Just returned from our second visit of this year to Lake Ross, having planned next years return and feel the need to comment on the previous review.
Yes,the pitches are small but we managed to put the 'van, porch awning and car on the pitch side by side.On visiting earlier in the year with a couple in another van when we both wanted to put up a full awning,we simply explained that to Shirley on booking and were allocated three pitches between the two of us at no extra charge to give us the space to do just that,as long as they know in advance the size of your unit, then pitches can be allocated to suit all.
Showers are basic but the 20p lasts a good while and the water is hot, also heated in the colder weather, cleanliness is never an issue.
Club on site always welcoming and has occasional entertainment laid on,can normally find some-one for a game of pool as well.
A good few of the pitches are taken up with seasonal 'vanners who are a friendly bunch and willing to stop for a chat or to get you to join in with anything going on site.
Nearby Post Office cum village shop sells all essentials and has a handy range of freshly prepared sandwiches for a quick snack.
Oh and fishing on site not bad either, just ask the other half

Visited this site over the bank holiday weekend, as we where attending a family party nearby. We had 3 pitches overlooking the lake - was very relaxing watching the fishermen whilst cooking breakfast! The pitches where small and if we didn't know our neighbours would have been very cosy!
The owners, and caravanners with seasonal pitches, where all very friendly. The facilities - although limited - where very clean. We only went in the bar/club house on the Sunday night after spending a couple of hours in the pub across the road (not recommended), the bar was compact but with a good atmosphere - there was a family fortunes style quiz 'just for fun!' which we all enjoyed.
Wouldn't really recommend for families with children due to lack of space to play and open water.

Arrived at the site late Friday booked in for a two night stay and was greeted by a nice lady who showed us to our pitch and gave us some pointers regarding the site facilities/local takeaways etc.
Our pitch overlooked the fishing lake and our initial thoughts were good. After pitching the tent it was clear the pitches were small and lacked privacy - in addition there was no space for vehicles to be parked alongside the pitch which, in itself, was not a major problem but is difficult when you are lugging stuff to and from the car park and generally manoeuvring a vehicle on the site is somewhat difficult.
The facilities were clean, but basis with one shower cubicle in each of the gents and ladies - have your 20p's at the ready. There is a nice/small bar on site which we peeked at but didn't dare use!
We left the site Saturday morning - after only being there for little over 12 hours

We have just returned from a weeks stay at this site, which is now under the guidance of new owners, Nigel and Shirley. Lake Ross is a very small and compact site, situated a good walk from the town of Spalding. There are no public transport services to the site, except on a Tuesday, which is Market day in Spalding, so your own transport or a good pair of walking shoes are a must.
The site itself consists of a marvellous, picturesque fishing lake, which is well stocked with countless numbers of double figured Carp.
There are toilet, shower and dishwashing facilities, along with a newly installed washing machine. After a hard day of doing whatever you wish there is a small compact on site Club, for liquid refreshment.
In my opinion this site is not suited to very young children as there is the constant danger of them taking a dip in the fishing lake, but is heaven to anyone wishing to try and attract fish. I cannot wait to return for another week of therapy.
Nigel and Shirley could not be more friendly, and the same goes for the occupants of a number of Touring caravans occupying seasonal pitches on the site. A first class site coming highly recommended in my opinion.

This site is now under new management as of three weeks ago. The new owners Nigel and Shirley are very friendly and accommodating.
The site is in a beautiful location featuring a well stocked fishing lake. There is a very nice small friendly club on site which provides occasional entertainment and always good beer.
The toilet facilities etc are very clean. The site is very well maintained. Previous reviews state that it is necessary to leave the site by 10. 00 am. - This is now not the case.

This site is lovely and peaceful with a lovely view of the lake. It is ideal for people who like fishing. We do not fish, but we was pitched right on the edge of the lake and at night the fish was jumping out of the water and I could hear the water splashing as the fish was was jumping. It is only a couple of minutes drive from Spalding which is useful to us as my daughter lives in Spalding and we come over to visit. Also we drove to Bourne which is also very nice and only about 15 minutes drive away. As we was in a tent we needed pot washing facilities which was not the best we have ever experienced. There is a pot sink without any draining board. Also be aware that they only accept cash and do not have credit card facilities. If you take children please do not let them throw bread for the ducks as this is not allowed Finally, you need to know that you have to be off site at 10.00am. We was told this on the day of departure at 9.00am (I was still fast asleep at this time.).

Visited this site about 2 years ago now, keep meaning to go back. Great fishing you can pitch right up to the lake. Toilets and 1 shower basic but clean, shower by 20p coin. There is a club on site very friendly and welcoming also used by locals. Pub just down the road too. Short drive into Spalding also range of take aways on route.
