We booked this site as its local but we wanted Xmas 'away in the van', I have passed it many times as its only about 12 miles from home! but WOW what a site & really I shouldn't be telling everyone as next time I want to go it will more than likely be full! It has so much that you wouldn't expect on a 5 van site, one of the best shower / toilet rooms that I have been in & the best laundry / drying/information rooms I have ever seen! The grounds are so nicely laid out & the hard standing is very good, as someone else put the only thing that I heard was an owl. Also thanks for offering to tow our van home when I was taken ill. This is a site we will be using many times.

What a lovely site!
We arrived on the Friday evening and were able to settle in straight away as our pitch number was written up for us on a welcome board.
The owner allowed us to get sorted then came over and ran through the site information with us - we (including our two little girls) were made to feel very welcome.
In the glorious light of day we could really appreciate the site and its surroundings - the newly planted woodland area with the mown paths through it made a lovely feature that our 5 year old enjoyed 'exploring' - seeing rabbits and slugs and other 'wildlife' as she put it!
This area will just get better and better as the trees mature. The views are lovely, and the picnic tables that have been placed around the site for our use make the most of them. (There is an unfenced pond on the site so young children do need to be closely supervised)
The toilet and shower room is immaculate and served as a family bathroom for all of us to use at once - the shower is huge and free and the owners must have noted the comment about the cold floor as there's now rubber matting down to stand on!
There's also laundry facilities and information about the area.
Whilst there isn't a mass of attractions on the doorstep, there is the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight museum nearby at Conningsby and Gunby Hall (NT) about 20min drive away. However, the name says it all - this is a retreat from the hustle and bustle of daily life - a beautiful place to relax in and take notice of the environment around you - we enjoyed a show from a playful stoat over breakfast one morning, and fell asleep to the sounds of owls - fabulous!
We highly recommend this site.

Found this site in caravan book and decided to give it a try. The pitches are tiered on hard standing with grassed area.
Very friendly owners that give you all information about the area, places of interest, where to eat, walks etc.
They have lots of leaflets in the reception plus a large map with trail walks.
The shower, sink and toilet is kept clean. They have a pond but not for fishing. The views from the pond area is spectacular and the owners have placed seats for taking in the views.
Horncastle is a quaint little town with plenty of shops including tesco and co op. The visit to the fish and chip shop is a must where you can eat in or take away.
With the birds singing what better place to set up. We will be returning to this site.

We had arranged the booking online and was informed that we were to be the first campers to use the site, it was just the one night stop for £14.00 with E H U.
On arrival we had a friendly greeting and a comprehensive tour of the site and facilities. We walked our two dogs up to the top of the sites hill and was rewarded with lovely views over the countryside (even though it was pretty much white everywhere) as this is not a typical Lincoln shire flat location.
The pitches are hard standing and level, all the bins, taps and waste are in a dedicated area within easy reach of the pitches.
The surrounding trees have bird boxes and the whole site is designed to encourage wildlife which should be interesting in the summer.
We used the shower which is in an you n-lockable room shared with the toilet and wash basin, the water was hot and the shower was adjustable, the floor is very cold after exiting the shower onto slate tiling.
A quiet site with some traffic on the nearby road, there's also cottages available on site.
We would use the site again for a one night stop, but there's nothing in walking distance to keep us for longer.
