August 2005 I found this site on the internet and booked for myself in a tent and my friends in a touring caravan. I was a little worried by the negative reviews I read (after I'd made the booking!) but I needn't have been. We found the site easily and it was lovely. The site was well maintained, and even though it was busy we had no problems with access to the facilities. My one disappointment was the pool. It was very small, and heavily chlorinated, with no adequate supervision - consequently there were hoards of youths running riot. I'm sure it would be much better in quieter periods, and as the beach was so close, and the weather so lovely, it was not a major issue. It's well placed for visiting local attractions - Eden Project, Lost Gardens of Heligan, and Charlestown and Fowey are well worth a visit too. 9/10

August 2005 We had great weather which took the edge off what a poor site this is. As said in other reviews the pool is so small as to be useful as a bath only. The staff at the pool were very friendly and apologised for the state of the facilities, ie dirty and smelly.
The main reason we went for this site was for the beach. The factory is not a problem, but the 6" deep tide of green slime was. I have never been on such a disgusting beach. We left the campsite most days to other local beaches.
They had problems with local people coming into the site causing a nuisance, such as unpluging electrics. To cap it all, one of our bikes was stolen (with bolt cutters) and the staff couldn't have cared less. When I wanted to report it to the local police I was not offered the phone in the office and walked out of the site to a phone box. The number the staff had given me was for the local RSPB!
The bathrooms are very basic and the team of cleaners coming in are not very effective. Having a key says a lot about outside access on site.
We had a grass pitch which was almost bare. Take this review as you like but if you go to this site esp. in summer hols be warned.

August 2004 I have read other reviews of this site complaining about the factory at the end of the beach, to be fair the factory was mentioned in the brochure, it is a bit of an eyesore in the day, but looks quite nice at night if you walk back along the beach, the lights reflecting off the sea, people have complained about the lorries servicing the factory, but we never saw a lorry on the private road that passes the rear of the site, the crossing points were well marked with clear signage. The local pub was nice but busy; we had to reserve a table to eat, and whilst we were there the weather was particularly unkind in the evening, so we wanted to be inside. (same week as Boscastle disaster!) Good for younger children, but our eldest (12) was bored, beautiful surroundings (excluding the factory), pool is much smaller than it looks in the brochure, staff were very friendly, one evening where noisy campers caused problems, but security were brought in to solve this, and did, pleaseant site, well kept, would take companion for eldest child next time!

August 2004 We've just rebooked to go back to Par Sands having been recommended to go there by friends of ours. They talked a lot about the lovely ambience and feel of the park and the excellent standard of accomodation provided. Well, we were not dissapointed, on arrival we were warmley greeted by the owners of the park (who themselves have a young children) and given keys to our Holiday Caravan. This is our 4th holiday in a caravan and was very pleased to find a modern, clean and well positioned caravan that we could park next to. The park itself is well landscaped, peaceful (no clubhouse!!), clean and well maintained and right next to a wildlife lake which our caravan looked onto. The beach is immediatly in front of the park and was very safe for our young kids. Our budget is always limited so having the beach there meant not having to spend money on going eslwhere and getting caught up in the traffic, we spent many days on the beach and around the park. The park has a Pub within walking distance which also catered for children and had a good menu. The reason our friends recommended it was because they used the train which happens to stop right in the village of Par where the park located. All in all we had a great time are looking forward to next August. (hopefully the weather will better).

August 2004 We spent 2 weeks here in August 2004 in our caravan on a super pitch. Site was clean and as it was next to the beach ideal for children. The only slight thing we didn’t like was that the shower floors seamed to be full of sand every time we used them. (A mop and bucket could be made available). And the shower door was a bit small for privacy. (Approx 20” gap at the bottom and only 5’-6” high). There is a shop on site but is very limited for foodstuff. They don’t even supply Newspapers. But there is a shop within easy walking distance in the village. Loads of nearby places to visit. Newquay is only 23miles and it’s only 60 miles to Lands end. We will definitely be returning again.

August 2004 We have just had such a wonderful stay at Par Sands, so much so that I wanted to put finger to keyboard. We are well seasoned Tourers who have stayed in places all over Devon and Cornwall and have to say that this park has to be one of the best run I have been to. The site is well kept and managed, the pitch’s were of good size and were flat!!. The toilet and shower block was clean and well maintained and I noticed they had radiators for those chilly mornings. The general feel of being on the park was peaceful and calm and each morning we woke to the tune of the various species of bird who have made their home there. You can see how they have achieved the David Bellamy Gold award. The beach in front of the park was raked daily where we spent many hours paddling in the sea which was very safe for our children. Our youngest child spent his time boat spotting as the odd vessel came in and out of the port at Par. The wildlife lake on the park provided many hours of entertainment as we fed and watched the swans and Ducks each evening, the static caravans had a wonderful view over the lake. Although we didn’t meet the owners we understand the park is family owned and who have young children themselves, this was evident as there was a serious effort made to ensure the safety of children on the park, we really felt that we were being cared for during our stay. We enjoyed ourselves so much we have already booked for next year and will be hopefully be bringing our friends along with us.

August 2004 we have just spent a week at this site and I must say I was put off by some of the reviews on this site, but I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. Dogs are allowed on the site yes, but all the dogs we seen were kept on leads. The toilets and showers etc. were spotlessly clean even in this peak week and we had no problem with queues. I admit the factory is an eyesore but it is visible in the brochure that was sent to us and as it belched out steam and not smoke we told our Grandchildren it was a friendly dragon, which they used to wait to see. Also the other thing we liked was the local railway station which we used to see other parts of Cornwall without driving and parking problems. All in all we had a lovely time and would definitely return

21st May 2004 We stayed in a very nice caravan, number A9. We took advantage of The Sun newspaper £9.50 long weekend offer. We found this park to be of a high standard, in an area of beauty. It was quiet and clean and have already decided to go back next year. People moan about anything. Okay, it's no masterpiece. I would call this a 3 star park. Dog lovers would like to stay here as it is very dog-friendly, with good dog walk areas put aside. There is a factory next door; the chimmney isn't that tall. I liked it. 9/10 scored.

jun/jul 03 The view of the factory from every where including the beach was awful. We had to have a key for the toilets and even though this was not a busy time it was the only site that I had to queue for a shower. there were only 4 in the block. The large lorries travel near to the site to get to the factory and this road had to be crossed to get to the village. We were not a advised to avoid camping in front of the hedge hiding the road even though the site was almost empty of campers. Pubs in village were good. It was also the most expensive site we stayed in all the fortnight and I did tell the warden that.

A nice campsite with nice clean toilets. Right next to the beach, and has a small nature reserve on site including a lake which is very pretty. Par is a nice location if you want to travel around Cornwall.
The sea is also less rough and stays shallow so is good for kids and playing with inflateables. A good place to go.
