 This is a nice CS in what feels like a remote area, but in fact is only a few miles from civilisation. To find from the north, would suggest turning right off the A6 at Cromford, sp Wirkswoth, then to avoid going through Wirksworth (and the worst of the hills), after about a mile take the left fork onto Oakerthorpe Road.
Cross the main road by the pub with care, then take the road sp Alderwasley and the Bear pub. The site is on this road, a couple of miles on the left.
It's level but a bit exposed. Has 2 loos and washbasins in separate rooms and a large rally field. Cost is £10 including EHU which is fine.
The nearest shop and garage is at Ambergate, left and left again from the site. Wirksworth only has basic food shops but several antique shops.
Belper has a Co-op and several charity shops, cheap places to eat. The Bear pub just up the road is renowned for its food, but we didn't try it, too expensive for us.
There is also an eating pub on the A6 at Crich Carr, right from the site. The nearest supermarket is Sainsbury's at Matlock, next to the Riverside Station.
The site is in a good location for the south Peak District, and has lovely walks in the woods directly through a green door at the back of the rally field.
