Arrived for a couple of days with 2 young kids. Very friendly owner greeted us upon arrival. The site itself is very clean and today, the facilities were first class, the best I've seen on our travels so far.
The kids loved the park outside and soon made a few pals with the kids in the tent area. Not a lot of room on the site to let them play and we soon got a telling off from the very unfriendly neighbour who was quick to tell us site rules forbid kids throwing a frisby!
I didn't see many families within the caravans section so I got the feeling the majority of residents were regulars quite content to spend the entire weekend in their vans.
The location of the site is great with a five minute walk to the beach playground, which the kids loved. There was a leisure centre next door but it was too nice to be indoors so never got to try it.
To summarise, a great site with first class facilities, I would certainly return as it was a good value base to explore the local area.

Fantastic site, toilet block immaculate, well looked after by Bill and his wife - tireless, available whenever required, nothing is too much trouble, also great bunch of people on site.
Very helpful - would recommend 100%. Good location 5 mins from town - we are regular campers ( 20 + years) one of the best sites we have been on. Dog friendly - we have 2.
Park for children to play right next to site - key to lock and unlock gate to the park so no visitors that are not from site. Location seems odd in middle of housing estate but works very well.
Carnoustie is lovely little town. We will be back thanks Bill!

I went to this site for an overnight test of my new caravan that had picked up from Top Road Tourers (highly recommended) just up the road.
When we arrived the weather was a bit wet but that didn't stop us getting sorted. Paid for the one night, only £18 for everything, best value site I have visited, also was given had a wee tour of the facilities with the wardens wife. The warden (Bill) then came out and helped me get pitched, giving me reversing instructions, very helpful. I got the caravan organised and the boys went for a play in the park.
The site is close to the neighbouring area but this is not a problem, everyone has a key to facilities. We decided to walk to the town for dinner, only took about 10 minutes downhill, slightly longer on return. Great wee Indian takeaway next to the war memorial. The site was very quite all night, no problems settling down.
The weather wasn't great the next day but we took a wee drive down to the beach, could have walked but I wasn't sure of the distance. There is a fantastic free play area for the kids on the front, even a 12 year old enjoyed it. Beside it there is a pitch and putt course and the local leisure centre. We didn't manage to visit either, but will next time. There is a Co-op within walking distance for all your essentials.
Time to leave and again Bill was out to lend a hand, thanks for that. All in all a great area and site, don't think there is enough to keep the kids happy for a week but would be great for a weekend re-visit and I've didn't even mention the golf course!

We have just returned from a 3 night stay at this wonderful site! The wardens were so helpful. Nothing was a bother for them. We had free wi-fi access for the duration of our stay. Although it rained a fair bit while we were there the ground remained very well drained. The toilets are simply fantastic! Absolutely immaculate with piped music from the local radio station played 24hrs (very homely). The showers (all Mira) are great too. Heaters in the shower and toilet area. Even a heated TV lounge with comfy sofas if you want to relax and be indoors. The kitchen/dishes area was also spotless - it contained a microwave, mini oven, toaster, kettle and a full size fridge and freezer! We could have used any of these items if we had required them. We were £16 per night plus £5 per night for electric - very reasonable! Can't fault this site - only the weather whilst we were there but the wardens can't do anything about that. All in all we would give this site 10/10!

Just returned from a 10 day break at Woodlands Caravan Park. They certainly give the Caravan Club a run for their money. Site is clean and tidy. Pitches are huge (super pitches with water/drainage). Facilities on site are second to none. Toilet blocks are spotless. Wardens are extremely helpful and pleasant. Facilities for tents are excellent. Games room is well equipped. Free wi-fi available.
Local bakery and chip shop excellent. Bus stop outside site takes you direct to Dundee.
Excellent location for bikes, cycle routes are well laid out and paths go from the site to Dundee, Arbroath and surrounding areas.
There is a play park just outside the site and also an adventure play park at the beach which is just a stroll away from the site.
Value for money. Half the price of the Caravan Club Sites!
Excellent time had by all.

I can only repeat all the other reviews. A lovely site, spotless facilities, lovely showers with all sites being 'super pitches' with fresh water, EHU + waste water outlet on every hardstanding site. Total Bliss for a Motorhome! Will def be on my list of sites to re-visit! Only regret is that we didn't have the chance to thank the Wardens in person before we left! Thank you for a very pleasant stay.
We intended to stay for one night on our way home to Wales, but felt so welcome we stayed for three nights! Would really have liked to stay longer, there is so many places to visit within a short distance.

What a find, best site we have been on.
Arrived without booking this wasn't a problem, invited to choose a pitch, all the hard standings were taken but the rest of the pitches looked pretty flat,
Toilets and showers immaculate and plenty of them for a small site, no need to queue, one of the cheapest sites we have stayed on during our 2 week tour of Scotland,
Value for money by far the best, even got free wi fi on our pitch. Within walking distance of the shops and beach.
Will definitely use again if in this area

Our second visit, and I echo all the positive reviews.
Won't repeat my previous review, just want to say that the site is no longer listed in the CCC handbook (2011 version), so we were concerned that it had closed (found several sites like this, so we now use our old CCC handbook instead. ) It's leased from the Council, not run by them, and it's a credit to the couple that look after it.
Locked gate to the park provides somewhere for a stroll, with or without a dog.
We got the 73A from the bus stop outside the site into Dundee - takes about 45 mins, cost about £4. 20 pp return if you don't have a bus pass.

Just spent a week at Woodlands. What a great wee site!
The whole place is spotless and tidy, Bill and Mary take a real pride in the place.
The ablutions were always clean and fresh and the piped in music a real nice touch. The availability of a freezer was a boost, it allowed us to re-freeze out ice blocks and keep our cooler box cool for the whole week (there is a also a kettle, toaster, microwave and oven, but we didn't make use of them)
The council playpark behind the site was a real bonus for the kids and the dog.
The town centre was walking distance and the beachfront playpark is fantastic!
Dundee is striking distance and Discovery Point and Camperdown Wildlife Centre are worth a visit.

This site is in a very nice location, next to a large park, accessed through a padlocked gate. You can walk to Carnoustie Beach in under 10 minutes and there are a few pubs & shops on the way. The playpark at the beach is fantastic for kids of all ages. The site is set between houses and a large park, the toilets are a little dated but immaculate and regularly cleaned. There are plenty of showers and again the showers were clean and tidy. The campers kitchen was very small with 2 sinks so there was often a queue for dishwashing, there was a microwave, toaster and a kettle (which didn't work properly, ). Unfortunately the games room was also a bit of a let down - there was a pool table and nothing else as when we arrived we were told that the TV did not work!
Unfortunately this campsite does not have an enforced noise curfew therefore I found it very noisy and not particularly child friendly. There are signs within the site asking people to be considerate after dark however these rules were not enforced by the wardens and I had to leave my tent at midnight and again at 1am to ask a group of very drunk campers to keep the noise down as the children were being woken up! At 2am we were still lying awake hoping for a little bit of quiet!
The campsite became extremely waterlogged on the second of our three nights booked (apparently that area of the site had never flooded before?!?!) this resulted in ours and another families tents becoming flooded and us having to drive home during the night (approx 100 miles away) and then come back the following morning to collect our very wet belongings! In the morning, the ground had dried out a bit but the tent and groundsheets were so wet we decided to cut our loses and return home.
Despite the campsite ground being unfit for purpose, they do not allow refunds however they have offered us 2 free nights camping in future to reflect the fact that we had to leave 2 nights early.
All in all, the campsite is in a lovely location and is in very well kept grounds but I would not recommend it if you have young kids or if you are looking for a quiet weekend away.
