There is only one way to describe our experience at Poolview - totally surreal! Firstly, the sat nav takes you up a track to a farm yard on the wrong side of the hill. The farmer tells us this happens at least a couple of times a week. How have the owners not yet sorted this out?
Secondly, the power lines. We were shown to a pitch at the top of the site (next to loo disposal, LUSH). The pitch was slap bang between two huge pylons, the power lines were buzzing away above us. And then we had a powercut! You couldn't make it up. So we're sat there and we can't put a film on because there's no working EHU, we can only sit in the dark and listen to the hum of the power all around us. Hilarious.
I picked this place because it has a pool on site (hence the name), and I like getting in pools. We didn't even get to the pool, it should be renamed Pylonview.
Handy for Ironbridge. Bit of a trek back up the hill from toilet and shower block, but toilets were free and hot. Washing up areas are inside the ladies/ gents so you can't go and do the dishes together :(. £18 for EHU, plus dog.

We were looking for a campsite in this area because we were attending a family reunion. After looking at several in the area we chose Pool View. Our decision was based on Cost, Location and Facilities. The cost was the cheapest in the area, the location was just about perfect and the facilities would do. (We are not 'fair weather campers'), and Glamping isn't in my vocabulary. The Warden and his wife were extremely helpful with any of our technical hiccups; lack of tent pegs being the main one! The views around were brilliant, ok I agree the power station is a bit of an eyesore but, if you look at it from a photographic view, it isn't there. There is abundant wildlife ranging from Canadian Geese to Red Deer.
The toilet block was perfectly adequate, with enough of everything.
The only downside of this site is that if it rains heavily for a couple of days, there is a possibility of floating away - tent and all! Other than that it's a great site.
We shall be returning and also we told everyone at the reunion of it.

We picked this site for its close proximity to the attractions of Ironbridge, which are a 5min drive away. The current owners have only been there for 15 months and in that time have done some upgrades, with much more work to do. It is a peaceful, friendly site and is often visited by the local wildlife. There are some nice walks close by also.
As mentioned in other reviews, the site is directly behind the power station with overhead cables crossing the site. This was a little disconcerting in a thunderstorm but otherwise it was not a problem.
The toilet/shower block needs updating, which is high on the owners priority list, but is perfectly adequate.
All in all the site is well worth the cost as we have stayed on many others of much higher cost which are not as good.

Stayed for one night, motorhome and 2 small dogs.
First the positives: the walks from the site were very good, with marked paths leading to the Shropshire Way and we found a very nice walk to the local National Trust property through the woods and across fields.
The TV ariel reception was very good and we picked up quite a few channels.
The local pub (which was in fact the bowling club) was ¾ mile down the road (no street lights) but had a very pleasant garden in the grounds of the abbey (nice when the weather was good) apparently the food was good (see not so positives)
The owners were helpful.
Not so positives:
Firstly, why no directions to the site on the website? The owner said a fair few people (coming from the South) ended up on a farmtrack instead of the site. Wouldn’t take much to rectify.
The site seemed to be in the middle of lots of building work, so it looked a bit desolate, with unfinished static caravan pitches and roads. The lovely view of the power station didn’t help, although views in other directions were quite pleasant. Trees obscured a lot though.
The toilet block- oh dear – clean but 2 steps down so no good for wheelchair users or those unsteady on their feet and the slabs on the mens steps were loose. Hardly any hooks for towels etc and the mirror in the mens room was fine if you were 4 foot high. Only ladies can do the washing up and there was no drainer.
The owners showed us the menu for the pub/club and gave us the opening hours Sunday lunchtime and 6. 30pm-8 pm on the evening. Unfortunately they neglected to mention NOT Sunday evenings – so we had to eat emergency rations. (the club told us they had informed the site of this?)
Pretty awfulls:
The touring area is placed at the top bit of the site (site is quite slopey) but directly underneath and very close to very high voltage power lines carrying maximum volts being so near the power station. You could hear them fizzing, I was extremely uncomfortable to be so close to them (we were directly underneath) and whether it was a coincidence? but both myself and my husband went home with headaches. I am glad neither of us had pacemakers or defibrillators!
The cost- £19 for off peak, Sunday night what I would expect to pay for a site with pretty good facilities. I am sorry to say that we were glad to drive away the following morning and no way will be returning, What a shame as the area around Ironbridge is really nice.

