Such a shame about this site. I used to enjoy coming to this site each year but not any more as the facilities have gone downhill over the past three years as many more pitches have been added than the site can cope with. Old, dirty, dingy showers with low wattage bulbs. Only three showers and two separate toilets for 35 + pitches some of the tents holding large families. You can imagine the numbers waiting to use the toilets and showers in the morning. Take a toilet roll.
What used to be pleasant gardens on entry to the site have been turned into further pitches with a resident family in a teepee for 2014 who thought it was ok for their dogs to roam free (because they were friends of the owners they said) with obvious consequences. If you take dogs with you, the only walk off site is along a B road with no pavement.
On the plus side the water to the showers is always hot at any time of day, there is now a cafe on site preparing hot meals and there is space in the middle of both fields for children to play. Liz the owner is a very approachable person. This site is ok for those that don't mind chaos. Not for me any more.
Kynance cove is about 5 minutes drive. The Lizard and surrounding area is unspoilt and the walk from there to Kynance cove is a delight. There is an excellent cafe at Kynance. A must visit is the harbour at Porthleven where you can also savour the delicious Horse & Jockey cornish pasties!

We booked the site blind and paid in full in advance.
First impressions were not too bad. We were shown our pitch and left to get on.
We noticed a lot of overgrowth and upon closer inspection the site was to be fair scruffy. The toilets were ok but the showers were dark and dirty. The washing up room had one tap for two sinks ? The washing machine in in the information room along with a fridge and freezer. There was a pool of water under it all week and it looked filthy. No dryer despite the website saying there was.
One of the biggest problems is dog mess there was a lot of it around the site and some came from the site owners dogs.
As the week went on the facilities became dirtier and one of the showers stopped draining and overflowed.
I wanted this to be a good site but sadly it is NOT. It could be but we thought the owners could not be bothered.
Plus is its close to Lizard and quiet at night.

This is our 3rd visit here and it is even better than ever!
There is a great cafe on site. We took loads of food with us but ended up having our meals in the cafe as it is well priced and very good quality. You can walk to all the main coves from here. Even with 3 visits to the Lizard there is still stacks to see.
The shower and toilet block were spotless. The owners are very helpful and friendly.
The site was solid underfoot even though there was a lot of rain so great drainage and no hassles in the motor-home to get to the pitch.
I just cannot fault this site and will (and have!) recommend it to my friends and cannot wait to head back to the Lizard in the future.

We have just returned from a week at Trethvas. It was very enjoyable and we would highly recommend to others. The owners were very friendly and came to greet us on arrival despite the pouring rain (April in the UK)
The shower and toilet block was very clean at all times and regularly checked.
They are close to the pitches so no need for long walk in the rain like at some sites.
There is a cafe on site that serves breakfast lunch and evening meals so if you choose this can leave you free from cooking any meals for yourself.
It was all of a high standard and reasonable priced.
Highly recommend the cream teas!
The site has many established bird feeders so if you are into a spot of bird watching ideal but even if this isn't for you it was still a joy to watch.

A great little site. Very informal, just how we like it! Run by a lovely, friendly couple Liz and Mike. Ideally located for both coasts on this peninsula and only a couple of miles to the magnificent Lizard Point.
The site is set in two large fields, so plenty of room for everyone. The facilities are in fact private bathrooms with WC, free shower and wash basin all in private rooms, very civilised! Washing up room with unlimited hot water. All in all a real find to anyone who likes camping without all the rules and regulations you can find in some sites. In fact one of the very few signs about the place sums up the site perfectly, it says simply 'Be nice or go home', the only rule required really.
We will return for sure! Thanks Liz and Mike.

