A canalside site with moorings. We camped here to attend the Lincoln Steam Rally, as it was cheaper and quieter. There were only 2 tents and 2 motorhomes there all weekend. The owner greeted us on arrival and let us choose a pitch away from the EHU's as we had chosen not to use electric on this warm weekend. This meant we could pitch furthest away from the road as the EHUs were near the entrance. We didn't see the owner again except when we had to call at the house to ask where the dry waste disposal/recycling bins were. They were at the end of the drive, near the gate as you entered the property, so a fair walk, we took our waste in the car on the way out each day. There were full recycling facilities. There were two gates, one locked at night with a code, so very secure. The other facilities on site were a chemical disposal point, discreetly hidden in a cabinet, and a water tap just outside the gate and shared with the barges moored on the canal. No showers or toilets, but this was reflected in the price. We were charged £5 a night for a tent with no EHU, though I believe it was more for caravans with EHU. Lovely short lush well kept grass, always nice when tent camping. There was some road noise during the day but it was quiet at night. Cows and sheep in the adjacent fields, lovely to watch. Saxilby is a fair walk down the lane, but a nice stroll along the canalside. Here you will find shops and a pubs, and also a railway station with trains to Lincoln (Castle, Cathedral, old town, riverside, museums, shops, etc). Lincolnshire Showground is a very short drive away. Would visit again, especially to visit Lincoln on the train next time.
