This was our first experience of camping and a very good start. The site is in a lovely location, quiet, well kept and well laid out so as not to feel cramped or regimented.

The Shower block was nicely done and clean, although I did think only 2 blocks for the whole site was too few (I got up at 7am to try and miss the rush but still had to queue for a few minutes). Also my husband said the mens block was a bit smelly (as was the Family room - which I thought could have been better designed as the shower is right next to the toilet)

The play area is great, although could ideally do with a couple of swings. Our youngest(2) loved the ducks and goats in the (fenced) pond area.

The BBQ/hog roast on Saturday evening was really good - a long queue but worth it with generous portions of lovely food. We also ate in 'Greens' which is on the A140 which was traditional but provided solid good food - which was most welcome on a very wet night.

We visited Bewilderwood which is fabulous outdoor fun for the Kids and Blickling Hall both about 30 mins away.

We love this camp site, but it is hard to get into. We were in the Muntjac Meadow, which was a short walk from the main site: not a problem when sunny, but it belted down when we visited.

We pitched right near the toilet block, which was handy when they need to go every 10 mins, but was on the north-facing side, so cold & shady.

The site was quiet & all the other campers were considerate (apart from the people taking half an hour to wash up when the queue was 6 deep)

PUB

We drove 5 miles up to 'the Greens' pub at Aylsham for our evening meal. Perfect grub, and a playground for the kids. Just right. There's a garden centre & farm shop adjacent too.

TOILETS/SHOWERS

The showers on the main site are superb, but just ordinary on Muntjac Meadow. We did without showers, because it was just too hectic with 2 small children in tow

SHOP

Stocks good basics: bacon, bread, sweets, beans, eggs etc.

RECEPTION

Very friendly and helpful, even when asked dumb questions by frazzled campers

WEATHER

We camped during a tornado and torrential rain, but the kids loved it, thanks to the playground, fish pond, goats & evening bonfire. They made lots of new friends and really enjoyed themselves.

DOWNSIDE

I feel mean leaving a 'but', but. The hot water was scalding, and we all burned our hands several times (yeah I know, pigeons learn quicker).

I'd also like a cloth to be left at the sinks, so we could wipe down before & after use (the kids kept putting their clothes in puddles of water).

This site remains a firm favourite for us. This was our third visit, having previously stayed at the site for each of the past two years. The facilities (toilets, showers, washing up area) still look as new as ever and are still the best we have come across.

The pitch sizes are generous with plenty of room between pitches so the site never feels overcrowded, even though we were there during the main summer holidays. We have always stayed on the main site, there is a separate field (Muntjac Meadow) which is a short distance away from the main site, but not having stayed on it I woundn't like to comment about it.

The site seems to attract a good mix of families and we have never experienced any problems with noisy neighbours!

For us the site is in an ideal location as it gives easy access to the north Norfolk coast, which has plenty to offer a family like ours with young children. We would definitely come more often if only we lived a little closer!

Fantastic site - perfect for families with young children - the whole campsite went very quiet by 11pm at the latest. The toilet block was immaculate and clean, and the showers were hot whatever time of day we visited (although the water pressure was sometimes lacking at peak times). The shop had all the things you may need in a camping emergency, along with all the usual food essentials and the staff were always very helpful and friendly. The campsite had lovely places to walk in and around, with lots of nature at hand to entertain the kids - the only little things we think it could improve on is to have a better playground with a few more additions to what they have currently and an idea for the future would be to have some sort of stool in the toilet block to help all the children reach the taps as they were positioned quite far back!

In all, a lovely, friendly, quiet campsite that we would (and have) recommended to our friends - we will be sure to visit again! Thank you!

