Phoned enquiring on availability for two caravans and a tent for the bank holiday at pretty short notice and was pleasantly surprised to be accepted, no deposit. Read a review about single track access road onto the site with slight concern but with no alternative site on offer put the thought to the back of my mind. Glad I did however the access road is narrow and is a mile long depending on where on the A153 ( I think that's the right road) you enter Chapel Hill.
We went up Twenty foot bank, missed the signpost for the site and took a left turn by the river onto the narrow road driving away from the site on what is a mile long narrow road, after several minutes we realised we were heading in the wrong direction and managed to pull into a farmyard turn around and got back onto the road heading in the right direction as we reached the point we'd turned left we saw the camp sign which is hidden from view by some bushes , after completing the right turn the campsite was clearly visible below us just a few hundred feet to the entrance. Another of our party entered Chapel Hill from a different point and had to travel about a mile on the narrow road and was grateful not to meet another outfit coming the other way.
So the site itself was a pleasant surprise, true, what others have said most of the tourers seem to be there for the duration and the available pitches were few but we felt very welcome. The seasonal campers were very friendly and have clearly found the ideal spot and don't want to keep looking ! The toilet block appears to be relatively new , a wooden chalet type building 3 loos and 2 showers (in the ladies) it seemed to be adequate for the site as I didn't have to queue, although there was no hot water on one of the days.
There is a clubhouse that was also newish with a family room, the adult side has a 3/4 snooker table that the menfolk seemed to appreciate (etiquette dictates that those finishing a game set up the balls for the next players !) We didn't have kids with us but we did go in the family room a couple of times as it was a bit livelier in there. There is a small swimming pool less than 4ft deep but some kids were splashing about happily and I put my toe in to test the temperature , it felt warm enough.
The small shop stocked some essentials but no newspapers, I think Tattershall was the nearest place for the post office , Sommerfield, bookies and a great chippy, we eat fish, chips and peas in the small restaurant at the back £10.90 with 2 teas, tasted lovely, real big fat chips. Not being mean but neither of us could finish the massive portion so next time would probably buy one lot and take it home to share.
The location next to the river Witham was lovely, the other half likes to fish and he spent many a fruitless hour trying, there are fish in there because one of our party borrowed his spare rod and caught 6 ! Anyway you can't win 'em all. All this for £14.00 a night a bargain. Only downside blooming wasps, we were plagued by them don't know if it was close proximity to the river or just a freak weekend but none of us got stung so no harm done. Boston about 10 miles away.
I think the person who owns this site has invested a lot in it for its size (there is a static park too) so well done to them, might be nice to extend it a little bit to take a few more tourers and I hope my positive review doesn't result in me not being able to get on it again.

Booked this site for two caravans after calling about every other site in Lincs with a swimming pool. Touring field was full except for two pitches tucked away between two high hedges with a scenic heap of dirt to look at. Access to the pitches was nigh on impossible with the prospect of weaving our large 'van through a maze of cars & awnings. No thanks. So we ended up on two vacant static caravan hardstandings.
First the plus points - quiet, pub with decent food, reasonable prices & entertainment, lovely walks along the river Witham, local pub in Chapel Hill 2 mins 20 secs walk along the river bank & down a path between gardens. Kids games rooms with cheap machines & pool table. Free indoor heated swimming pool. Excellent toilets & showers. Helpful staff. Excellent launderette (albeit with 2005 tourist brochures). Nice kids play area. Free flying displays thanks to the nearby Coningsby airfeld.
Bad points - the touring field was cramped, it looked like a lot of caravans were on seasonal or permanent pitches. Disposal point closed - had to empty Thetford & Wastehog down disabled toilet. Very messy & impractical. Awkward road in & out - effectively single track for the final leg off the "20 Foot Level" road. I'd hate to come across another outfit coming the other way. No on-site shop & none in the village that I could find.
It could be so much better - instead of concentrating on the bar development the site really needs proper disposal facilities - I have never been to a site without dedicated chemical toilet disposal. The site appears to cater mainly for the village of static caravans at the expense of genuine tourers.
Overall I'd give the site 3 out of 5 stars - for a nice quiet site with a lot of unrealised potential.

We went here on our first camping trip it is a lovely place, friendly people, nice indoor pool, childrens play area. Also two ponys for children to visit on river bank. It is not far from boston and tattersall. No shop on site but a short walk along bank to a small village shop which sells almost everything. The site is nice and clean and has a lovely new shower/toilet block on the camping site. Electric hook up is included in the price we paid 14.oo per night for a 4 berth tent.
