Four night stay in the first week of August.

I chose this camp site for it's location to the M6 and found it ideal as we did two days at Alton Towers and one at Drayton Manor.

The site is very well kept and is pleasant.

The pitches on the site are clearly marked and there is plenty of room between each pitch. You do need to use rock pegs!

The toilet and shower facilities were good and were kept very clean, considering we had heavy rain and it was sodden underfoot. Could be improved with the addition of a small bench by the showers. Washing up facilities also good. Soap/detergent supplied for all.

Vending machines well stocked for snacks, hot/cold drinks and Pot Noodles. Newly installed McCain chip vend was having teething problems and kids stole all the ketchup sachets.

Freezer for ice packs.

The children's play park is better than our two local parks.

Several Chinese and Curry house deliver to site which we found ideal after a long day at the theme parks.

Didn't use the on-site shop as it was only open 5-7pm weekdays and we weren't back in time.

Supermarkets within six miles of site in Penkridge and Cannock (24hrs).

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this site.

Spent 4 days on this site travelling from the North East. Lots of space, very friendly staff, good toilet block facilities - the essentials ticked for us!

The 4 fishing ponds make for a very scenic outlook, even if you're not into fishing, as we're not! Lots of space between pitches for playing, not crammed in at all.

Music in the toilet blocks, always clean, 3 sinks for washing up, never had to wait. Along with a chip and pot noodle dispenser making handy for snacks.

Great play park for the kids, right in the centre of the pitches.

Shop open only 2 hours during the week (5-7), open more at the weekends though :)

Easy access to Alton Towers, Birmginhgam city centre, Cannock & Penkridge markets.

Noise from the M6 was audible, but nothing to cause problems, just a sound you drift off to following the wine!

Will return again, with my trailer which they kindly offered to secure as we had only just purchased it!

Recommended.

This is a beautiful site with a wonderful playpark. Our kids never wanted to leave it.

We arrived on a very, very wet day & even so the land was well drained & the staff constantly put more gravel on the paths.

It is very close to Cannock Chase which is brilliant for a day out.

The toilets & showers were clean & warm & had music playing which was nice apart from the weird selection of songs( hadn't heard the crazy frog for years & hope not to again!)

They had menus on the wall for various takeaways that delivered which would be useful. There was a little on site shop that was reasonable.

Have previously left a review about this site and have returned twice since and have booked up to go again in a few weeks. Just want to say again how great this site is.

- The staff are really friendly, facilities are great and kept very clean.

- Showers are separate, 'lockable' cubicles (so even if cleaners are male it really shouldn't matter) with a mirror and plenty of hooks for towels and washbags.

- Disabled toilet.

- Small shop on the site selling toys, ice-creams and even BBQ's.

- Fishing facilities are very good, with a choice of pools. They are open pools however the site is very large and older children have plenty of space to run around and play well away from the water's edge, and younger children should be supervised regardless of water. So very family friendly.

- My son loves the play area with a large sandpit.

Overall a superb site in a great location, can't wait to go back.

I've just returned from a two night stay visiting relatives and in the main found the site to be a useful spot to know. Relatively close to the M6, 20 mins to Lichfield and 30 mins from Tamworth, just to give you an idea.

Upon arrival the staff were very friendly and obliging and despite driving through the business / industrial bit (which is minimal), one is then directed down a track to the camping / caravan field with both electric and standard pitches. Pitch sizes are decent and the field is very flat. But be prepared to take some hard ground pegs as it's very stony underneath.

There is a lovely playground & sandpit which is quite central in the field with small fishing pools around the edge. Whilst the playground has wooden fencing, it isn't entirely secure and I wouldn't leave my two year olds to run free due to the water, though for slightly older children it's absolutely perfect as you can see the playground from many pitches. The field is relatively exposed, though there is hedging around the perimeters. Oh and there is an adult only field.

The toilet block was immaculate and showers were lovely and warm, though be aware there is a male cleaning attendant who seems to clean whether you are in there or not and doesn't wait for you to dress before entering, as a female I found that a little disconcerting!

Great service from local indian and chinese who deliver to your tent door which was perfect after a long drive and wet pitch of our tent!

We visited this site for our first family expedition! We chose it primarily as it was not too far to travel (we live 30 mins away.) and it seemed to have all the amenities we wanted and space on the Bank Holiday weekend.

