We visited this campsite in september in a dry spell so cant comment on previous reviews about problems with access when wet weather.
I thought this is a lovely cs site so near for access on to the moors especially Haytor, Widecombe and a host of other lovely places on Dartmoor.
The pitches are very generous with the electric ones all being next to the fence, the outdoor shower was lovely and the compost toilet very different.
We were also very pleased to find two small supermarkets in Bovey Tracey less than a mile away and cash points with free parking outside for an hour.
The free fire pits were excellent and the wood provided for £4 very generous.
We also liked the fact that access to the campsite was via a locked 5 bar gate and that units weren't visible from the road making us feel very secure.
We will definitely revisit.

We have just returned from a peaceful stay, the loo was fine, but could not find the flush! the out door shower was interesting in a good way and not at all chilly. The campsite was not busy and we ended up being the only tent there for a few nights.
The entrance was boggy due to the amount of rain which had fallen, but it was not a problem for us, but was for a camper van which got stuck. Before pitching look at the site as parts are more prone to being softer than other parts, we had no problems with the soft ground as we inspected the filed before pitching.
The open fire is a must each evening. A site we will revisit in the future.

We visited on Bank Holiday in early May. Really nice, quiet site with only 2-3 other pitches at any point. Great to have the fire which could be located next to the tent. Kids and dog loved it. We can't recommend this site highly enough and hope to return. It should be noted though that the facilities are what they are - functional and clean. For those expecting tarmac, marked pitches etc, this may not be for you. For those looking for a beautiful pitch with basic facilities close to Dartmoor, this is ideal.
Finally, the previous reviewer (Dgw1963) gets the Nostradamus Prize for prescience - we needed to push another camper's vehicle out of the mud as they returned to their pitch at dusk - this took all seven of us on the campsite. No fault of theirs - the northern perimeter of the site is clearly boggier but this is not obvious from casual inspection. Just be aware not to pitch too close to the northern perimeter without careful inspection. Please don't be put off by this caveat - this is a great site for those who are looking for a peaceful and beautiful part of the word to pitch in.

A fantastic site for many reasons. Our two children loved the woods and the fire pits. Also Bovey Tracey outdoor swimming pool 5 minutes away was great. The composting toilet (not smelly at all when we were there) was fine and the outdoor shower was an experience that everyone should encounter, simply magical on a fine August morning. Very short drive to the town but you felt a million miles away. Short drive onto Dartmoor with many great places to visit. We tend to steer clear of the tourist hot spots, but pond dipping at Haytor quarry was a big hit with the children.
The fire pits were used by most people whilst we were there, we cooked two nights and ate at Parke (NT) cafe which is open Thursday, Friday and Saturday in the summer.
A farm shop two minutes away (towards the moor)stocks good local meat and veg as well as good cakes milk and bread etc.
Some hook ups, but really on this site you should all be as basic as you can make it, it adds to the fun. Pitches are level. In wet weather I imagine the side near the woods could get quite damp, so careful pitching in could be needed in the spring and autumn.
Visited late August/early September to miss the busy period.
Not a lot more you need really. One of the best sites we have been to in 20+ years of camping and caravanning.
We had a lovely time and hope to return again as soon as we can.
Given this 10/10 for everything as that was our experience. I hope the 5 unit restriction is never exceeded as if it gets too busy I would imagine a lot of the magic will get lost.