We came down for two nights with the kids, as a trial run for the area as we had never been to Cornwall camping before but the site looked ideal for us. We had hoped for a fire and assumed that there would be firepits, as we have had at other sites. There aren't any there, but they are happy for you to use a portable fire pit or BBQ, they simply ask that you don't scorch the grass. We managed to sort a fire in a little BBQ we brought and stabilised it with stones on site, so that was fine.
The site is very clean and well sign posted with marked pitches around the edges of the two fields, so there is a lovely amount of space in the middle for ball games or kids /dogs to run about. There is a main road which goes past one of the fields, but the sound of traffic was not intrusive, even on a Saturday night! The two toilets are very clean and well maintained, as are the two showers (which also have toilets). There's also a nice little washing up area though no hot water there. There is a room with laundry facilities and local tourist info, which was really helpful. You can have ice blocks frozen overnight too for a very small fee, which I thought was a great idea.
We weren't there long, having arrived late due to heavy traffic and leaving early on Monday morning but we did get down to Kynance Cove which, though small and very busy, was actually beautiful and not overcrowded. We didn't get to try the cafe there but it looked very busy so is obviously popular. Having gone the wrong way from the car park (not paying attention, oops!) we also had a good view of the coast and coastal path, all stunning!
Overall we had a great time, the kids made lots of friends and we felt very relaxed and at home. The owners are really friendly and happy to help you. We paid £20 per night, so it looks like prices have increased since reviews last year and it is high season, but wouldn't want to pay more than that for facilities. A great place for proper happy family camping.

This is a quiet, friendly campsite situated in a perfect location for visiting the Lizard sights by foot. The toilets and showers were very clean and pitches have plenty of room. The views across the Lizard from the campsite are beautiful.
This is our second visit to this site and we would (and have!) recommend this to anybody who wants a trouble free break away in a stunning location. Will we go back a 3rd time? You bet we will :)
I really cannot find anything negative at all to say about the site, it ticked all our boxes but take a raincoat as the Lizard can be very changeable as we found out on our 1st visit.

Stayed for 3 nights at the end of the half-term break. Made to feel very welcome by the friendly new owners. £15 per night for two of us incl hookup. Site was very quiet - only a couple in a caravan, replaced later by family in a tent. Toilets and showers really clean. Washing up area currently outside and sparse but a shelter being built. Overall the facilities were fine. In fact ideal for us - a hookup, decent shower and plenty of room! No OTT lighting, signage, etc.
Nearby Cadgwith (mile and a half?) is a fab fishing village and cove. A great pub with singing fishermen of a Friday evening! Brilliant walks around the coast. Stunning cliffs, beaches etc all very near by. Lizard village is a bit naff (and bleak at least this time of year) but lighthouse visitor centre was interesting. Handy (but not on time!) bus service dropped us at the site from one walk when the weather got to us! Normal shopping not far away at Helston. I'm sure the area is very busy in the summer - worth visiting out of season to avoid the crowds.
Best wishes to the owners - thanks for helping to push the van off the soggy field - it had rained on and off for weeks but the bright interludes gave us 15 rainbows! They're developing a couple of small holiday lets which could be good too. Thoroughly recommend this simple, clean, well placed, friendly site and would definitely return.

Stayed for short 1 night stop off. Was told prior to arrival to pitch up if no one there which we did.
Site easy to find a short distance on the main road into the Lizard village. Site is small & very flat spread over across 2 fields. Both back onto roads but road noise was not intrusive. All pitches are grass and look quite large, there are only a few hook ups.
Site was fairly quiet when we arrived with only a couple other motorhomes & 2 tents.
The owner came and chatted once she was home, we received a very warm welcome, she is very laid back and pleasant. Having only owned the site for a few short weeks my review will give her the benefit of the doubt as I would imagine they will have many plans in the pipeline for the future.
Site so far at the moment (for us) was nothing more than a certified location (CL/CS) but we were charged £18. 50 a night - which I thought was steep considering the facilities on offer (EHU & bathroom) compared to sites we had just had just visited we thought that £12-15 was about the price we should have paid.
The on site bathroom was spacious with shower, toilet and basin in one room. Was clean but painted in dark colours wasn't very inviting - a nice clean fresh white coat would work wonders. Campers continuously left the door open at night with the light on therefore inviting many moths/bugs etc also into the room. Outside the shower and the path to the shower needs much better lighting (nearly fell down step) at night.
Dog walk - we were advised to use the field next door which is in effect another camping field, and didn't feel comfortable using this whilst other tenters were in there camped. Also campers next door to us allowed their dogs to run off lead around people's pitches, we prefer all dogs to be tethered or on leads on site so that everyone knows where they stand and makes for a more relaxing stay.
To sum up ~ an up and coming site that am sure will only improve with time. Well situated to explore the Lizard peninsula with friendly owners. Would suit those who like no frills camping with a laid back atmosphere.
