Lovely site with small well stocked shop and clean toilets with free showers. (However could do with the cobwebs removing from the ceiling skylights as my other half has arachnophobia!)
Almost had the place to ourselves after the weekend. We had gone to relax and get acquainted with our Canadian canoe and this is the perfect spot for the later. With its own private beach to access Llyn Tegid (Bala Lake) we went out on the lake most days. When not in use the canoe was safely left in the grass nearby so no need to carry it to and fro out pitch, which was all of 200 yards from the waters edge each day!
Just one major gripe, which was not so relaxing, was the mini digger from 9am most mornings re-turfing the grass. We appreciate this work needs to be done, but as the site was due to close the following week for winter I do feel they could have delayed this work by a week and shown a bit more consideration towards holidaymakers still on site. I Hope the owners take this on board as constructive criticism as they loose points from us because of this. I would have scored straight 10's if it had not been for this constant noise.
Good shopping in Bala with its abundance of hardware shops and with both a Somerfield and Spa. Wish we had spotted Roberts butchers earlier as it looked superb! Do the town walk and you are sure to come across it!

The first site I found on this website, had great weather for the weekend in early September. Stayed for 2 nights. Ideally placed right on the lake for fishing or water sports. The campsite has its own river running through it. Showers and toilets are kept to a high standard and there's always hot water. This was my first time at Glanllyn and would definitely go back again next year. The perfect place for a weekend away for couples, families with kids or just a couple of mates chilling for the weekend. Try it out for yourself!

First time camping and really enjoyed the site despite the terrible weather.
Nice, clean site with good access to the lake for those wanting to do watersports. Lots of level ground to pitch tents although was a bit boggy but this was not surprising given the amount of rain and I would have expected it to be far worse.
Toilets and showers very clean lots of hot water, only criticism was that the lighting in the shower block was poor. Despite the fact it was a bank holiday and quite busy on Saturday and Sunday we never had to wait to use the showers.
Local shop on site for bits and bobs and a Spar and Somerfield in nearby Bala so no need to take large quantities of food. Nice children's park for the kids. Will visit again and would recommend.

Best site ever for anyone interested in launching a kayak or sail boat straight from the campsite. Only hesitation on writing a review is so it doesn't get too crowded.
Toilet and shower facilities excellent. Shop on site surprisingly well stocked with basics.
Play area and dog walk area too close to the road to allow small children there by themselves but great for middling kids.
Now the road has a cycle track all the way to Bala town, the campsite is even more convenient for getting around.

We decided to go to this beautiful campsite for two nights but the weather was just awful. I had pre-booked and on arrival the wonderful lady at reception advised us not to stay as the weather had been and continued to be so bad. I asked if we could stay just one of the two nights we had booked and she accepted. Although the weather wasn't brilliant and the ground quite soggy we had a great time.
The facilities are just brilliant. The shower and toilet block are really clean and are big so you don't have to wait for a shower. The shop on site is packed with all the necessities and more!
I would strongly recommend this site. It is beautiful, well maintained, friendly, five minutes from Bala town and has its own private beach.
Go for it!

3 sites in 7 days - 1st review. Great site. Did not book, do so though to avoid disappointment!
Welcomed warmly by staff and shown area to pitch from shop site map.
Good on site shop, well stocked.
Facilities clean and spacious.
No question about it I would go back, to sit by the lake with a beer was so relaxing, great.
I only spent one night as I was touring North Wales with a mate on Motorbikes.
I Look forward to going back with family. Thank you

Our trip to Glanllyn was our first experience of camping and we weren't sure quite what to expect. The closest we've been is to watch 'Carry on Camping'.!
Booking at Glanllyn was easy, although we were warned that due to the school holiday and the fact that Bala was hosting the Eisteddfod music festival on the weekend end we chose, the site would be vary busy.
We arrived at Glanllyn and all of our fears vanished. The site is split between tents and caravans/motorhomes and also hook-up and non-hook-up. We were directed to the non-hook-up tent area (we had not booked a hook-up) and were given freedom of choice as to where we pitched.
We were warned that due to lots of heavy rain over the last few weeks, some areas were waterlogged. The owners had taken the time to tape off the offending areas so finding a suitable pitch was no problem. The site itself is perfectly flat with the odd undulation, but nothing cause any concern.
The site was very clean and tidy, water points were commonplace and the toilet/shower/wash-up areas were on an elevated section of the site.
Whilst on the subject of facilities, we found these to be clean and plentyful with sufficient hot water.
The site is located on the shore of Bala Lake and a feeder river, these seemed perfect for families to play in with many taking to the water in small sailing boats and canoes/dinghys.
The play area, whilst close to the road, is a modern wooden type with slides, swings, climbing net, etc and was perfect for our 5 year old and his cousins who visited us for the day.
The site is just a short drive from the centre of Bala with various shops, pubs, take-aways, etc.
The scenery at Glanllyn is very pleasant with rolling hills and meadows. The Bala Lake Railway is just a short drive away too.
We very much enjoyed our introduction to camping and we will most certainly return to Glanllyn soon.

Just returned home from a week camping at glanllyn. The site is in a lovely location and the lake is great, however this site has many downsides in my opinion. The park is on the main road into the camp-site and children were riding on their bikes in middle of road so you have to be careful when driving in and out of the site. The site is very big and we were pitched quite near to the entrance so we had quite a walk to the toilet / shower block and pot washing.
Most of the sites we have camped on before have a noise curfew at night but this site does not, we could hear loud music and people making a noise well past midnight and my daughter spent the whole week tired and grumpy because she could not sleep.

Sitting in my chair with a drink, watching the sun sink below the hills. It is hard to believe that I am not in the German Lakes. The scenery just takes your breath away, the lake is a deep blue like the ocean and all around there are hills and mountains. I can feel all the stresses of life just melting away.
Glanllyn is one of the prettiest sites I have ever visited. The owners are pleasant and welcoming. They are delighted to help and every time I have visited they have found me a really nice pitch, even when rain has made some of the grass areas soggy.
The toilet blocks are clean and not overcrowded even during the busy weekends.
The shop has a good range of products and the town centre is only a short distance by car or pushbike if you have forgotten anything.
I have never had second thoughts about visiting Glanllyn, I have recommended the site to my friends in the past and would have no hesitation in doing so again.
If you are looking for a site that is quiet, friendly and has scenery to die for, then Glanllyn is the place for you

Upon arrival on the site, we were very impressed with the views across the lake and how close the camp site was to the town centre. Check in was swift and our pitch was in good order. The kids disappeared straight away to the fantastic play park where they eventually met new friends over the stay. The toilet / shower / washing facilities were very good and seemed to cope with the amount of people at this busy Easter period.
We are booking to visit again for Whitsun as this was a super place for getting out and about for all the local (within 30 mins) attractions.
A place I have recommended to other friends.