Just back from Deers Glade in Norfolk we had the time of our lives and the weather was just the best we had one day of rain in the week. The site was very well run we arrived at 2pm as per instructions and booked in, we was then given directions to Monkjack meadow just a short drive from the main site. Monkjack meadow has no electric hook ups and the shower block is in a porter cabin but I must say they are very clean and was kept that way all week with staff cleaning them what seemed to be every hour. Pot washing was just to the side of the shower block and on occasions we did have to wait for hot water but only for a short time, On the main site there is a shop selling basics and on the main site there are washing and drying machines if needed. There are lots of places to visit not too far from this site Cromer being one with a nice safe beach and plenty for kids to do if you like to fish you can fish on the main Deers glade site

Set in cleared woodland 5 miles away from Cromer, the site is reached down a long road off the A140 in Hanworth. First impressions are good, the site looks tidy and well kept and all buildings are very new. I must admit the impression I got from the staff member when booking in did concern me a little. It was abundantly clear that she didn’t want to be there that day and it showed. We were taken to our pitch by another staff member who couldn’t be more different. She was very cheerful and helpful as well. Pitch sizes are very good but you do get the feeling of being cramped somewhat.

After setting up the caravan and awning, we tried to get the TV to work only to find that the reception is almost non-existent (Note O2 mobile reception is non-existent also). There are TV points on all electric points and extension leads are available from reception if required on payment of a deposit (we needed 2 leads as the TV point was so far from our pitch!).

A major problem with this site is the lack of shower facilities. There are 2 shower/toilet blocks located at either side of the site, each with 2 showers for men and the same for ladies. This makes total of 4 showers for each, which is nowhere near enough for the amount of pitches on the site. It does mean an inevitable queue in the mornings. The cleanliness cannot be faulted however.

There is a fishing lake on site which seems to be full up much of the time with youngsters. I paid £15 for a weeks fishing ticket and to be honest, wished I hadn’t bothered. At no time was my ticket checked and I got the impression that most users had not bothered to pay (I would be very surprised to see if any had Environment Agency rod licences either). I caught a couple of smallish bream along with a few tiddlers, but the fish are so well fed here it seems almost a waste of time.

On the whole not a bad site if you like this sort of thing, but it does have to be said, rather too noisy for our taste.

Footnote: 2 hours after writing this review, I caught an 8lb common carp using a dog biscuit as bait, so maybe the fishing is quite good!

I have just returned from my first seven night visit to Deers Glade with my husband and two small children. The site is well laid out in the middle of a forest which shelters you from wind and noise and also provides lovely walks. All the pitches are quite big and laid out in an interesting way so it doesn't look regimented.

The toilet block was very clean and although there are only two showers in each of the two blocks I never had to wait for a shower. Evenings were the busier time. My only remark would be that they could do with some steps for kids to stand on as they found it hard to reach the sinks and the sinks in the washing up area are a bit low so hard on the back.

Although the shop stocks a limited amount of goods it is fine for anything you need last minute like milk or washing up liquid.

The playground is small but enough to amuse the kids.

Deers Glade is wonderfully located for an endless list of attractions nearby. We went to at least one thing each day and the longest we travelled was 45 mins to Wells-next-the-sea for the beach. We still have loads to do on our next visit.

Would highly recommend this site to anyone and I will definitely be going back again.

Just got back from a 2 night stay at Deers Glade. It was a last minute decision to go camping but gave Deers Glade a call and fortunately they had a 'no show' hence there was space. We camped on Muntjac meadow just opposite the main site. Was brilliant with loads of space for the kids to do their thing. Great walks through the woods for some deer spotting and fishing on the main site. Communal bonfire at night and everyone gathers round for a chat and least not forget the marshmallows. Found the site very peaceful. As all the other reviews, this site is spot on. The staff are very friendly and helpful and the facilities are constantly cleaned throughout the day. Although fairly full, never found ourselves queuing for toilets or showers. There are 3 taps for drinking water on the site and areas for washing up and for emptying camping toilets.

On the main site there is a family/disabled bathroom which I expect is a help for some of the lesser abled campers out there and I get the impression that the main site is well suited and accessible for anyone wheelchair bound.

Would recommend this site without hesitation.

