Arrived at campsite midday, lovely setting not difficult to find although roads were very narrow. Paul the owner greeted us on arrival he was very friendly and easy to get on with. We were shown to our pitch which was very generous in size. He indicated to us the washing facilities and "immaculate toilet and shower block" . Whilst pitching up our son went to use the facilities and returned with a look of disgust on his face and said they were disgusting. We went to inspect this ourselves as children can be dramatic and found we had to agree with him. Everything works properly and is as clean as you would expect if ninety people were using your toilet. It was a surprise to find that no television or radio signals could be found to the dismay of our two sons. However after the weekend we all agreed it was nice to have sat down and chatted. The setting was lovely and well shelterd from wind, the ground was fairly level, we would have no problem returning to this site if the toilet and shower facilities were updated to accommodate the amount of people using them.

Arrived at this site on Friday lunchtime. A really pleasant site with very spacious pitches. On Saturday many more people turned up and no-one was turned away which meant that the central isle of grass ideal for children to play on was filled with tents, the owner did state that he does not usually let this part of the site out. I can understand the owner not wanting to disappoint anyone but he must realise that the more people he books onto the site the less efficient the facilities. One washing up sink with intermittent hot water is not enough for approx 50 units which is how many were expected to share this facility - needless to say toilet and shower queues were also a problem. A lovely site but needs more facilities for the amount of units booked onto site

A small and basic site it may be but we found it perfect for what we needed. There are four showers (now all working after having been refurbished twice after first lot of tiles all fell off) Small play area for little Suzi and a lovely walk (20mins) to the Hayburn wike inn along the disused railway line. If you dont want fuss and noise you couldnt go far wrong. The owners and their family were very helpful. We will be back!

A peaceful sheltered site run by Paul a very friendly chap. We love it here because all the time you are here you dont have to walk on any roads. Take a walk down the old railway track to the Hayburn Wyke pub. Also at the back of the pub [not far] you will find the beautiful smugglers cove, fantastic. Yes the amenities are out of date

Just returned from a three night stay at this camp site. We found the site fairly easily, but care is needed on the windy, narrow roads. The site has a pleasent atmosphere and the owners are friendly and helpful. The pitch was flat and in nice surroundings. The toilets were basic, although soap, toilet paper and hand towels were provided, they were a bit on the dirty side and need updating. The showers were the same.
Nicely situated inbetween Scarborough and Whitby. There is also an old disused railway track, which is now a footpath, accessable off the road leading to the site. If you turn left and follow the path for about 15mins you come to a lovely pub with a nice atmosphere, good food and very kiddy friendly. We had a nice few days.

April 2005 Just got back from mayday weekend at Lowfield. The owners were very friendly and helpful. The toilets and showers were in need of updating but he assured me that this was in the pipeline. They were kept as clean as possible. Pitches were a good size and the rates were very reasonable. The only advice I can give is check the weather forecast as it can be boggy if it rains like it did this weekend. Nice and quiet and sheltered, will go back if the weather is ok.

August 2004 Just returned from a weeks stay here. The owners were very friendly but the amenities are in desperate need of refurbishment, only one male toilet in action and one shower as repairs were needed. The hot water in the ladies toilet just trickled out too. The ground was very muddy and it didn't help that the grass hadn't been cut either for many weeks and the pot holes in the road were just constantly muddy puddles.
All this said we did enjoy our holiday and wanted to stay longer but it was fully booked. We did look at Northcliffe whilst in N.Yorkshire and we will be going there in the future.

June 2004 Very flat quite sheltered site, very friendly and helpful owners, amenities could do with updating but kept in good, clean condition. Would recommend if requiring a quiet off the beaten track site. Will go again if in the area. A+

Summer Season 2003 Extremely friendly little site, well looked after and quiet. It's like "coming home". Brilliant location between Scarborough and Whitby - bring your bikes to do the disused railway ride/walk which passes right next to the site.
Can't wait 'til we visit next

Aug 2003 First time campers, with 2 boys 8 & 10. Fairly small, 'L' shaped, flat site, with tents near entrance and caravans with electric hook-up around back near showers/toilets. Owner friendly and helpful. Quiet, rural setting off-the-beaten-track. Small shop and library (with washing up sink). Free showers (2) kept clean but in rough outbuilding, bit delapidated. Separate toilet block has ladies and gents and disabled all with a couple of handbasins, mirrors, hand towels. Good small enclosed play area for little kids.
A 1 mile walk along disused railway to nearest pub 'Hayburn Wyke' which was excellent (kid friendly, good food, pleasant staff) but take a good torch if coming back at night as very dark being surrounded both sides by forest with only occasional clearing. Fantastic walk in opposite direction, through woodland along stream to very rocky beach inc. waterfall. Cut across small field to complete a 2 mile circuit back to pub. All in all 7/10.
