-visit pub, the Cuckoo Inn. A traditional 4-roomed pub with historic fixtures and fittings and first class real ale. We really enjoyed it here and will definitely use it again.

I have stayed at this site on a number of occasions,i came across it as I was driving down the A36.

It is a fantastic little site with well kept fields, you can chose where you would like to pitch with or without EHU. Owner is a lovely lady she is always willing to help, toilets and showers are kept clean and tidy.

There are some really nice walks around the area through fields and farmland which take you into the near by village.

Bbq's are also permitted as long as they're in something and not directly on the grass.

I will definitely be returning to Hillcrest.

The first night myself & the wife stayed there after a Driving day at Thruxton. The capsite was very nice, very quiet. It is split into 3 fields, so we had a whole field to ourselves which was just as well as the following 2 nights my family joined us (about 20 in all). The Owner was very nice and even let us borrow her patio furniture and stuff for our BBQ. The site itself is very nice. The toilets & other facilities are very clean and well maintained with laundry facilities (you have to pay for these - but most places don't even have them so it's a bonus) and showers (free). There is even a kettle and microwave there to use (also free). The only downside to the whole experience (apart from the rain which we can't blame on the campsite) was the noise of the A36. During the day this is a busy fast road, during the night it's not so busy, but lorries going past can be a bit loud. However after a while you get used to it. Great place to base yourself for visiting the area, as you are right on the edge of the new forest and just 20 minute drive from Stonehenge.

All in all I would go back there if I was camping in the area.

We went with some friends and their kids, the site was fantastic, very clean toilets and showers, very friendly owners and a fantastic walk to the village across the fields where we had a great pub lunch with very nice food and very reasonably priced, I would recommend this to ANYONE, the noise from the road was not bad and easily blocked out after a few hours, I would definitely go again next yeah. A++++++
