I booked this site as it looked great in the brochure. Great to keep the kids entertained. My parents who are in their mid 60's came with us. After reading the previous reviews on here about the site being on a hillI called them and specifically asked for a pitch near to the facilities which they did (pitch 146) So far great!

When we arrived (trailer in tow) there was no where to park to check in. Spaces provided were full and the woolacombe bus was there which caused a but of congestion and as you know it's not easy to pull in anywhere or reverse etc with a trailer.

I really didn't anticipate how far the camping part was away from the pool/shop etc and on how much of a incline. Our pitch was close to the toilets but it did mean going down a steep hill to the toilet block and then back up again. My parents struggled with this.

Pitch itself was a great size with hedges which was big enough for our folding pennine camper.

The toilet facilities where good. So many toilet cubicles so no cross legged queuing ;) showers were mixed and again there were plenty. Each shower had a small glass cubicle (like you have at home) plus sink and chair, a mop and bucket was also provided which was handy if the person before had muddy feet and failed to clean it afterwards.

The toilet block and laundrette did seem to become a youth hang out place from about 5-7 so avoid like the plague as they were using the laundrette to charge their phones and straitened their hair, my mum found this quite intimidating.

Outdoor pool was warm and the kids liked the slide and again toilet/changing rooms were adequate but pool was a lot smaller than it appears in the brochure. Indoor pool, you needed to obtain a token from reception to go through the turn styles. The pool was dated, small and was dark and in desperate need of a refurb. When the weather was hot the outdoor pool was over crowded and the staff had to operate a one out one in system.

Crazy golf and kiddies play park was great fun. And more importantly free! (£1 deposit required per person for golf) the kiddy karts were £1 for a few minutes. The first one we tried lasted 30seconds and when I told the men that were working near by I was told 'we are on our lunch break so see reception'. The receptionist kindly reimbursed me.

If your children want to do the other activities be prepared to pay!

Shop stocked what was needed but as usual you pay a premium, however there is a Tesco about 5-10 min drive away.

Takeaway food was horrid and over priced. However the food served by the outside pool by the husband and wife team was lovely and reasonably priced.

Site was in my eyes overpriced and the pitches need another toilet block and more lighting as the early morning loo runs where a bit scary! My parents and young children struggled with the walk from the tent to facilities so I wouldn't recommend this site to others in the same boat.

Woolacombe beach was lovely would recommend buying a body/belly board for he waves! Water mouth castle good, but rides really suited to primary school aged children. Dinosaur and wildlife park good but set on a very steep hill so I would say not suited for he less mobile.

We stayed here over Whitsun week. The first 2 days were freezing the final 5 we had some sunshine!

The park, is lovely and friendly. The kids clubs were good and well run and my 3 children all enjoyed them, the evening entertainment was also a bit of fun including bingo. The shop for an on site shop is well stocked and the prices are reasonable but don't get a starter pack for groceries as it is not worth the money £37 for £20 worth of shopping.

The toilets and shower block was mainly clean and tidy, but I didn't like the wires trailing by the toilet doors when they were cleaning. At busy times.

The park, camping and caravan was always clean and tidy.

Now my negatives we were camping in a tent so is just from our perspective.

We had a hook up so were on the top level, there were 3 levels bottom and middle for no hook up and top for hook up, the toilets were on the middle level so we had to walk up and down a hill to go to the toilet as there is only one block. Not good when your desperate at 3 am lol

The pitch was big enough we were just at the top of the hill by the hedge which the road to enter the camp is the other side of. The main downside is that we were under 2 trees, there were sticks all over the pitch so had to pitch the tent over them and at 5 am the birds (crows I think) started crawing and woke me up every day they also poo'ed all over the tent. We also had no sun on the tent as the trees were n the way.

We enjoyed our stay but won't stay again and are trying golden coast on a super pitch instead next year.

We have just returned from a 5 day stay here. The weather was fairly awful for most of the time which may have prejudiced my view but I would not return to this site again.

The website emphasises the fact that the site is set on a hillside. What it does not say is that the site is exposed and the wind blows off the sea and syphons up the valley. I was generally concerned that the tent would blow away, even though the tent is a big and sturdy one. Also, there is no flat open space for kids to play, every bit of ground is used for pitches.

The camping field is a five minute walk from the rather dated facilities. The toilet block was large and well set out but most of the cubicles in the gents were damaged or out of order and it was pot luck whether the shower was scalding or freezing.

We used the indoor pool which was, as I said above, dated and, due to the weather, over crowded. It seems as though no thought was taken to restrict numbers.

