What a super little site. New this year.
We had a lovely three day break camping over the Bank Holiday Weekend. Pub is a hundred yards away and does a cracking meal. Steak Pie was superb. Prices right too.
The shower block is new. Buses were next to the pub with a 30 minute service to Whitby. Good value when you don't have to pay to park your car, let alone find a spot or petrol.
Village shop has everything you need for the break.
Will be coming back next year.
Whilst we were not in a Pod, I gather they are available all year round as site is open through to January 2013.

Just returned from a four night stay at this small but beautiful site. We chose it as it close to our town and wanted a short stay for our last outing of the year
Greeted by the wardens who were friendly and helpful and were given a choice of pitches. Opted for quiet corner in the trees as it was quite windy. Good size pitch as we have a rather large tent and awning
Brand new shower/toilet block with sensors for water flow (never found problem with amount of hot water). Allways kept clean and maintained. Washing up area also brand new with what looks like plumbing for washers.
Plenty of walks to do in the area and also Whitby and NYMR. Walked into Sandsend and allthough its only a few miles it can seem like 8 on the way back due to Lythe Bank. (you, ll know what I mean if you do it)
Overall a nicely kept site in a good location, sea views and with good basic facilities (no playground or shop on site). Good value, as there are no add ons

Just back from a fab 5 night stay at Lythe, cracking little site in a lovely area. Toilet and dishwash area are obviously brand new and really clean, site well laid out and very handy for local pub (excellent food) and village shop. Also a good play area in the village for kids.
Only downside is that our pitch wasn't the most level and you had to be careful where you placed your chair so it didn't fall over, however this was just a minor irritation and wouldn't stop me going back to the site in the future. The site manager was very helpful, and the pub landlord owns the site so there's always someone about should you need help with anything.
Only other slight improvement needed is possibly washer/dryer for clothes for when our Great British Weather soaks you, but it does look as though the plumbing/drainage is in place for this so I'm sure this will happen in the future. Also I'm sure £25 per night is really good value for money when you have a large family but as there's only 3 of us it did seem a bit pricey.
However, the location of the site is excellent for touring the N Yorks coast, with Sandsend beach just at the bottom of hill and Whitby just a 10 minute drive away. Definitely a site we'll use again.

I'll keep this review short as I was the first to review this site in June the first weekend it opened but we decided to give it another go as there were a few initial teething problems on our first visit but not enough to put us off revisiting.
Our second visit did not disappoint, all the original good points were still there but the site has matured slightly and improved and it has made a lovely site.
The site was full and the atmosphere was really nice, very laid back and friendly but still well looked after.
The only negative point I could make is that there were 4 of us and throughout out 3 night stay there were a few occasions we went to shower or wash up and there wasn't any hot water, we did have a word with the warden and he said they were aware there was an issue and were looking into it. The best time for a hot shower is first thing on a morning or on an evening, the problems seem to be late morning.
We don't tend to revisit sites very often as we like to try new ones but both my partner and I said we will go back again as it's turned out to be a little favourite of ours.

Just returned from a lovely three night break. Manager friendly and helpful. Small site with lovely views and good location; near to road for bus, although we walked to Whitby and back, and to Runswick Bay along the Cleveland Way and back.
Shower block clean and enough showers, toilets, and washing-up sinks for size of the site. However, the hot water soon ran out and we usually washed-up in tepid water.
Local shop handy for extra supplies.
Generally a quiet site and fellow campers friendly and chatty. Enjoyed having the firepit.
To access Cleveland Way easily; walk down track beside Lythe Church, through the farm and then there is a sign for either Sandsend or Kettleness - lovely walk and views on coastal path, and Runswick Bay has a pub and cafe near the beach. Check tide times as difficult at high tide when Cleveland Way comes down onto beach.
At £25 per night, a bit on the expensive side, especially if you don't use electric hook-up and add on the cost of the firepit, but we would return for a short break.

Stayed here for 2 nights during the regatta weekend in Whitby.
Was a great little site, had modern toilet and shower block which were cleaned daily. The site owners were very welcoming and helpful. We stayed in a tent just 2 of us and had a barbecue without any fuss and visited the stiddy pub which was a lovely little pub with good music playing. There were some good trails to walk on immediately outside the site and Whitby itself was only 4 miles away. There is a steep hill to drive up to get to the site but never really troubled the car much over all great weekend would definitely stay again.

What a super welcome we received from the staff at the Lythe camp site. Superb shower / toilet block with all amenities needed.
The owners have obviously spent a small fortune upgrading this site and it really shows.
The site isn't too big, so not noisy. Its ideal for families with children as its enclosed and safe.
There's a super little shop down the road who sell all the necessary basics required for a full english!
We spent two delightful evenings in the pub attached (but far enough away as to not be a problem). The food is excellent and very good value for money.
I would definitely return again.

Took hubby here for fathers day, used the hut that they offer as weather wasn't too good, had heating and light. Found it to be a lovely site, the shower and toilet block was clean and spacious, owners helpful, with really nice views, dog even enjoyed it despite the rain. Nice dog walking bit at bottom of the hill beside the beach that takes you up and around the cliffs, you can even find ammonites on the beach in the rocks, definitely use again

On arrival was greeted by the warden who was a very friendly chap along with his partner. He showed me up to my pitch which was quite secluded or so I thought, however once I got tent up etc. I realised it wasn't that quiet. All and sundry passed on going to the pub, kids flying down the side of the path completely avoiding the gate and through a local residents property which I'm sure given time when the trees grow will be eradicated.
The sea view was only existent if you wanted to stand up all the time, again once the site is fully developed I'm sure this will be sorted.
Their was a separate play area which is no bad idea as it was well away from all pitches and the pub was only a short walk.
The toilets, shower facilities etc were well maintained under the circumstances as the seats were being vandalised or so it seemed by somebody staying on the site.
Great area for walks be it along the beach at Sandsend or overland. Also theirs the lovely little town of Whitby always a big pull for me anyway. Good place for freshly caugth fish and chips from locally sourced potatoes.
All in all not the break that I was looking for but still came back and recharged.

This site is recently refurbished with new toilet block and washing up facilities. Still some basic requirements: no freezer for ice packs, no towel
Hooks near wash basins no dry storage space in showers.
2 night stay but first was awful as the owner had allowed a party of 11 unaccompanied young teenagers to stay in 2 new pods, our tent was between them nightmare ! Fortunately they only stayed 1 night.
Also local pub not open for food every night.
