We have just spent 8 nights at Le Chant de Oiseaux. A really lovely little campsite with great owners who really do help make your holiday a good one.

We took an early tunnel crossing, arriving in France at 7am and had a leisurely drive stopping off at the aire de Baie de Somme for breakfast and a supermarket for supplies on the way, we arrived mid afternoon to a very welcome cup of coffee from Syb as we set up.

There are 10 pitches and 3 gites on site. There is also a well stocked reasonably priced bar. Showers and toilets may be a little busy when the site is full but they’re recently renovated, clean with plenty of loo roll and soap.

The swimming pool is small but perfectly formed, just what’s needed to cool off and put in some lengths. It is all the same depth from one end to the other, perfect for swimming. The kids who were using the pool had great fun in there too.

Food nights are brilliant, the pizzas are delicious as was the 3 course meal night, the star of which was sausages on a bed of very delicious lentils. Reasonably priced.

The campsite is a great base for visiting the area. We went to Saumur for a wander round town and to the tank museum, to the Chateaux at Gizeux, Villandry, Champchevrier and Langeais, all really good to visit in their own way but the gardens at Villandry were pretty spectacular.

We visited the troglodyte village at Rochemenier and the mushroom museum near Saumur. The tank museum in Saumur is massive, never would have believed there were so many different types of tanks! The museum of Maurice Dufresne near Azay-le-Rideau is also absolutely huge! You are warned as you go in that the exit is a 1km walk away! Loads of things in there from farm tools, tractors, steam engines, cars, guns, etc. Well worth a visit. As you can see the campsite is well placed to visit lots of places not too far away.

We had a great time with Stu and Syb, after following their setting up of the campsite many years ago on the forums of ukcampsite it was great to finally get to stay there, it was rather like visiting friends. If we’re in the area again we won’t hesitate to return.

Amazing site run by a couple who only think off there customers.

The site is like a little treasure in the country side and the on site bar and restaurant is an added bonus.

They have got it so right with the pizza night and a three course meal including wine as this gets all the campers together and both nights we had were brilliant food and company.

Came here with high expectations after reading many reviews of return visitors - and we weren’t disappointed.

We had booked for 7 nights and stayed for 14. Stu and Syb are fantastic hosts constantly working hard to make everyone welcome.

2-3 meals per week served on a long table to campers makes the campsite have a real communal feel to it.

Good combination of social time and peace and quiet.

Best campsite we’ve been on - and can see why people return - we hope to be amongst them!

A return trip after almost 13 years - and it remains An amazing campsite with exceptional hosts in Stu and Syb.

It’s a peaceful place, with lots of space on each pitch, but has a wonderful community feel as there are only 10 pitches.

With a swimming pool, play area for children, table tennis and table football the facilities are great, along with clean showers with plenty of hot water.

As others have said though, what sets it apart are Stu and Syb who couldn’t be more helpful.

They offer a fully stocked bar, delicious cooked meals at least 3 times a week, and fresh bread and pastries in the mornings. The trip to the local goat farm was superb - the children loved helping to milk them!

In fact our girls have announced this as the best camp site in the world, and we agree!

This site is set in countryside. On arriving, I was initially aware that the site was a bit more ‘tired’ than the photos suggested.

However, we loved it. The owners are lovely. The facilities were very clean and the showers were wonderfully hot.

There was a constant sound of bird song, including cuckoo’s, which was a delight.

All together, a charming stay and we can understand why people return.

Always love coming ! Stu and Syb are so welcoming and friendly.

A friend of ours stated in the little gite and we had a great time catching up.

The pool was a godsend in the very hot weather we had here.

We’ll be back next year.

This site is amazing. Stu and Syb the owners are such lovely warm and friendly people who go out of their way to make your stay special.

We stayed in a gite which was really comfortable and perfect for the two of us.

Syb cooks a four course meal twice a week and then Stu cooks pizza in the pizza oven on a Wednesday evening. All meals were delicious. The bar where the food is served is also a great place to meet and have a chat with fellow holiday makers over a drink or two!

There is also a covered, heated swimming pool, we didn't use it but it was popular with other guests.

This is a very special place to stay and we will definitely be returning, absolutely loved it and met some lovely friendly people as well.

We are so pleased to be back after a gap of a year due to Covid. The warm welcome was just what we needed! We love it here.

We had a very lazy time this year as we just wanted to relax.

The meal was excellent as usual.

The facilities were spotless and very covid safe.

We enjoyed the pool once more.

We hope to return !

Our 9th visit and that says it all! We love it here and this year in the ‘canicule’ the new swimming pool was a godsend, with pool temperature of up to 30 degrees most days it was the only place to be!

From the welcome drink, the pizza evenings, Sybs meal evenings, the small bar everything was perfect.

We will be back fir our 10th visit next year.

I feel I want to shout from the roof tops how fab this gem of a site it, but on the other hand, don’t want anyone to find out about it lol!

Peaceful, friendly, relaxing, and with wonderful hosts in Stu and Syb who go the extra mile to make your stay special and always available if you need them. We stayed in our caravan but they have gites too.

Family friendly and very safe for children with a fab pool installed this year but also ideal for couples looking for a relaxing break. We never locked our caravan up once, even on days out.

Thanks to Stu and sybs lovely food nights in the barn, you get to meet all the other campers including people staying in gites and we’ve now made many new friends. Can’t wait to return 😎