I had chosen this site due to the ability to walk to the beach. The beach is nice, as is Woolacombe itself, however, the walk back to the site is excessively steep and we chose to drive the second time we went.

The other reviews say that the other adjoining sites are better and if you are keen on the area then I believe that the Golden Coast site would be the one to choose.

If you have younger kids, then a trip to The Big Sheep at Bideford is well worth it.

We stayed 11 nights in August. The site is fairly difficult to access, (well it was for me as my sat nav took me up a single lane road with a sharp right turn into the site). Once you arrive though, and pull up and reception the views across the bay are very impressive. Check in was a bit of a rigour when towing as you had to find a parking space in the main reception area, the bus is going around and many other pedestrians and vehicles. It would be much better served with a separate area for tourers to check in.

The touring field is toward the back of the park about 5 – 10 mins walk from the main entertainment. The field is steep but pitches are well terraced. On arrival I was disappointed with my pitch as it was very small, the hook-up point was more than 25 meters away and across the road and the pitch was about 3 foot higher left to right, certainly not what I would call a suitable pitch. Again a dedicated reception would have helped here, so I did not have to go all the way back to the main area to discuss this with a member of staff. I did get moved onto a flatter pitch, but only I think because the weather was bad and the site was not full. I booked in January for an August stay so was not happy to find my original pitch and I would have left the site had I not been able to move.

The facilities and views on the touring field are also great. There is a main shower block with separate unisex shower cubicles so it is always possible to find a shower. They are push button showers with no mixer taps but I always found temperatures were good. The area was kept clean. There is also a dish wash area and laundry room.

It could have done with a small play park nearby. It was quite stressful with a just walking toddler because of the layout of the site. ie it is just roads and pitches with no open space for the kids to play in.

Of course the entertainment was very good and the main complex was clean although a bit dated. You needed tokens to use the pool which was odd as there is nothing else about so I don’t know who they were trying to stop getting into it other than their customers. Small shop in main complex was also quite good.

All in all a good holiday apart from the weather. I would return to the area but probably not to this site. The main reason is I seem to always get the impression on sites where statics and tourers are mixed. That the tourers are treated as second rate, and here was not an exception, it’s not too much of an issue it is just that you can tell that statics are their main income and the campers seem to be a bit of an afterthought. However they have a site round the corner called Twicthen house that is for tourers only so I will try this next time.

We booked this site a long time earlier and were really looking forward to going. Unfortunately there was a severe weather warning in Devon when we were on route from the Midlands (we'd broken our journey from Scotland with a couple of nights elsewhere). We decided to keep going and I'm glad we did. When we arrived the severe rain had stopped and we got issued with our wristbands and our pitch. The pitch was not the best - infact its probably one of the worst we've ever pitched on as it was part flat and part hill. It was also a bit soggy, but I cant fault the site for that as the weather of late had been really wet. We got the tent pitched and with a large tent like ours, it was a bit of a squeeze. The EHU post was 2 pitches away from our pitch and by sheer luck our cable was long enough, but I could see it causing problems for others. I found out later in the week however that the site will hire/lend EHU extensions if needed. The facilities for campers I cannot fault. A nice big modern shower block with a sauna and steam room in tow - all free. The dishwashing room and the laundrette are in the same building. The facilities were also always spotless no matter what time of day we visited. Shower rooms were fantastic and had a sink and chair in each too (as well as a mop and bucket to clean up the floor when finished). The main entertainment complex is about a 5 minute walk from the camping area and its quite hilly around the whole site, something to consider if you arent great on your feet. Entertainment was excellent and the cabaret acts were of a very high standard. The pools and the other facilities were all great and all included in the price of the holiday. The staff were very friendly and polite at all times. One criticism is the bar prices. Some of the prices were shocking. I bought a small cup of peanuts and a pint of cider and it was nearly £7. A fruit shoot for my daughter was £1. 95. I spent the week not drinking alcohol and we took in fruit shoots for my daughter. There is plenty to do around the site and getting use of the sister sites is useful too as we used the pool and a few of the other facilities of the Golden sands site - which seemed a little more modern than our site and with better camping pitches. All was well till the rain on the thursday turned our pitch into a complete mudbath with the water from other pitches flowing down the hill and congregating at the front of our tent. It didn't help that we found a small hole in our groundsheet due to a very small shard of green glass from someone previously staying on the pitch. I did complain to reception and in complete fairness to them they offered to clean out our tent and also gave us a static caravan to stay in for the night. This helped us dry out and we were able to return to our pitch on the saturday morning and take our tent down without any hassles. All in all I would recommend the site but be aware that some of the pitches are not great and it gets very windy too. I saw the end of a few tents in the non EHU field that week. It is a great site and its well run, but the camping site needs serious fixing. A bit of drainage and perhaps better access from the top of the site to the toilet block too. Its a long walk from the furthest away pitch.