We wanted to spend a long weekend exploring Ironbridge and this site seemed to be the closest location. After our lovely Sat Nov decided to take us via the narrow lanes of Shropshire we finally arrived and were a bit stunned at the proximity of Ironbridge power station, however, we were determined not to let this put us off. We found the site wardens to be very welcoming and helpful. The site has loads of potential however, the access road has several steep inclines and the stepped nature of the site may not suit certain people who want everything without any effort. Facilities are basic but functional and clean. We noticed there is no equivalent of a Vegetable Preparation area to do washing up. As we were in a motorhome we were fine but I did wonder how the families in tents were faring. We cycled into Ironbridge the next day and it took about ten minutes or so. We were both of the opinion that the site's position close to a bustling tourist area is its (current) strong point. We didn't use the footpath through the woods but felt it would likely be quite a walk as the power station site is very large with four huge and rather magnificent cooling towers. Apart from the museums Ironbridge has lots of pubs all serving food and it has loads of character. We would recommend Poolview as a good base for exploring the area. It will be interesting to return in a few years time to see how this site develops.

All of the other reviews are correct. The toilet block is in need of updating but according to the excellent wardens if the owner does everything he promises the site will be much improved by next year. The people who own the properties on the site seem to be the stumbling block and are reluctant to change. The site is very well placed for visits to Ironbridge and Much Wenlock. Also the walk through the woods to Broseley is worth the effort

Myself and my wife stayed here for 3 days in mid July and really enjoyed our stay. The warden and his wife were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble.
The touring part of this site is new with work in progress, but very peaceful with stunning views of the countryside. All kinds of wild animals frequent the site and the pool will be magnificent when finished.
The toilets are basic but kept very clean and tidy.
There is so much to see and do, from Much Wenlock to Ironbridge, with Buildwas Abbey in between, we were out exploring all the time.
The site is easy to get to, the approach road is well maintained and quite wide enough. Google Earth gives an impression of a narrow track, this is not the case at all.
There is not much for children at the moment.
We would definitely go back.

The campsite was very clean, with beautifully manicured grass, the wardens were delightful.
The toilet block was basic, but clean, I can only comment on the female ones, washing-upfacilities were in the ladies! a couple of the locks on the cubicles were missing, small details but niggly.
Downside was, we camped between the foundations for log cabins, which for me didn't contribute to my camping experience, and secondly the site is adjascent to a soon to be defunct power station with buzzing overhead cables.
Having said that, we enjoyed our stay, loved Ironbridge and the Museums were stunning,

All I can say is what a great site, pitches, fishing, wardens and wildlife are brilliant
The site has recently had new wardens who are making a real difference and are set on making it the best site in the uk
Poolview is very quiet and clean, local wildlife seen there include deer which I was amazed to seen roaming the woods, the site has its own fishing lake.
Poolview is a real great, relaxing get away

My husband, toddler, dog and I have just returned from a long weekend at Poolview Park and what a lovely weekend it was. We booked very last minute and were accommodated no problem. Prices are very reasonable. Access to the site is easy from the Much Wenlock Road and is signposted but be careful if using your sat nav as ours was telling us to take the turning before the site. Upon arrival we were offered our choice of pitch and the Warden made sure we were set up ok with no issues.
The site is part park homes and part touring. Both grass and hard standing pitches are available and whilst the site slopes very slightly, it's nothing a levelling block doesn't easily fix. We had an electric pitch and had no problems at all.
The shower block was basic but offers separate ladies / gents facilities and has individual cubicles. We found them to be spotlessly clean. The wardens on this site are absolutely amazing and are a real credit to the site. They are friendly, helpful, really lovely people and nothing is a problem for them. They work non stop to make sure the site is a great place for everyone to enjoy. They have loads of useful information about the area too. They are currently carrying out improvements to the site and we can't wait to go back again to see how it develops further over time. Everyone we met on site was friendly and happy to have a chat. We enjoyed this as its so nice to be nice ! Unlike some of the larger sites where people don't even acknowledge you.
The views from the site across the open countryside are wonderful and wildlife is in abundance. We saw several deer, rabbits and pheasants and there is a large duck pond with loads of ducks to feed. We were also told that hawks, woodpeckers and badgers can often be seen too.
There are several sign posted walks through the woods at the back of the site if you enjoy getting out and about on foot. Buildwas Abbey is only 100 yards away from the site entrance. The site is perfectly located for exploring the local area and is literally five minutes drive from Ironbridge Gorge. The park and ride facility is only five minutes away and is free on weekends and bank holidays. We used this with our toddler in his pushchair and found it so easy and a lot quicker than driving round and round for a parking space.
There is lots to see and do in Ironbridge, it has something for everyone and provides a great insight into our industrial heritage. There is even a great play park for little ones which my little boy loved. You can easily spend a few days here alone if you want to see everything. There is a great museum nearby called Blists Hill where everything is set up as it would have been hundreds of years ago - it's a real step back in time. We ate in Ironbridge at the Malthouse Inn and would recommend it and also visited the Chip shop which was lovely.
Much Wenlock is only a few miles away and is a lovely little town, steeped in history, with a good selection of shops / bank / post office / spar and garage. It also has an abbey which you can visit. Telford and Shrewsbury are a short drive away too although we didn't have time to fit anything else in.
We will definitely be back to this site again.
