Had three days at this site, never stayed before but would highly recommend if you like to relax amongst chickens and free range ducks, the site owners are lovely people and are attentive without being imposing, very clean site, stunning lake and only a short drive from southport. Returning may bank holiday its that good.

Just returned from another amazing weekend. We were greeted as we arrived and as always made to feel very welcome. We spent all Saturday with a picnic by the lake with our 2 girls using our kayak. They thoroughly enjoyed themselves, even found a nest and eggs in the bullrushes. The giant fish jumping up in the sunshine. Bliss.
The owners are so hands on giving so much time to us with their knowledge, we always come back knowing more than we went with. We enjoyed eggs from their hens and the most tastiest strawberries we have ever had from their harvests. They also have new potatoes, gooseberries and beautiful plants and flowers. We have brought some home to plant here. We enjoyed being shown the newly hatched ducklings and time was always found to answer the girls questions. They have a big field with Eric hookups and small park fir the little ones, if time is found!, and a rally field. They have even put in a loo and soon to be shower for those who need. There is also an information room with brewing facilities and places to sit.
Indeed a gem and we can't wait to return again!.
We love our time here

It is a few years since we visited this site but upon our return we found things unchanged. Ron and Liz are still very attentive and helped us select our pitch. There was only one other unit on but later in the week a 3rd then a 4th unit arrived and the 2nd weekend a 5th unit arrived. Liz still sells her homegrown produce and she kindly pointed out that the Booth's Supermarket in Hesketh Bank reduced the price of their fresh produce around 14:30! The store has a great range of meats, cheese and bottled British Beers. There is a Plant Nursery a short distance from the site which is well worth a visit, we purchased an apple tree at about 50% of what one pays at Big Name Nurseries. Landsdowne is proving to be a popular location for Rallies with around 20 booked in for this year. We will be returning later in the year!

Just come back from a 2 night stay at this beautiful site. We have stayed 3 times at different times of the year and each time we have really enjoyed our stay.
The owners meet you and cannot be any more helpful.
Its a very relaxed site, with lovely views over the fields with horses and birds. The owner sells her organic fruit and veg. We have loved the strawberries at only 50p for a huge punnet!
This weekend we have spent our time sunbathing by the lake side, flying kites and kayaking in the lake. Couldn't wish for anything better.
Cant wait to return again and again!

As part of a large group of family and friends we stayed at Landsdowne Camping. We all like to camp together, we have several tents, trailer tents, motor homes and caravans. The site was well maintained. The area lovely with a fishing lake that the kids could also canoe on if they wanted, up to date with all safety equipment. The owner was fantastic and also arranged 2 porta loos for us they could not do enough to help. A little playground for the smaller kids went down very well. Some very nice and flat cycle rides or walks in the area and Southport just 3 miles down the road. Couple of miles the other way in the village was good shops and pubs. Good for public transport, bus stop just few yards away with regular buses. The field was nice and flat with 5 electric hook ups and plenty of water points, and the usual elson point. The owner has welcomed us back to visit as we are a well organised and tidy group we will sure to be re-visiting soon.

Just returned from Landsdowne cl site. It was the most relaxing break I have had in a good while.
As other caravan owners have said both Mr & Mrs Tyson cannot do enough for you, you are a person here and not a number they take the time to walk around and ask if everything is ok,
The fishing is very good and a good price per day
Will be visiting again that is for certain

A basic site with no facilities except hook-up and chemical toilet disposal but very friendly owners and well maintained grassy field.
It's on the main road but we weren't bothered by noise. Some tent campers arrived while we were there and a chemical lavvy in a little garden shed was provided for them!
There's a fishing lake and buses to Southport or Preston so all you could hope for really. If you're after a quiet get-away this is ideal.
We walked to the Ribble Estuary through farmland. Plenty of bird-watching. Ponies and a big friendly dog.
At only £10 per night we thought it was excellent value and would recommend it.

We stayed here on 3 or 4 weekends in October/November and have to agree with the other comments. Ron & Liz couldn't have been more helpful.
We often walked over the fields opposite to do a spot of birdwatching. Tarleton was a pleasant little village and of course it is only 15/20 minute drive to Southport with all its attractions.
We can recommend the 'Swiss Chalet' for an excellent value for money meal!

Having spent 3 nights touring the Southport area, we stayed at Lansdown for 2 of them,we found Mr & Mrs Tyson to be the most helpful accommodating people. The area has had an awful amount of rain, and the CS field was very boggy, but we were directed to an area of hardstanding.
The site has 10 amp hook ups and water at every pitch, there is plenty of room to walk your dog and it is a nice walk through the farm to the boating and fishing lake in the bottom field. There is a small play area for the children with a climbing frame and no limitations on where and when they can play, also they have a garden room full of tourist information which is very useful. You will need your own toilet and shower on board.
The farm has two friendly horses Bertie and Daisy and lots of Ducks and Chickens running free. There are local shops within about 2 miles of the site in either direction and plenty of takeaways. A very regular bus service goes right past the site that takes you into Southport and then onto Liverpool. Anthony Gormly`s Another place is worth a visit at Crosby(iron men standing looking out to sea) and also Formby Point, where you can see Red Squirrels, you can park right by the beach, as it is National Trust parking charges are £4.20 a day but it is well worth it. Formby Point also has the remains of the first ever lifeboat station and also Stone age man footprints on the beach,if you can find them. If we are ever in the area again this would be a first port of call for a hassle free stay!
Thanks for having us!

Just returned from a very relaxing weekend at Landsdowne. Highly recommended. Fantastic for children as they can have the freedom to run wild, see the horses and the birds while not moving off the farm. The owners cannot do enough for you and made us feel very welcome. Plenty to do around the area. This site is a little gem and we will definitely be making this a regular site for us to visit on a regular basis.
