We arrived Friday morning. The first pitch was unstable for tent caravan or motor home due to slope and ditch. Elsan disposal point disgusting. Paid £198 for 11nights, 5th night family bereavement meant we had to leave. Asked about refund, said he had been caught out on that one before and refused. We shall return. Watch caravan with football

Lakewell is a lovely little site, 25 pitches spread across 3 small and intimate camping fields.

There is one field for camping with no electric hook ups and two other fields with electric.

The main camping field is very spacious and situated next to the small fishing lake with loads of room for the kids to play safely.

Our pitch was in the smaller upper field directly opposite the toilet and shower block.

The main appeal of this campsite is the intimate friendly feel, it is basic in it's design but that is also the charm of the place. Havnig spoken with the two ladies Abbie and Martha who groundskeep the place the idea they want to create is a small intimate campsite with the feel of being in the real countryside and we have to admit its a great idea and wonderful little spot.

Our main decision to choose Lakewell was the cost, family of four in a trailer tent, £18 a night with Electric hook up! AMAZING value and meant we could be right in the heart of our favourite county near to our favourite beach at Perranporth on budget prices, but with the luxury of electric hook up thrown in.

The shower block is still a work in progress, but having said that it was perfect for what you need it for. It's kept very clean, well stocked and has ample amount of hot water. 3 toilets and 3 showers in each of the Men's and Ladies sides but be warned, the hot water out of the sink taps and washing up taps could take your skin off if you're not careful, it's VERY hot!

We would certainly recommend this site if you like a quiet night, enjoy watching your kids playing outside with others from around the site and are on a budget but still want a little bit of luxury when you're camping. Well done to Lakewell, you're doing a grand job!

We stayed on this site for 11 days and were very happy. It is situated just outside Perranporth (best beach ever) and is a fantastic base for travelling around Cornwall. The owners, Karen and John, are lovely friendly people who made us feel very welcome. The amenities are very basic but adequate. The pitches are a decent size with lovely views of surrounding countryside. Looking forward to returning next year.

Fantastic little campsite which has just started up. The owners are extremely helpful and lived around the area long enough to be locals (even with a brummie accent) and therefore have the local knowledge. The site is in 2 adjacent fields with a fishing lake and even when fully booked up for electric hookups there is easily enough space for a game of rounders at night for the kids (and occasional adult). Very very friendly site. The top field was a bit of pain to get into in the motorhome but only because it chucked it down the whole of the summer.

We have just booked in again for this year and our friends have already rebooked for 6 weeks. Ideal for Perranporth and the Southern Newquay beaches (Holywell and Crantock) and close enough for shopping yet far enough away from Newquay nightlife !

Shower block even though not finished last year was great and presumably superb this year

The site was nice and the owners are very friendly and helpful. The pitches weren't very wide but were long and could have done with being better signed. There is plenty of parking space.

The site was well located for visiting the beach and surrounding areas. It was good value for money at £12 per pitch per night (inclusive of electric)

The site is still a work in progress site and to be honest the owners have a long way to go if they want to finish the site to a good standard.

The toilet and shower block is a log cabin and is only half finished.

The work that has already been carried out is a little bit shoddy but hopefully once it is completed then the finish will be better.

Overall the price was reasonable however there are quite of sites that are only a little bit more expensive and much much better. However if someone would want a basic site then I would recommend it.

My family of three stayed for a week from 28 July to the 4 August. It is a beautiful site. The grounds are well cared for and the small lake is beautiful. The lake does have rudd, roach, and trout. I caught some of each! The lake could do with being cleared as it is over grown and hard to get around the back side, but we still spent loads of time fishing.

The couple running it were very nice. They met us after we arrived and then didn't bother us after.

The toilets are clean, but are being refurbished. Looks like a disabled toilet is being added so hopefully they will be finished when we return next year!

There is not much for the kids to do, but our 8 year old made friends with the owners boys and another child. They enjoyed riding their bikes around the field and going to look at the chickens.

The local pub serves nice food as well as a carvery on certain evenings. Just up the road is the Callestick Farm Cornish ice cream farm where you can see the ice cream being made along with a few farm animals and a Cyder farm with farm animals and even peacocks are both free of charge.

Not far are cycle routes and footpaths, but you will need your car to get to them. We thought the cars drove too fast for cycling on the roads but we are new to it so may be just us! Tesco was either Truro (6. 36 miles) or Redruth (10 miles) so a fair drive.

Perranporth holds a fab beach and there is a co-operative there which is about 5. 5 miles. You can't complain given the price for an electric pitch is a mere £12 a night and it allowed us to enjoy our holiday knowing we weren't breaking the bank!

We will definitely be returning next year for 2 weeks! Thank you very much for a wonderful week!

Just come back from a rather wet two weeks in Cornwall where we stayed here in our trailer tent with our three children and our friends with their tent and four children.

On arrival to the site we were warmly greeted by Karen who let us take our pick of pitches(as the site was empty )we pitched directly across from the newly built toilet block (although still under construction this was very clean and well maintained at all times with a spacious washing up area in the foyer)

The children played on the vast fields staying away from the fishing lake which we fished most evenings with the children under supervision.

Paul came and introduced himself when he arrived home from work and was very friendly and helpful about local information and places to visit.

There is a beautiful family friendly pub as you turn right out of the campsite about 3 miles away, with both indoor and outdoor play areas to keep children of all ages amused. There is a Londis shop 2 mins down the road with all the basics or a Co-Op in Perrenporth 5 mins drive away.

Also you can buy fresh duck and hen eggs from Paul and Karen from their own flock of hens and ducks.

The nearest beach is Perranporth, which is a five minute car journey away.

The only downer we had was the constant rain made the field a quagmire and we started to struggle to drive on it, but we would imagine that this would be the case wherever we had stayed owing to the very unseasonal high rainfall, and Paul was more than happy for us to leave our cars in a hardstanding area near the entrance to the site.

We thoroughly enjoyed our two week stay here, and at £12 a night for a pitch with electric hook-up it certainly is great value for money, so much so that we have already booked to come back next year! To sum up our stay here, this is a lovely site with the added benefit of having a nicely stocked little fishing lake, the owners were very friendly and helpful, and it had lovely views of the rolling Cornish hills. The information packs that were provided full of leaflets of places of local interest for us to take away was a great touch as it saved us having to find the local tourist information office and we could start planning our days out straight away.