Would I go back? In a heartbeat. Despite the weather, booze prices and pitches, we had a fantastic holiday.

We have just had two nights at this site, and short weekend break in an area we know very well.

I'll review the two separately, the camping then the general facilities.

Camping - The pitches in general we quite large, with a few with EHU but most without. They start in the valley below the toilet block and go on up to the level at the top. We were at the top on pitch 56. We had semi sea views (if your taller like me I could see through the trees), but really, I don't think any of the camping pitches can claim to have true sea views).

The pitch itself was slightly sloped, but not too bad. We were separated from the vacant pitch next door by a small hedge, as were most of the pitches at the top, however the lower levels didn't appear to have any separation at all.

It rained quite badly on the first night, and the ground became quite boggy, as you'd expect. Also, with this pitch being next to the path to the toilets, it was quite noisy. There are some pitches which are set back, and we would chose them if we went again (58 and 59 looked nice).

The toilet facilities in the camping area were good, kept clean and plentiful. However there was a tendency for people to mill around there, and my wife found it quite uncomfortable when she visited the toilet one night and there were two men sitting on the floor right outside the ladies toilets.

The site was reasonably quite, and most respected others in the noise sense. However there were a couple of people who insisted on screaming very loudly into the night and also playing some awful European dance music at 7am. I think the park could do more to remind campers a bit more regarding quietening down at night etc.

The camping area, as previously said, is about a 10 minute walk from the main complex.

Facilities - The best thing about this site, is that you have access to all four of their sites.

The facilities at Woolacombe Bay are OK. The swimming pools looked nice (we only used the indoor one) and the outdoor pool has a flume and an outdoor snack bar selling very well priced hot food (£1. 80 for Nuggets and Chips and £3. 00 for fish and chips) although we didn't try any.

The other facilities are OK, but a little unkept. The crazy golf was a bit tatty, with uncut holes and stones on the holes where they had fallen from the surrounding area. Also, the pitch and put is 3 holes and no greens, just some flags sticking out the ground. The play area is nice, and the kids loved the pirate ship. This area has the best views on Woolacombe beach, but does get a little windy.

If you want to use the facilities, I'd recommend making the short journey to Golden Sands. The bus they provide costs £4 per person, per stay, and goes between all four parks and the beach, so worth it if you are staying for a bit longer then we did.

Golden Coast has far better facilities, an 8 lane bowling alley at a very reasonably £10 per hour if you prebook. Also, it has an activity area, with Crazy Golf (not such a good course), climbing wall (£3 a go), high ropes, Wave rider machine (£20, pre booking essential) and a lovely outdoor beach bar type area.

One thing I will mention, is that the drinks in the bars are pretty expensive, £4. 20 for a bottle of Cider, £1. 95 for a fruit shoot, but I guess that's not really any more then a normal put.

Lastly, the staff we always helpful and friendly. The entertainment that we saw was a singer, who wasn't great but tried his best and was enjoyable.

All in all, we'd definitely visit again, there was always something to do, and the kids loved it. It's close enough to walk to the beach if your brave, just beware of the walk back I suppose.

Just remember to guy your tent property, because it gets really windy up there.

Stayed for two weeks at end of may/first week in June. Camping. Nice spacious pitch. No problems with the electric hook up. Could do with a few more drinking water taps. Excellent facilities - always clean and plenty of hot water. Facility block includes launderette, good pot wash room, clean toilets and small individual shower rooms comprising of a shower cubicle, sink, hooks and chair to put things on and plenty of room to change. There is also a sauna and steam room within the block.

As usual entertainment was excellent with my children enjoying the Billy Beachball club enormously both in the morning and at night. The park stars entertainers work really hard and do an excellent job. All other staff are always polite and helpful. Every night there is a full evening of entertainment provided at no extra cost to the price of your stay.

The bus to the other parcs and the beach is excellent value and allowed me to forget the car for the duration of the holiday. On site shop stocks everything you need, although as you would expect is a bit pricier than large supermarkets, however there is a large tesco about ten minutes drive away.

Plenty of activities to do for free - Mini golf, tennis, indoor and outdoor pools and the pay as you go activities at nearby Golden Coast (water walkers, bowling, climbing wall etc) are reasonably priced.

Woolacombe itself offers excellent beach and nice selection of bars, restaurants and shops.

I don't have a negative thing to say about Woolacombe Bay holiday park or Woolacombe.

