Well we're back again, it's starting to appear that we only use Heathside, well we do almost, as it's such a Fantastic site to stay on, during our latest visit the camp was full for the weekend and early week, and even with the extra hussle and bustle still a fantastic place, cues for the showers wern't that bad, and I know a new cleaner has just started so any issues from the previous review should now have been delt with, although as I've said in previous reviews there is a mop bucket to clear your own muddy footprints up for the next user, (its not difficult and only polite to leave the rooms as you find them)there are also signs on the doors to keep them shut(again common sense but unfortunately some people cannot read or just choose to ignore them. Even when the camp was full we managed to get great TV signal (although we don't come to Heathside to watch TV so much more to do ;) ) and the internet was sproadic but considering the number of people accessing it still acceptable, and now that there are only a few units on site it's much quicker but again how long does it take to check emails ? And before the internet and wired TV everyone managed with a local phonebox and a battery opperated radio. The laundry room uses modern machines and are reasonably priced compared with laundrettes locally which we had used before The owners installed these machines and so much more convenient. IMHO Heathside is still the best value for money has a awesome location and facillities that are second to none with super friendly owners and staff.

We've just returned from Heathside and it is a cracking little site but also quite frustrating.

Booking in is a pleasant experience thanks mainly to the very helpful lady in the shop. The pitches are well spaced out and bordered by growing shrubbery and the grounds are well maintained. There is a electric hook up, tap and TV ariel point between every other pitch which essentially offers serviced pitches.

The children's play area and nature trail are wonderful and with two large fields available for the children to play in there is space for everyone. The three resident donkeys are also a welcome addition.

The well stocked shop was reasonably priced and although the laundry room may be a touch on the expensive side, it saved a trip to the launderette in Halesworth.

I appreciate the following niggles may appear silly but its frustrating to see such a lovely site falling slightly short and doing itself a massive misjustice.

Having stayed on this site twice this year the TV signal supplied by the ariel point on the pitches can be patchy (this is Suffolk) but does seem better on the left side than the right. The WiFi is also very hit and miss in the main camping field, although the camping pods seem to receive a much better WiFi signal. Do not go here expecting to be able to stream TV off their WiFi.

The gents toilets consist of 1 x toilet, 1 x urinal and 1 x shower. The ladies consists of 2 x toilets and 1 x shower. The disabled toilet doubles as an overflow facility and family room. It certainly doesn't feel like you can take your time with your morning ablutions. Unfortunately the toilet block doesn't seem to benefit from the much of a cleaning regime. When the site is full they receive a lot of use and get dirty quite quickly. Ventilation in all of the showers is a massive issue. There are only windows in the ladies and despite my reporting it, the extractor fans do not work. There is nothing worse than not being able to dry off properly due to excessive air moisture.

Some extra attention to my gripes would make this a first class site. At the moment though I don't feel the pitch fee per night warrants the current charge.

5th Visit, starting to feel like locals at Heathside, we shared the site with a just one other Caravan and a Tent from the Monday till thursday, when a few more units arrived, by friday lunchtime the site was almost full, no problems with showers, OK there is only 1 male 1 female and a disabled shower, but we never had to wait that long for one to become free and they are always spotlessly clean, there is a mop and bucket available to mop up your own muddy footprints, but I guess that could be too much for some people, I like to leave things how I find them or better, pity everyone didn't do the same. We were on holiday so never in a hurry for anything, maybe we're just a bit laid back :). Camp shop still well stocked as usual and staff and owners friendly. They have also improved the nature trail walk with some bridges over the pond, loads of wildlife if you're quiet and wait for them. The field next door has now got some Glamping Pods, which look well equipped, might book one of them later for my parents to stay in, as they are getting to old for our caravan. 10 out of 10 again from us, Love the site love the area and feel its the best value for money at any site we've stayed at. With the Best staff ever.

Upon arrival you are welcomed by a very pleasant lady in the camp/village mace shop. You are given site information and given your allocated pitch number.

Pitches are of a good size and kept clean and tidy with shrubs and immature trees planted. Electricity and water are easily accessible at every other pitch.

The site is fairly new and much thought has gone into the lovely recreational areas, play area and pond, all of which are highly maintained.

Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for the shower/toilet area. Yes on first sight the new block seems to be all singing. However, there are simply not enough facilities for when the site is busy.

Our stay was on a busy bank holiday and as such it was difficult to find a non busy time to shower, when you finally manage to secure yourself a slot the water pressure is rather erratic ranging from a perfect shower to nothing more than a dribble then visa versa over and over again.

During our 3 night stay it was not obvious that any cleaning had taken place within the shower/toilet area. The only attention given was an oversized toilet roll left on top of each toilet.

This seems such a shame and is not in keeping with our overall impression of the whole site.

The site is in a wonderful location. Snape Maltings, Aldburgh and Southwold to name but a few.

Heathside is also within walking distance of a super village pub serving excellent food at reasonable prices and

We have stayed on this site a number of times and love it. It's a small site with spacious pitches. The well stocked shop has all the essentials. The play area and field gives lots of space for the children to play. There's nice walks around the bottom of the site where there's ponds around the small river.

The site's in a good location with lots to do within a short drive.

Only niggles are that when the site is full the shower block doesn't really have enough facilities, with only one shower in the men's and one in the ladies. Also the wifi doesn't reach the end of the site.

All in all a lovely little site in the countryside.

Stayed here for 2 nights. Very quite site in evening which was great. I agree though with other reviews that there are simply not enough toilets and showers, why they didn't install more is most odd as the site is quite new so they know roughly how many people would be using them!

