Not a good site at all poor customer service, we had arranged to stay on the site for a month but after two days we were informed that they were closing the site for repairs which we later found out was a pack of lies, as the site is still open for business now but we were told it would be closed until April.
The facilities were poor and not clean when we hooked up the the electric hookup the couple in the caravan next to us plugged into our hookup and used our electric and when we called up the owners they refused to come out and sort it out so we had no electric all night and it was freezing cold,
So I would definitely not recommend anyone use that site, it was the worse site we have ever visited.

Came as a group of 10, all 16, campsite accommodated us well in as much as they didn’t bother us despite some rowdiness, other campers were also very respectful.
Very convenient location, only 20 or so mins walk from Birchington itself for shops and the route parallel to the sea (about a minute from the site) is great.
Only improvement would be some expansion, another tent field would be ideal for similar large groups.
Toilets, taps, kitchen were all clean and in working order, showers were also pretty good.

Site doesn't meet with distance between units, couldn't get on the one I reserved,
toilets, showers need a deep clean, chemical waste point vomit inducing,
no clean water to wash out your container, washed out at waste water point, thus contaminating the tap with human excrement and people used that point for drinking water, washed it and never used it again, awful

Hawk Place is a campsite set alongside the sea wall just west of Minnis Bay – a handy position for the beach, the cycleway that uses the sea wall, and for visiting the Thanet towns and attractions in this part of Kent.
The site has great potential, and clearly has a fan club who enjoy staying here. However, I couldn’t help thinking it needs a bit of TLC. Most of its shortcomings are little niggles that could easily be put right. For example, while there is concrete hardstanding around the two toilet/shower blocks, there is only a dirt trench covered with old mats linking them (which presumably floods when it rains – hence the mats). There is also hardly any lighting on the site – even around the toilet blocks. Great for star-gazing, but not so clever when trying to avoid tripping down that dirt trench!
The field itself is uneven in places – probably the result of horses having once grazed in it. In addition, many of the EHUs are the end of plug-in cables that trail around the site – some of which feed into adaptors! All these things one might overlook were one paying a basic (under £15 per night) tariff. However, the site really needs to up its game if it is to justify charging £20 per night off-season (notwithstanding that sites in southern England charge more than elsewhere).
Nearby, there are two restaurants on the sea front at Minnis Bay that serve meals at £10-12 per head. There are shops and supermarkets in Birchington High Street which is about a ten minute drive away. There is also a Londis supermarket at the town end of Dane Road that can be cycled to if you don’t fancy getting the car out.
Not a bad site, by any means. But it could be better.

Very nice location. Clean toilets and shower unit. If you are placed into the 'tent field's please be careful as you drive your car down the slope into to field. Both of our cars grounded on the kerb. Also, the sleeping policeman seemed a little severe.
However, this has become our favourite campsite. Simple and easy camping. Friendly staff, clean facilities. Terrific views, love it here. Will certainly be returning. Do not hesitate!

Hawk Place Campsite, is in a great location, right by the beach with a path / promenade suitable for walking and cycling.
The facilities really let it down, they were dirty with no where to put anything, they really were in desperate need of a deep clean.
Two showers is not enough for a campsite of that size, even if you felt that you wanted to use them. I'm more than happy with basic facilities, but they need to be clean, surely that is part of what you pay for.
The web site is good and the campsite could be amazing, although its needs some serious TLC.

I agree with the previous review, this site has bags of potential.
- Close to the Beach
- Great walks along the coast, turn left and a 2 mile walk to the old ministry with a visitors center and pub. Turn right and a 10 minute walk to the Minnis Bay pub or café.
- The pub and café are nice and good value
The issues
- I could only find one drinking water tap next to the old toilet block. So the water for my van had to come up a slope then along to my van
- The chemical waste area was an IBC buried in the ground that you unscrewed and tipped in – revolting – it was also over grown with nettles
There is
O 1 Gents
O 1 Ladies
O 1 shower with WC and no were to put clothes, however once in the shower was good
O Shower curtain has mould on it
O In the brick block next to the main green block was another shower and WC – this not very clean with a birds nest.
This site is in an amazing position and there is a real lack of good sites in Kent. It is located minutes away from
- Whitstable
- Broadstairs
- Ramsgate
- Maragate
- Herne Bay
- For the shoppers – Westgate
I had the feeling that the owners were more interested in the riding stables and using the caravans to top up the income. With good management and some investment this site could be amazing.

On arrival the reception showed us to our pitch but there is also a map inside and your name and pitch on a board in case no one is there. For 2 nights, 3 adults and a car our tent pitch cost only £32 which is one of the cheapest in the area with a beach location. The sea could be heard and a handy footpath means it is a 1 minute walk away and from there a 10 minute walk to Minnis Bay. The toilets were kept very clean and one could tell this was done daily. The washing up facilities and communal fridge and freezer in reception were very handy and there are two well spaced drinking water points and a waste disposal unit. The neighbouring equestrian centre caused no trouble with no noise or smell AT ALL, one wouldn't even know they were there. The staff are very nice and on hand with just a text, but usually someone is always at reception. Well spaced pitches and an even, easy-pitching terrain! Excellent stay and will be returning!

Hired the clamping pod for a night, and it was utterly fabulous. Lovely site, friendly and helpful people, surrounded by horses, beautiful countryside and the sea. What more could anyone want. Just lovely. Got home 2 hours ago, rebooking already !

We have stayed on this site a few times now in both a tent and now a caravan. This is one of the best sites we have stayed on as it is so unspoiled and quiet. Though basic (what we prefer) there is all you need at this site with very friendly owners and a fab close proximity to the beach with no traffic to dodge. For anyone who wants to take children camping I would highly recommend this site as it is safe and if they have bikes it is flat and safe for them to ride around and up to the beach. We loved the short walk to the pubs along the sea wall from both sides and another bonus is dogs are welcome on the site and all year on the beach. The site is also an equestrian center and the lovely horses are worth a look or a ride. Great value for money and looking forward to returning.
