Stayed for eight nights on this site over the bank holiday weekend and midterm.

The owners could not do enough for us and made our camp one of the best we have had.

Some noisy revellers over the weekend were dealt with very amenably and successfully by the farmer.

This site is in the most wonderful setting; a gentle stroll into Aberdaron for 2 pubs with food and cafes. A slightly more energetic walk up Anelog and the most wonderful views of the peninsula, and, if you are lucky, Anglesey and Ireland! I am already planning another visit to walk the Lleyn peninsula path a bit more!

One day we walked towards the end on the peninsula and found two cafes; one selling wonderful welsh breakfasts. And both were campsites.

If you are towing to this area, you need to study the maps well. There are some awesome hills! I don't like steep hills when towing my Fiesta and would next time avoid travelling through Nefyn when towing as the roads at Llanlahearn (sp?) are challenging. Also the routes though Rhiw are very steep. Travel through Pwllheli and you can't go wrong!

They could probably do with another toilet (hence 9 out of 10 for facilities) but we had our own facilities so this didn't bother us too much!

We will be back.

Lovely site consisting of a reasonably level grass field with ten plots all with electric hook up. Easy to find and no problems with the access to site despite being in a [hired] larger motorhome.

The toilet/shower block is one of each currently but is a very clean and neat swiss [I think] designed and manufactured unit - heater comes on in both when the light is switched on and loads of hot water in the shower. Also has chemical waste disposal and bins.

The site only opened last year so is also good for availability at the moment - I'm sure it will get busier. The owner is friendly and approachable and helps run the working beef farm on which the site is located. It is a beautiful walk down to bay at Porth Meudwy from where the boats leave from Bardsey Island - or you can walk along the cliffs into Aberdaron itself. Just behind the site is Mynydd Anelog which after a fifteen minute uphill walk gives views from Ireland to South Stack on Anglesey to Bardsey Island and the whole of the peninsular.

There is a quicker route back from the village along minor roads but the cliff top walk has lots of wildlife [Chough being seen regularly] and lovely views across the bay. The village itself has all you need - shop, ice cream, pubs and cafes but the chip shop and the craft bakery stand out.

Only other thing I'd add is generally the area is quite hilly so I wished I'd taken the kayak instead of the bikes.

Date of Visit: August 2012 Unit:  Tent

We stayed here for 5 nights over the August bank holiday. We arrived on the Wednesday and had the pick of the field. It is a nice, clean field. It does have a very slight incline but nothing major.

It has one toilet and one shower cubicle located at the bottom end of the field which were brand new and very clean. The owner cleaned the toilets at very regular intervals (10. 30pm being the latest). He was very nice and approachable, my wife suggested that he might put an tin of air freshener in the toilet, just in case, and he did.

We have got a large 7 man tent which was only £16 per night with elec which for the location was a bargain. Yes, there's not much to do but Aberdaron itself is a beautiful village and well worth a walk into, which takes about 15-20 mins. I would recommend the fish and chip shop, especially the lobster tails. All in all we had a lovely break, even though the weather wasn't good on the Friday.

As I said the location is beautiful, the view over Snowdon is breathtaking. The roads coming up to the site are quite small but our friends came with a BMW X5 and large caravan and didn't really have any problems. If your looking for a peaceful site to chill out then you can't go far wrong with Bwlchgwyn.

Also if you look at the photos on the page we are the Green tent towards the bottom end of the field. The only minor 'gripe' I might say is that one toilet and shower my not be enough if the site is full, hence the 6 out of 10 rating but 10 out of 10 for cleanliness, but looking at the boiler in the toilet I don't think there would be a problem adding more facilities if needed.