Good size pitch which included water, electric and wifi, all for one price, it's done per pitch not per person which I liked, (a pity more campsites don't do this). The only problem we had with the pitch was that there were several potholes which I thought would have been filled in before we arrived. We ended up having one under the tent as we hadn't noticed it, so had to be really careful we didn't step into it and rip the flooring.

Walberswick and Southwold were great to visit as was Dunwich Heath. We would stay again but only for few nights.

This visit was our 4th trip to Heath-side, and we';re already planning our next trip.

After reading a couple of reviews here I can let you know that the issues some reviewers have put up regarding the Door lock on the Disabled toilet/shower The door does lock and always has and the owners have now put a sign up explaining how to lock (common sense to most people but not all ) the gap in the regular showers I didn't believe was an issue as most people would probably not even noticed it but can also let you know that this has been addressed and is no longer a problem.

Anyway back to my review. Heathside is a fantastic site to spend either a short or long break at, the site is spotlessly clean Toilets/showers general areas. The pitches are big enough to have space between vans, and new hedges have been added since our last visit (which when fully grown will allow even more privacy.

All pitches have access to Mains Water, Drainage, Power, TV Points and wireless Internet, the only thing you need to walk for is to empty the loo at the Toilet disposal which again is clean and fresh and not really visible from the site. The shop on site has a good selection of food newspaper and even wines, Beers, spirits, and even more importantly a well stocked ice cream fridge. The owners and staff are all friendly and helpful. If you've not guessed already I am a fan of this site and for good reasons, it's close enough to Southwold and halesworth and other attractions yet quiet and peaceful for some Rest and Relaxation.

This was our first time in this part of England and my husband found this site via UK campsites, when we arrived at the site we were really pleased with the location and the presentation of the site, the lady in the shop was very helpful and we had our pick of pitches. The site was very clean and well kept and we choose a pitch in view of the play park as we have two kids. The facilities on the site were ample for the size off campsite, reading previous reviews we were a bit dubious about the showers however we found no problems at all. You just pick your time to use them. Others have commented about no wardens being on site but to be honest you don't need them, the site was quiet after 10pm and the only thing that woke you up was the fantastic noise of the donkeys which we and the kids found great. The shop is a village shop and had some great deals so not as expensive as a normal camp site shop. (however it is worth noting it does not stock any camping/ caravanning equipment) this was not a problem for us. The owner was very friendly and told us about the local area and more importantly the local pubs which were great. Over all we had a fantastic 2 weeks here and will definitely be returning in the future

I had booked this site after finding it on the internet. I was impressed by the fully serviced pitches - both water and electric and also free wii fi all at a very reasonable all inclusive nightly rate (with no hidden extras or complicated Mathematics)! I was with my Husband, our 10 year old daughter and my elderly parents (in their late '70's/'80's).

First impressions of the site when we pulled on were of a well kept, newly opened site. We called at the Mace shop at the entrance - which I believe doubles as the 'village' shop. The lady was friendly and directed us to a gentleman who showed us to a choice of pitches. We chose the one we liked best although there was little to choose between them. The site was not busy - perhaps due to our daughter's school breaking up a week earlier than some other parts of the UK.

The grass was short and very dry - due to the spell of hot dry weather we were in the middle of. Although dry, it was not worn and there were no bare patches which we have known on other sites. There were newly planted hedges all around the site and in between pitches which, when grown will provide more privacy and screening. The facilities block adjoining the shop was in a timber building as can be seen in the photo. There were 2 ladies loos, 2 basins and a large shower. The mens, I am told was smaller with 1 loo, 1 urinal and 1 basin plus shower. Although this does not seem a lot we never experienced a queue. The block was kept spotlessly clean at all times. The whole building block has been carefully designed with a laundry room and chemical waste point incorporated. There was also 1 disabled toilet/washroom. There was a separate timber washing up building with large sink and worktop. It was covered and so would be perfectly usable in wet weather.

The owner of the site seems to take a real pride in it and during our stay we saw him gardening and planting the borders around the shop. He also told us about the marshes and lake at the bottom end of the site and said we were free to walk around. It was a haven for wildlife with wildflowers and plants being carefully managed. The lake was about to be introduced to some Ducks which were due to arrive after our departure - would have loved to have seen them. There is a great sense of space on the site with grass all around the camping/caravanning area and a large ball games field with goal post (footballs were even supplied) and a children's climbing frame with swing and slide. There were 3 resident Donkeys in a field which we loved to visit and say 'hello' to - a real draw for young children.

This really is an idyllic site in an perfect location. It is suitable for young and old. It is quiet, but due to the sense of space is great for children to burn off some energy and play a variety of games. It is very handy for the beautiful Suffolk coastal resorts of Southwold and Aldeburgh, Walberswick and Dunwich. It is also near to the RSPB reserve of Minsmere with it's bird hides and the Norfolk Broads are well within reach. We hired a day boat from Oulton Broad which was lovely and something we can recommend. The town of Beccles is worth a visit for the shops and also the lovely riverside walks. There are plenty of places to eat to suit all budgets (just beware the fish and chip shops tend to close at 8pm) and the 'local' pub is literally just up the road.

I would be hard pressed to find anything to dislike about this site. We loved it so much that we will return. Perhaps it would have been nice to see greener grass but it was purely a consequence of the heatwave conditions. The drainage is very good on site and so should not become boggy and waterlogged in wet weather. We did wonder if the facilities would be adequate at peak times and as the site was not fully booked during our stay we have to reserve judgement.

Nice clean site, plenty of room for children and dogs to play without annoying other campers. Limited toilets 1 mens 2 ladies and you can see in the showers as soon as you go in toilets! No lock on disabled shower/toilet so husband got a shock man and little girl in shower ! Very handy having water next to van with electric but water drain used to empty waste by some yuck! Overall clean campsite
