We had six nights from the 13th of April at Eau Dyke Bank Farm Tydd Gote, a Camping and Caravanning Club CL 131, 100 (Wisbech) on the Cambridgeshire Lincolnshire borders. Although this site is close to home we just needed a break. After a warm welcome from Sue we found the first of the many changes that she and Bob have made to the site since they have taken over this being a security barrier on to the site. The toilets are in what look from the outside to be a shed that is until you open the door to find them all lined out inside and painted white, the floors, toilets and sinks are spotless, there is another toilet and shower within the bungalow this is accessed from a door on the outside of the building this to was spotless. A drinking water tap has now been installed on the five van site. The grass was short so no need to worry about wet feet from the dew. There is fishing (during fishing season) within walking distance depending on the amount of equipment carried, there is room near the river for car parking if you decide to take it. There are tackle shops in Sutton Bridge, Holbeach and Wisbech. The site is close enough for a day trip to Sandringham, Hunstanton or Skegness, for shoppers King’s Lynn, the Springfield outlet centre in Spalding, or Peterborough for shopping or the cathedral, as well as Ely for its cathedral. The Tydd Gote Inn has been sold and is now an Indian restaurant we did not try it. There is an English pub in Tydd St Mary about a mile away towards Long Sutton first turning on left. While on site we could hear Woodpeckers drumming on the trees then on the Sunday evening we had two Green Woodpeckers land on the grass in front of the caravan, the following morning my wife spotted a Greater Spotted Woodpecker in a tree in front of the bungalow. Although Sue and Bob live on site they are not in your face, but ask if there is anything they can help with each time you see them.
