We spent a week here and like the previous reviewer were lucky enough to arrive on Bastille Day for the BBQ, concert and fireworks. I've never been to a site before that compares with this one. It was excellent. We have 2 young children and they loved the pool and the play areas. We pitched near the pool and house. Perfect. There are plenty of mice around so careful with your rubbish. We had a sewn in bathtub tent so weren't too bothered. This isn't Butlins, thank goodness. The staff are brilliant. Mme Bony's children run the day to day stuff now and they're really hard-working and incredibly helpful. Look out for the Sunday evening history lesson about the house, too. Great stuff.

I mainly agree with the previous comments. I stayed on a lakeside pitch for two weeks because of the fishing. We stayed on the opposite side of the lake from the main camp (if you've been you'll know what I mean). I had plenty of room but was of the opinion that the orchard area was cramped. Large twins and very large tents were all accommodated without a problem. I travelled as part of a group requiring five pitches, all were pre booked well in advance and were ideal. The staff were excellent in every way possible. Bastille night was an evening not to be missed with a concert outside the house and a firework display over the lake. Some info for the fishermen amongst us. The lake is not very deep, about two feet we think and sometimes less. All the fish we took out were common carp in good condition ranging from three to ten pounds. They are a crafty bunch and were quite a challenge. An eel also came out. On the whole a very enjoyable two weeks which was not really affected by some really horrendous weather which led to some really muddy pitches.

Just back from a week at le Brevedent and cannot praise it enough! It's a lovely, peaceful campsite in a beautiful part of France with enough to do on site but not so much you feel as if you are at Butlins or similar. The pitches are divided into zones - those round the lake (amazing view but seemed quite close together) terraces near the swimming pool and the old orchard where we camped - seemed more spacious. All the staff were so friendly and welcoming and seemed genuinely pleased to be there to help you. The restaurant was good - pizzas, pasta and some French bistro style dishes (poulet a la vallee Pays d'Auge is a local speciality and to be recommended) and there is also a little bar in the chateau with lots of board games. In the day there is a snack bar which serves drinks and sandwiches. The shop is well stocked and there is a delivery of baguettes, pain au chocolat, pain aux raisins every morning - delicious. The reception area is full of useful local info and ideas for day trips. The site is quiet between 10 pm and 8 am. There are 3 shower blocks, one is really quite luxurious (behind reception) but the others could do with some updating. However, the site is compact so no big deal to get to the fancy showers of a morning! Lots of water taps dotted about. In terms of the local area, you can get topographes of local walks from reception; Honfleur is not far off, lots of little Calvados and cider distilleries to visit, Beumont d'Auge and other picturesque villages are near by. We didn't do half of what I had planned, however, as we spent so much time relaxing at the campsite!

Site is in beautiful parkland, arranged around a natural lake, and the adjoining old orchard and orangerie. There is a small presence of Eurocamp tents and mobiles, and the site has 6 mobiles of their own. The main impression however is of a touring site with a mix of tents and caravans. Pitches are open, defined usually by a tree at each corner. Sizes vary and large twin axles would be advised to check availability as not all pitches will be suitable. All pitches are supplied with electricity of 10 amps or more. There are 3 toilet blocks varying from new to "old", and standards vary from v. Good to "adequate". There is only 1 chemical disposal, and if you are at the opposite end of the site, be prepared for a long trek. The site offers a well stocked shop (but there are several supermarkets in easy reach also), a cafe in high season, and a restaurant with full menus all seasons. There is an outdoor pool, heated to 25 deg +/- a playground for older kids, and a childrens play area conveniently facing the restaurant. In high season there are activities arranged for the younger children. Le Brevedent is 10 km from Pont L'Eveque, and gives easy access to Deauville, Trouville, Honfleur, and a number of less well known but equally attractive coastal resorts. Further afield but still within a day trip are the D Day beaches, Bayeux, Caen, La Suisse Normande, Falaise and numerous other venues including Paris which is 13/4 hrs by car or train. We have visited the site at various times throughout the year, and basically it is a family site.patronised by Dutch and British families. In high season there are a lot of young children, but the site goes "quiet" at around 10.00pm. Out of season it is mainly older people again from Holland and/or UK. The site is run by the direct descendants of the family who originally owned the chateau, and their intention is to maintain the rural nature of the area, and to sustain it's natural beauty. In high season the site can be "complet" most nights, in low season there is still usually around 60% -70% occupation, so there are enough people who appreciate the particular aspects of the site and the area. There are many who return year after year. In general if you like beautiful surroundings and a fairly laid back approach, Le Brevedent could be for you. If you prefer tarmac roads, hard standings, service points, or entertainment provided nightly, then it will not suit.