We had such a brilliant time. The weather was superb which obviously helped but even so the site was a big factor adding to our enjoyment. The toilets / showers were regularly cleaned and considering it must have been one of the busiest weekends of the year I didn't have to wait at all for the toilets and only had a short wait for the showers. The toilet block was warm and I liked the music. Great idea.

The Little shop had an amazing array of useful things to buy (considering the size) and at reasonable prices too. The children's play park was brilliant. My girls had a great time while I sat reading on the very comfortable bench (though I am unsure as to the wisdom of a sandpit when camping - thankfully my two didn't notice it.) There were a number of local take aways that deliver to the site (though we went out to a wonderful pub in Stone.)

I agree wholeheartedly with the previous poster who said the staff were available without being intrusive. They were spot on, polite and friendly.

We had plenty of room between the pitches. The girls were able to kick a ball about by the tent, and when some boys were asked to move their cricket game (because they were on a pitch that had to be used), the member of staff directed them to another field with a big open area they could use (stressing they should tell their parents where they were off to first - top marks!)

The water points were very well located, the scenery was lovely. There were geese and gosling's and ducks and ducklings on one of the ponds.

The only down points for us were that the Birmingham District Camping and Caravanning club were in the next field complete with full on disco tent! But this was bank holiday weekend and we still managed to get to sleep. I also don't think the noise went on past 11pm (though I was asleep by then so I am not sure)

We only paid £10 per night which I thought was very reasonable and the site had a lovely friendly relaxed vibe. We had some visitors on the Sunday and this was no issue at all. We were allowed two cars by each pitch, and there was a car park as well.

We have another two trips booked at different types of sites but I certainly think we will be back to Pillaton as it is so convenient for us and ticked a lot of boxes, particularly the space around the pitch and the obvious effort made by the staff.

 A really lovely friendly site.

I only stayed one night passing through further North but the family were really friendly and very helpful, even offering to help me put up my tent in the pouring rain.

I'm not into fishing but this would be a great place to come and chill out and fish. Very convenient for the M6 but not so close as to disturb.

The facilities are new and clean and lovely. Also very reasonably priced.

Highly recommended.

Great site , very welcoming we really enjoyed our stay here. The toilets were dated and they could do with being a bit more modern , they were still at a good standard only one problem with the toilets was the boiler and pumps kept breaking so you got no shower or a cold one or sometimes a hot one.

The site is very relaxing , the 4 fishing pools are a great attraction for the site , if your a big fishing person then this is the place to go , I caught a 7 1/2 pound carp in 1 hour of fishing on day 1.

The park and pot noodle machine and shop is great for entertaining the kids , the shop is small but seems to have everything you need from bread to slush puppies

The park is great , our younger kid never came off it

Just returned from a 3 night stay at Pillaton. This is the 1st time we have been camping and I have to say I now have the bug. Campsite is clean and tidy.

We have 3 children and they loved every minute of it and had lie in every morning as they were that tired from all the playing. Childrens playarea is good and central to main fields so you feel safe letting them go and play.

Toilets were clean and showers were warm and free. Think they were cleaned 3-4 times a day at least.

The little shop is great and has everything you may have forgotten. Weather was great and so this made the weekend even better.

Pitches were large with plenty of room to play. I hope that all our trips now live up to this one.

Staff were very friendly and helpful and always around without being intrusive. This gives it a relaxed atmosphere but knowing there are rules in place so everyone can have a great time.

No bad points to report!

We will definitely be returning just trying to work out when! (Although we have to find room for fishing gear next time too!)

Just returned from an overnight stay at Pillaton Hall Farm. We only live 17 miles away but the scenery and location are really nice, you could be a million miles from home.

Bad Points:

Music in the toilets whilst a good idea, it was just a bit too loud.

The showers were so hot with no way of turning them down, I almost scalded myself and there was no way I could put my child in at that temperature.

Good Points:

The site itself is easy to get to and located just off the motorway near Cannock chase. Well kept, clean, tidy site with four pools which are ideal for fishing whilst still being close to the caravan and facilities.

The toilets were clean with vending machines, one of which a pot noodle vend is ideal. We ordered a chinese meal (Menu's available in toilet / shower / washing up block) which was really good, especially as it was raining so hardly BBQ weather.

We will definitely visit again, right on the doorstep for a quick weekend getaway, our six year old loved the play area and sand pit. There's even a dog field fenced off where you can exercise your dogs safely.

*Watch out for duck pooh
