Just a delightful site. The pitch was vast, level, bordered by hedges and with a view to die for across the French countryside. Excellent walking around the farmland, dog-friendly and with lots of animals (sheep, goats, pig, Poitou donkey etc ) if you have children (they do tours round the farm on a trailer). Very quiet, with lots of wildlife (we saw stone curlews!).

The lady in reception gave us a warm welcome. She had limited English, but this was good as it forced me to dredge up my O level French (largely unused for 50 years).

The shower/toilet block is still undergoing some work, but there were plenty open, with the most spacious showers I have encountered on a site, We didn't use the pool, and the bar does not open until July.

If you want a quiet, attractive site within easy reach of many of the Loire attractions (e. G. 5 miles from Chaumont-sur-Loire) then this is the place for you.

As previously mentioned this is a working farm and way out in the countryside.

The site was under going major refurbishment and upgrade / extension of the facilities with additional toilets, showers and dish washing facilities. Because we visited so early in the season this work was still ongoing. I still think the finished facilities will be basic but functional and clean. New roadways had been laid, but I think if the trees and hedges grow much more they are in danger of catching windows or side panels With overhanging branches.

We had a friendly welcome from the owner who's english was better than my French. She showed us to an area where we had a choice of pitches which was so big I was able to do a you turn on it in our 9m motorhome. The pitch overlooked the enormous field next to the site, there was no hege, so the grass stopped and the field began, you could see for miles.

The site was virtually empty with just 1 other motorhome on it. This meant it was incredibly quiet and as we had fantastic weather it can only be described as memorable.

We were given a very handy 'what's on' guide so as well as visiting Blois we also went to the picturesque town of Amboise so visit the market and explore, a great recommendation.

We had a great time and loved it, but I don't know if it would be the same if the site was busy and it was raining!

We stayed for 10 nights in a tent. The site was about two thirds full and we were able to select the pitch to suit our requirements, this was perfect as we were able to locate ourselves close to the playground. If you prefer privacy you can stay on the outer fringes.

The French staff were excellent. They speak broken English which means you have to try and speak some French, I personally found this a great challenge and was mutually amusing.

Facilities are plentiful and varied, there are family showers, single WC's, etc. This means the queues are virtually non existent. There is also a couple of fridges as well as a microwave and cooker on site. If you don't fancy cooking you can book a table in the morning for an evening meal, or a pizza. They also sell wine for 3 Euros a bottle! Nothing is new or state of the art but well looked after and works well.

There is a paddling pool as well as a larger swimming pool, thankfully separating toddlers from older kids. Relieved parents can lounge around the outside of the pool.

The campsite has an itinery board which includes a tractor trailer ride around the farm. This is a must. There is also rabbit stroking, bread making and marshmallows on the camp fire. All are free.

The playground is very old school, all the better for it. Older kids spend their evenings on complimentary bikes or running around with torches. We found the atmosphere really relaxed and came away with very fond memories and totally switched off. For those that need to be connected there is free wifi near the bar and swimming pools.

Highly recommended, would go back.

We had a lovely stay at Ferme Du Prunay. It is a working farm and was surrounded by fields of sunflowers all ready to flower - in July/August it will be stunning. They have lots of animals - geese, a turkey, rabbits, goats, sheep, pigs, chickens and a donkey, but for our daughter the star attractions were the dogs, well the puppies.

We got to pick our pitch (no 21), just by the playground which was a blessing as our daughter spent most of her time there playing and making friends with the other children. The playground looks a bit tired but is actually quite charming, with swings, slides, roundabouts, see-saws, a rocking horse and a climbing frame. The pitch was very generous, we took our 5 man tent (Outwell Nevada M) with a porch and an estate car and there was plenty of room to spare. It had electrical hook up, which we didn't use.

The facilities are good - rather than there being a toilet block, there are unisex toilets, showers and sink rooms lined up around the outside edge of the barn and a big kitchen area in the middle. They were all clean during our stay and there was always hot water. I was really pleased to find two fridges tucked away at the back of the kitchen area, one was a big glass fronted fridge, the kind you find in shops, the other a domestic one with a small ice-box at the top. This meant we could refreeze our ice-blocks for free. Little things make such a difference! Also there was a free standing cooker, which was electric I think.

The site had a pool, the water was quite cold and during our stay it seemed to be the windiest part of the site! My husband and daughter ventured in on the couple of especially hot days we had. The bar was open until 9pm during our stay but during peak season it opens longer. They served food, alcohol, soft drinks and ice-creams and you can order croissants and mini baguettes for the following morning which you collect from the bar.

There were also internet points in the room between the reception and the bar, we didn't use this as we didn't take a laptop. You can also pick up leaflets about local attractions here too.

Most of the visitors during our stay had motorhomes or caravans, but because the site is so discretely, or sympathetically laid out it doesn't feel like you're on your neighbour's doorstep when you leave the tent. Each pitch had trees and small bushes growing between them so the view from the tent was mostly green (that's a good thing, but I'm not describing it very well!). Also, and I don't know how useful it is to know this, most of the other visitors were Dutch.

The farm is a short drive from Blois, the nearest big town, bue we spent more time going in the opposite direction towards Amboise. There was a lovely market on Sunday morning. We were given a really useful sheet when we arrived which had some recommendations for Chateaux, markets, towns to visit. There are lots of vineyards in the region and the local wine, from Touraine-Mesland, available at the bar, was very nice and very local too.

Positives - beautiful campsite, nice owners and a beautiful region with lots of attractions to keep you busy. The site feels safe and relaxed and it was quiet in the evenings too.

Down-side - we didn't speak enough French and I feel sure that if we did we would have had an even nicer stay - but that's not a comment on the campsite. Just be aware that the owners do not speak English, so have those phrasebooks at the ready and just go for it!

We have visited this campsite twice now. We were there last year for a few days and loved it so much that we spent 2 weeks there this year. It is very much farm camping in no other way than the French can do. The site is surrounded by fields. Last year they were sunflowers, this year it was wheat and barley.

The pitches are between 200 and 400m2 allowing all sorts of tents and caravans to pitch. You can even put more than one tent up and share the cost of the pitch between families if you fancy. You can use the trees on the pitches to put up washing lines or shade.

The showers and toilet blocks are very basic but clean.

The children's playground is quite big and there are additional facilities on the outer edge of the site for football, basketball and volleyball. They have animal petting (rabbits, chickens or whatever they have that year!). Up the forest path there are more animals such as pigs, goats, donkeys, turkeys, chickens and a horse.

Once a week they have a campfire out on the grass area and they also organise trips out to local places such as a goat farm where they show you round the farm and then you can buy the cheese, wine and honey at a small market. During the summer a few people come to the site and sell their wears as well - a butcher, jam maker, wine and jewellery.

The swimming pool is good for cooling off and is big enough for a good play. There is also a paddling pool for the younger campers.

There is the old farm pond on which you can take the rowing boat out or fish in.

The bar is open from 8am til 9pm (or whenever the last camper leaves!) You can order bread and croissant etc the night before for the following morning. The nearest shops are 2km or 8km. They also sell ice-cream and run a basic menu and pizza take-away. We ordered chips for take-away as well.

The campsite is in a lovely central location for Blois, Amboise and Chaumont (at the bottom of the hill). Chambord is about 30mins away.

We had a really lovely and relaxing time here and would recommend it to anyone who fancies a quiet time and not worry about the children. You do however have to be prepared for the way it is very basic. We liked it but some may prefer more home from home bathroom facilities this is not that.

There is one other slight problem with this site which the proprietor desperately wants to change and that is to have more English people visit them! At the moment it seems that they are very popular with the Dutch.