This is our third visit to Deersglade and we have had another fantastic holiday. Site was really busy but everywhere was kept spotlessly clean by the hardworking and friendly staff. We love this place and would definitely recommend to to anyone looking for the perfect base to explore the surrounding areas. Shower and toilet block were cleaned thoroughly every day. Cromer is 10 minutes away with plenty of shops and a fantastic beach for families. If you like fishing like my hubby then the lake is superb with a variety of fish stocked and the rates are very reasonable. Will definitely come back again and again.

Having just returned from our very first camping trip, which was a 2 night stay at the Muntjac site Deers glade, I felt compelled to let all campers (seasoned or green) know what a little gem this very pretty and very well run site actually is.

The husband, disgruntled boy teen, excitable younger brother of said teen and myself arrived 3 hours early at the site. Yes I know how extreme that is but you have not met the husband. Anyway our initial idea was to find the site then kill some time in neighbouring Sherringham before returning to pitch at 2pm. I need to point out here that I am a very fussy devil and never miss a thing but my first impressions upon arriving were ones of pure delight.

The secluded woodlands that surround the site are well away from the main road and the camping/caravan area itself is very well thought out with little low hedges around the roomy, flat pitches. The reception area is also the shop and whatever it may lack in overpriced commercial rubbish it makes up for in charm and a warm welcome. Don't worry they do stock all the basics, ie wine etc.(wine is a basic need when you are outnumbered 3 males to 1 female) To our surprise the guy on reception allowed us to go ahead and set up straight away.

We were staying in the Muntjac field across from the main site (our dates were fully booked for a stay on Deers glade). Unlike Deers glade there is no EHU on Muntjac for regular camping at the moment. We were allowed to choose where we camped but were advised to leave a 4 metre gap between us and any neighbours. I will admit to feeling a little deflated when we turned into Muntjac after seeing the main site. It was just a field wasn't it!? Well I was to be proven wrong! This field had luxury showers and toilet facilities to mock some 4 star hotels I have stayed in.The staff kept them very clean and we never had to queue. The atmosphere here was very upbeat yet chilled and I actually found myself liking it.

The walk to the other site was short (about 8 mins) so using the play area or fishing lake is not a problem. Young son loved the play area and teen was impressed with the mini wooden jetties on the fishing lake. We had unfortunately chosen the worst time weather wise to try camping, it being the middle of August and all, as our first night was so windy it felt like a scene from 'The day after tomorrow' in our little tent. Needless to say the central camp fire was not lit that night but to our delight was given the go ahead the next night. I can't tell you how long I have wanted to sit around a campfire and gaze up at the stars and this did not disappoint.

The shower and toilets in the main site are plentiful and again of a very high standard. Walks in the woods a must. The hog roast is only a Saturday evening event which we sadly missed. Please visit the seaside town of Sherringham, the body boarding conditions look good and you can catch the steam trains into Holt there, another lovely little town with great shops when you finally get parked.

The kids tried out Hilltop adventure park on the Sherringham road. You can pay and play there at certain times of the day They both tried out 2 adrenaline inducing activities each and loved it, although I came away with more grey hairs than when I went in. Heights are not my thing.

Another hit was the Muckleburgh collection of war artifacts, tanks, weapons, uniforms etc in Weybourne. You can have a 10 min ride in an army personnel carrier for an extra fee. For food shopping use the Morrisons in Cromer, it is soo much cheaper! To be fair we were trying to do this break on a budget so did not visit any pubs or restaurants to make judgement but with a site like this you really don't feel the need to use them.

What I'm trying to say is how Deers glade draws you away from wanting to spend your time following the heard. With no club house or amusements and games rooms, not once did I hear the words 'Mum can I have some money for.' or 'It really doesn't cost that much.' I had my families full attention, which is a novelty I can assure you. What this place offers is back to basics but done with knobs on and pure class.Get yourselves there and get back your family, if only for a short time. Yes sadly mine are already lost in the virtual gaming world and we have only been home a few hours. I need to go online and book another visit to Deers glade. Where's my switch card?
