Lovely site the area is really beautiful and this site is well located a good walk into Coulon or a short cycle ride - the area is really worth visiting with so much to do around Coulon with several cycle paths along the canals you won't be bored!
The owner of the site was really helpful as we had a flat leisure battery and she phoned a local dealer and saved us one and then even offered to loan us her car to go and collect it she was so helpful.
The site is very clean lovely pool area well laid out pitches and a very good atmosphere with a small market of local produce and bread available daily. I would recommend this site to anyone and the area and having been twice would stay again on our way south

Arrived early afternoon the lady on reception duty did not want to converse, just pointed in the general direction of the pitches and left us to it, she went back to her cigarette and magazine!
Site pleasant enough although we didn't have any site information. Facilities ok and water warm, although no plugs for the dish washing sinks. Poor dog walking site unless you use the 'rat run' lanes adjacent to the site.
Pool area was just being refurbished and you could order bread from reception, but not via the afternoon lady.
Stayed one night. The lady on reception in the morning was dismayed that we had not been booked in the previous day and at how we had been treated.
Would not use the site again as there are better sites near by.

This is one of our favourite sites in France. We have visited here at least six times over the past 4-5 years, always in low season using the ACSI card. Madame Robin, the owner is always friendly, welcoming and helpful. The facilities are always spotless. The grounds are well kept and there are many colourful displays of flower borders. There has been much tree planting in recent years which affords plenty of shaded emplacements. As satellite TV watchers this additional shade means that there are now less emplacements that can be used. The Green Venice is such a pretty are and a joy for cycling and walking. Cycles are available for hire at the site and in Coulon boats can be hired.
Coulon, 1. 5 miles from the site, is a very attractive small town/village, it does have several restaurants, a small mini-market, pharmacy and a boulangerie. The nearest supermarket, a fairly new Super you at Magne, is 3 miles away. As a mature caravanner this site and area provides us with everything that we like about caravanning, quietness, peace and restful surroundings.
I have not made reference to the suitability of the site for families because fashion and attitudes will be different now to when we travelled with children. My guess would be that teenage children would become bored fairly quickly

This is a well organised site laid out in typical continental style with rows of emplacements either side of gravel tracks in neat rows. Some emplacements are bigger than others (you pay more) but we had a normal one which was plenty big enough for our tunnel tent, awning, car, cooker stand and 4-seater picnic table. And some emplacements have more shade than others. When we were there it was 38 degrees so were grateful we'd somehow landed loads of shade.
Generally quiet (one night there were some loud French lads but they were told to shut-up at 11:30pm). Normally it was very quiet by 10:30pm and stayed quiet until 8am. Almost half the site is made up of chalets in different parts of the site. The canoes had been pinched when we were there and the (apparently lone) owner seemed a little jaded and tired at times - sometimes giving the impression of not wanting to help.
On our last night there was a nosy cat which tried to impose itself on us. We aren't cat lovers so encouraged it to go away, but later in the night it came back and jumped on the tent making a little hole. Having not seen the cat previously we hope this was atypical.
The swimming pool and paddling pool were great, facilities excellent in all respects. Once a week there was a kind of barn dance thing which was full of French people (presumably the Brits and few Dutch didn't want to join in) - but it was very nice. No shop but you can order bakery (bread, croissants etc) for the following morning. All emplacements have electric which you have to pay for even if you don't use it.
Coulon is a delight. The Marais Poitevin (green venice) is very peaceful, very extensive and very flat. The site is about 2 miles outside Coulon so no shops are easily accessible from the site. There is a very nice Boulanger behind the church in Coulon, and the cafe in the square is decent value and quality. There is a cash machine in Coulon but nearest supermarche is in Benet (7km from site). The site does not freeze blocks des glace (Ice Packs). It is a good hour's drive to La Rochelle which is worth at least a day visit. Beaches with waves on the southwest side of the Isles if you want that. Puy du Fou is a long trek (90 mins at least) but excellent if you have kids from 4 to 16 years old - buy tickets online in advance for a 15% saving and best to use the translation headphones for the main 5 shows.
Overall we were pleased with the site except for the damned cat. A lot cheaper than coastal sites but too far if you want to spend several days at the beach.

Friendly reception and plenty of choice where to pitch. No problem with size of spaces, all with electricity.
The showers were hot and roomy as was the water for washing up. Toilets kept very clean.
Bread could be ordered every night at reception for next morning and the restaurant was open despite the early season.
2 wifi zones but we were able to connect in our motorhome. Cycle and canoeing maps available from the site and we were able to launch canoes across the road from the entrance.
Green venice was a delight, despite the rain, teeming with wildlife and not too busy with other boats.
Cycling paths were also accessible and gave you a good look at the local, unique countryside.

This campsite's name translates as 'green Venice' and that's a good description of the area around the site. The countryside is flat and covered with lush vegetation and a vast network of waterways with accompanying footpaths and cycleways.
The site is conveniently located on a decent road opposite a very nice waterway. The site has a shop bar/restaurant and outdoor pool.
Pitches are a decent size, grassy and fairly flat. Toilets/showers are modern, clean and in very good order.
When we used this site as an overnighter en-route to Royan we knew nothing about this area and were very pleasantly surprised.
This place must be heaven for walkers, nature watchers and cyclists. It's pretty good for others too as there are plenty of lovely hamlets and villages to visit.
