This is the site I like to tell everybody about! What a combination of conflicting factors.
You could almost drive past it, its a very unassuming farmhouse with a gravel driveway. When we first pulled onto the drive we had no idea where to go to find the 'reception' (because there isn't one!) so we carried on past the mound of rubble and burnt out bonfire until we drove onto the most beautiful looking meadow surrounded by rolling hills and farmland!
The camping field is immaculately well kept. It slopes downwards but as everybody pitched around the edge it didn't really matter. There are a few EHU used by tourers, many of whom seemed to be regulars, in one corner of the field. The field also had a couple of trampolines and a small play area. Because you could see all across the field it felt very safe and our young girls enjoyed the freedom of running around by themselves. There was also a nice dog walking area and a separate field. We only stayed so we were close to relatives so I cant comment on the surrounding area.
Then there are the 'facilities' - it's a good job I had succumbed to the beautiful view before I saw them. One outside toilet! Clean (ish) but very old. It was made from bare brick, there were cobwebs, and the door held shut with a big stone! Hilarious! Luckily we were only there for the night because there were no showers.
However, Betty was kind and friendly and the fee was just £5! (campervan, 2 adults, 2 children and a dog) Would I stay again? Yes, at that price, definitely.
