We stayed at this camp site over the weekend and were very impressed with it all round. It is set in a beautiful location and conveniently placed within walking distance from the center of Cheddar and the gorge. We received a very warm welcome from Jules and never felt out of our element despite being reasonably new to the camping experience. The booklet he supplied was very professional and provided invaluable information such as places to eat, attractions to visit, cash point locations and supermarkets. We even received a discount on our meal when we told them where we were staying! On Sunday we went to a huge car-boot sale and both found some amazing buys. The atmosphere at the campsite was relaxed and friendly.
The only possible negative is the lack of showers but as we were only staying for one night it wasn’t an issue.
All in all I would highly recommend this site to anyone thinking of visiting Cheddar.

Enjoyed fabulous huge field with a few tents dotted around the edges. Julian and family were very hospitable, helpful and kind. Fires in the evening were a bonus. U
Sed showers at local swimming pool which was fine. I'd return to this site as it's a great location, simple and uncommercialised. Easy walking / cycling to Cheddar. Julian lent us a map and found a walk around the gorge.

Great place. If you're camping because you want to have a chat and a drink around your own campfire, have space for the children to play and make new friends and relax under the stars, spend some time at Petruth Paddocks.
You couldn't find friendlier or more helpful hosts than Julian and his son, Steve. What a welcome!
The site offers masses of flat, easy pitching. The facilities are basic but fine. Steve supplies logs and kindling so you can have a proper campfire - bliss! The children loved the ancient Land Rover parked up in the field to play on.
Nearby Cheddar Gorge is stunning (walkable or a very short drive)- well worth a visit with plenty to keep a family busy.

We Stayed for two night's with our one year old little girl. It was a out first time camping and a great experience. The site is very family orientated, julian and steve were great, julian even helped set our tent up in the rain.
Though there are no shower facilities, it was a total camping experience and lots of fun. Would recommend anyone to go there.

Really enjoyed staying here! Loved being able to light the campfires! Wood was a bit expensive though.
Almost all facilities nearby that you need and close enough to all Cheddar's tourist attractions.
Loved the Go-Kart track next door.
Owner was very helpful and friendly.
Very basic campsite. Just a toilet block and sinks. Has electricity if you want it. Because the Paddocks are so big and spacious you get quite a bit of privacy.

Exceeded expectations. Very child friendly. 2 adults and a 5 year old boy. Julian and Steve were really friendly, a really chilled out place. Enough room to fly kites and play football. It's a couple of fields, basic toilets, no showers. This is a camping adventure, fab for 1 or 2 nights unless you're a proper soap dodger!lol Tyre swing and old landrover for the kids to play on, Julian gave the kids a trailer ride delivering the logs to campers for campfires, small charge for logs, our child loved it, so did we! Ten to fifteen minute walk to Gorge, some nice pubs and restaurants. We're definitely going to go back for another night. Recommended.

Just spend 2 awesome days and nights at petruth paddocks, when we arrived we had a very warm welcome from julian the owner who showed use to a perfect pitch with lots of room and beautiful views, we were provided with tinder and logs (for a small charge) for an open fire, after pitching up we got the fire lit and relaxed with a few beers the true camping experience, pubs are only a short walk away roughly 10mins and a further 10mins to cheddar gorge, toilets were nice and clean too, if your after a relaxing and mellow time I would recommend this site 100%

Nice camp site and location. Liked the idea of having a camp fire with wood supplied on the site.
Clean toilet block but would have like a shower on site(showers can be taken at the nearby sports hall).
The field is flat and there is plenty of room, you're not all piled in on top of each other.
The owners gave us a guide to the area showing the best places to eat and drink, which we found useful.
It is only a short walk into Cheddar where there's plenty of pubs, takeaways and shops for supplies and its not a long walk to the gorge but its probably worth taking transport if you want to go right through it.

My family and I enjoyed staying at Petruth Paddocks. We had a lovelly weekend. The site is close proximity to the gorge which was great as we had young children so did not want too much of a walk. Julian was a lovely helpful man and helped up put up our tent and helped make us some hooks as ours were broken.
I was however a little disappointed that the grass had not been cut when we arrived early August as this was a bit of a struggle in the tent and the field was pretty boggy in places. I felt the children's play area could have been better as it was a tyre on a rope although I don't think they offered a play area at all so something is better than nothing. I was also a little disappointed in the toilets as I think the website said 'toilet block' when actually it is a trailer with 4 toilets and no hot water.
But as I say all in all a fab time. I would definitely use the site again for a weekend.

Just returned from two nights at this campsite and what a little gem it turned out to be. It is very basic. Two very large fields with only one toilet block (two female toilets and the same for the guys). The toilets are keycoded so that the campers can use them rather than the people who have those facilities in their caravans. But enough of the toilets, the area was beautiful and very peaceful. Julian welcomed us and spent some time telling us about the area. Only 10 minutes walk from the centre of cheddar. Wood for campfires was provided for a small fee (which was hastily paid for the pleasure of an open fire). We will return next year. The only improvement I could think of would be some bins and maybe another toilet block but camping is about basics and I would wholeheartedly recommend this lovely site. See you next year!
