We chose this site for our first couple of nights in France. It was a relatively easy two hour(ish) drive from Dunkerque. The receptionist was very pleasant and spoke good English.
Most of the pitches have a bit of a slope and some are more shaded than others. The ladies and gents facilities blocks are in different locations on the site. They look as if they have been recently refurbished and for those who worry about these thinks there are toilet seats and paper is provided (dispenser on the wall). My only criticism is that no squeegee or mop is provided so the showers could be a bit slippery.
There is a bakery and butchers about half a mile from the site and a big supermarket within about a mile.
Just up the road there is a friterie which is a takeaway and restaurant where we had a very acceptable meal.
In the town (about a mile or so from the site) there are interesting fortifications and a zoo along with the normal shops/bars and restaurants.
All in all a very useful site which we will use again.

Nice site but well shaded so if you like sun then choose pitch carefully. Site is handy if one is driving from Holland towards Paris toll free as we were. Right on main road from nearby Belgium border so easy access. Facilities spotless with reasonably hot water available but site was almost empty on our visit so cannot vouch for high season busy. Oddly male & female sanitary blocks are about 150metres apart.
Access to pitches is good on some but many are set up for righthand door caravans so slightly awkward with UK side door. Plenty of room to leave car/caravan inside gate & walk round first to find suitable pitch. Electric points on each pitch so no hugely long leads required.
Reception bloke was very friendly & helpful. Spoke good English as well. Free Wifi around reception area & comfortable seating inside reception to use your device. We stopped 2 nights. While the town itself is fairly industrial the surrounding countryside & small towns in both France & Belgium are lovely & certainly worth a half day excursion.

Du Clair de Lune – Mauberg
We visited in late April, the site was very quiet. It is a nice site with well attended hedges around each pitch. There are many established trees so satellite reception could be difficult. The facilities are newish and kept very clean. The showers are push button. Washing up facilities are in the open.
Electricity is 6 Amp.
The site has Wi-Fi near to the entrance. The person in charge opens and closes the barrier. It might not be possible to enter the site between 1200 and 1400 when the office is closed. There is a little parking at the entrance.
Maubeug is just a mile away and there is a Carrefour with petrol station in amongst a nearby residential area – fiddly to find.
Maubeug itself has some impressive ramparts and a zoo (we didn't visit the zoo).

Anyone who misses out on this site must be mad, it's a great little site very much in the heart of the local town, they are proud of their site and so they should be, it's spotless, the facilities are cleaned daily and properly, the showers are hot and free, there is no litter, the pitches are all different and can be used by tents, caravans and motor homes all separated by hedges. There is a great fritterie/ restaurant within walking distance, which is highly rated, a good sized Carrefour within 5 minutes drive, a boulongerie and butchers close by as well. There is an edge of town shopping with the biggest AUchan I have ever seen, also a camping and caravanning accessory shop. Maubeuge is a small town but has some nice bars and a great zoo, they also had a free beach party for the kids in the park as well, the people were lovely, the site great what more can anyone want.

A good municipal site on the N2 to the north of the town. Once booked in, choose your own pitch, those with electricity to one side of the site, those without to the other. They are all individual, hedged pitches of a variety of sizes, some sloping and others fairly flat, some almost totally shaded by the mature trees and others more open. Although some pitches looked a little scruffy, it is generally a very pleasant site with electric hook ups by each pitch (6 amp standard or if you want 10 amp someone comes to switch it over) but no working water points by the pitches, despite them being marked on the site plan. Not a problem as long as you know - just get water from the shower block (thanks to the previous reviewer!). The toilet and shower facilities are modern and well kept and smelt lovely, although the showers were on the cool side at 10pm.
Very popular with overnighters but plenty of room and very quiet, especially considering it is by a main road. The large Carrefour nearby was very handy for fuel and first night shopping. Would very happily use again.

What a lovely French campsite! Pitches vary somewhat in size and some are tricky to manoeuvre into but you have free choice of which pitch you want to set up on. We chose a bigger pitch which was a little tricky to get the caravan on - thank heavens for the motor mover! We also stopped here on an easy to manoeuvre pitch for just 1 night 1 week previous. The toilets and showers were spotless and even featured urinals indoors for the men - a real treat in France! Odd that the gents facilities are in one block and the ladies are in another quite some distance away. Waste disposal is on your pitch via a big drain. Fresh water is via sinks at either wash block. No designated water tap, just use the sink taps! Proper 'Euro' electrical hook up just like the UK! Local zoo in Maubeurge is a real delight - slightly old school in layout/design but lots of interesting animals, very reasonable entrance fee and very very close to campsite (well under 5 miles away). Site is full of mature trees so I couldn't get a signal on satellite tv :-( Carefour supermarket very nearby too. Cheap basic site but would recommend due to cleanliness and location.

An overnight stop for us on the busy Mons road, a few kilometers north of Maubeuge. The city is very industrial but the site is well screened and green despite the noisy main road and industrial estate behind. Pitches are reasonable size, hedged with electric and water but some are sloping. The two toilet blocks are clean, hygenic and well serviced. Nominally one is male, the other female but French ladies do not discriminate. Dogs welcomed but nowhere to walk other than the site. Large Carrefour 5 minutes away with fuel. A convenient and busy site but not one we would stay more than one night en route to the Parc Naturel to the south.

Stayed for one night on way to Troyes. Lovely site, helpful staff who told us just to choose a pitch. Some were rather steep so chose a fairly flat one. Interesting design of toilet blocks single sex blocks, clean but ladies be aware no cubicals for sinks. Great hypermarket 5mins away from site.
We arrived at 1pm and it was quiet, by 4pm it was full, there was an English motoer home tour using it for first night and they had an outside welcolme meeting which went on till quite late. Small children's play area and table tennis if you take your own bats which we always do!
Great site for a stopover or a couple of days if in the area.

This is an ideal site for stop-over rather than a longer stay as Maubeuge doesn't have a great deal to offer although there are a number of places to eat and drink plus an excellent supermarket within a mile. We used this as a bolt hole for the Easter break and found the site itself, its facilities and reception perfectly agreeable. It was very quiet, with only around 6 other units and a little muddy due to the heavy rain but we would have no hesitation in recommending it and would return if ever we were back in the area.