We had a wonderful time during Easter week at the site in a static van. We went as a group from church booking 26 vans. The site enjoys breathtaking views out to sea and the surrounding countryside. The facilities on site were more than what we expected, the staff were extremely helpful and the bonus was the camp bus that linked all the sites in the group.

All the facilities on the other group camps were available to us. The site was extremely clean & very well maintained. The shop was very well stocked with fresh bread daily. The only drawback for us (as we are a pair of wrinklys) was the site was on a hillside but was well terraced.

I would rate this site at 9/10(for the slope)

GO AGAIN, Definitely. ENJOYMENT, great. FAMILY FRIENDLY, Oh Yessss. Value for money, Yes

We have just returned from a week camping at Woolacombe Bay Holiday Parc, & I felt the need to write a review!

Generally the parc is very good, plenty of facilities; amusement arcade, indoor/outdoor pools, play area, shop etc etc and the 'privilege' of being able to use any of the facilities on any of the 3 sister sites.

But I felt I had to draw to peoples attention, more specifically campers attention, the seeming lack of care for the more immediate facilities that campers need when on holiday.

The mains connection point for our pitch was the far side of the adjoining pitch to us; our 20 metre cable literally just about reached.

There was one toilet/shower block serving nearly 200 hundred pitches. Yes it's a good size block with approx 30 unisex showers & about 20 toilets in the ladies (don't know about the gents!). However the block was only cleaned every other day; the days it wasn't cleaned you'd find no toilet roll, no soap in the dispensers, dirty floors & sinks etc. There was often a male cleaner in attendance at the ladies toilets; yes a sign was up warning people but you didn't really get much privacy if you were already in the toilets.

The showers were inadequate to say the least. If you got a lock on the main door you were lucky, if you got hot water you were even luckier. As with all campsites you have to keep pressing the button to get a flow of water, but one cubicle I entered the water stopped as soon as I let go of the button. They were extremely small; the actual shower cubicle within each shower 'room' was probably only about 2-3 ft square; no offence but anyone on the larger side would struggle. And they are not very child friendly at all!

There was a distinct lack of lighting around the site at night. There was only one light between our pitch & the toilet block & that was at the top of the hill down to the block, about 100 metres or so from our pitch.

The dishwashing area has 6 sinks but only 3 of them have plugs. !??! And you have to keep your hand on the tap for the flow of water, soon as you let go the water stops. And it's very hot, which makes the tap get very hot, and it comes out with such force you get soaked!

My final gripe is the fact that there is no freezer for you to freeze your ice blocks; if you can't afford the luxury/space in your car of an electric cool box you have to hire ice blocks from the shop at a cost of £1 deposit & 25p per block (I think that's what she said, I walked out in disgust when I enquired about a freezer!)

I know a lot of this may seem petty, but to me when you are paying £350 for a weeks camping, in peak season, on a large site that is part of a chain, these are basic facilities that most campers expect & deserve when holidaying.

The rest of the site was excellent (oh, apart from the food in the cafe/restuarant - tasteless!) and Woolacombe and the surrounding areas are beautiful, but I'm afraid these elements have put me off visiting this site again :-/

Just returned from 5 days at this location and had a great time, the site itself is very hilly so if you have any walking difficulties then I suggest this is not the site for you. The shower blocks are spotless with a steam room and sauna, they are about 3-5 mins walk from the furthest pitches. The brochure says stunning sea views, this is not the case, stunning countryside views is what you get. The clubhouse balcony has the sea views. But to be honest the views are nice even if you don't have the sea to look at.

The pitches are average size but if you have an awning or large canopy or gazebo then definitely ask for a super size pitch or you wont fit it in. The walk to the clubhouse and entertainment is about 15 mins depending on which pitch you are on, we were on pitch 127. The entertainment is what you expect, they try hard to make you laugh and try and get you involved. The local shop is overpriced but that is the case with all shops on any site. They have a pool and flume outside which is great for the kids and with the weather we had it felt like we was abroad. The indoor pool is nice as well. Twice a week a fish van comes to the site which is very overpriced, its about a 15 min drive to ilfracombe which has nice shops and seafood at a good price. Woollacombe town and beach is great but like anywhere the further back you go from the seafront the cheaper it gets.

All in all would I go back again, yes I would it is stunning and we had a great time.

I have pointed out more negative views than positive only to make people aware, but it is a great place to holiday and I give a big thumbs up to the team who work there.

Just one more thing if you use a sat nav turn off unmarked roads and unpaved roads or it will send you up hills that ive never seen before, I thought my engine was going to blow up. You can only fit one car down the lanes and if you have a trailer like we did and a car comes the other way your in big trouble.
