We had a fab week here and will definitely be returning as the whole family agreed that this is going to be one of our favourite sites in the area. Having only 15 pitches means that its not overcrowded and is peaceful - perfect for us. The owners are friendly and couldn't do enough to help us when we had a 'mishap' with our awning - our thanks go out to them. Our children loved the fact that they could interact with the animals and although there was no playground on site, the amount of space available for them to make their own entertainment is a luxury and enabled them to make friends easily. As mentioned in previous reviews the site is being revamped and facilities are soon to be put in, I'm sure that we will then have to book well in advance for a pitch. The site is within walking distance to Pickering but well away from main roads - perfect to let the kids have a bit more independence :-)

Just back from a 4 night break with a caravan. Fortunately we have our own facilities for wc and showers. The site is in the developing stage so, no shower block. This did not stop campers as the site had an equal amount of vans and tents. Very friendly owners who are very experienced in the joys of caravans and motor homes. Generous pitches and beautiful surroundings. This site will only get better and better. Down side being will become very very popular and rightly so. We had a major mishap with a tyre and Dave the owner was a huge help in getting the problem sorted. Many thanks for your kindness. We are not huge caravanners but will definitely be back to enjoy the peace and tranquillity of this site. Give this a try you will not be sorry.

Stayed two nights in August - phoned and booked at short notice and it was explained that there is no shower block but that mains linked toilets were being installed that day. We liked the look of the site and decided we could manage for a couple of nights so booked.
This proved to be a good decision as the site was perfect for our needs being close to pickering and also very quiet.
The pitches are very large and flat and the owner (Dave) very friendly and welcoming. There is a large dog walking area next to the site and there are free range eggs on sale at a very reasonable price.
The site had only been open 2 weeks when we were there. There is no shower block or wash up area but the two toilets are brand new and the level of facilities are reflected in the price you pay. We paid £24 for the two nights which included £2 for the dog which found to be very reasonable.
This is a very nice small and friendly site which is ideal if you want to have peace and quiet while just being a few minutes drive into pickering (also walkable) where there are numerous shops to pick up your supplies.
We will definitely be using westgate carr again for short breaks and would recommend this site to others.
I have rated facilities 10/10 because you get what you pay for and what is honestly advertised.

This site changed ownership in Dec 2012, and the new owners are very busy developing all the facilities to make this a top site.
We had a really fantastic time here, as the setting is great and we could let the kids wander freely without any concerns. It also has an adjacent field with a lovely walk, which is also excellent if you have a dog.
The owners were really welcoming and very easy to get on with, and were keen to ensure we had everything we needed. A nicer bunch of people you couldn't wish to meet!
I would recommend you visit this site if you're after a really relaxing stay in great surroundings and, if you have kids, you can't go wrong given it's on a farm with Alpaca's/Chickens, etc.
Definitely one of the best sites we've visited, and we'll be back as soon as possible!
(please note, I've listed the site facilities as 6/10, but the owners are working extremely hard to develop the site as quickly as they can, so if you're reading this review a month down the line, it's probably changed significantly)

Had a wonderful War Weekend in October at Westgate Carr Caravan Park. Owner very hospitable and organised extensions for the electric hookup. The toilets very basic and no hot water or showers but at least there were some. The tent residents didn't seem to mind and have apparently been back many times. The surroundings were lovely being based on a working livery yard. A bit out of the town but because of that very peaceful. Certainly worth the money, £12 per night. Plenty of room and no restrictions on what you can do. Will certainly consider going there again next year.
