We chose this site as it's open all year unlike many other sites in the area. One of the loveliest welcomes I've ever had on a site - we were offered a hot drink when we arrived and given a tour of all facilities.

The site is small but has everything you could possibly need. Lovely and quiet. Nice level pitches and/or hard standings. The toilets are a little older, but kept clean and serviceable. A lounge with books and TV were available and there was also a laundry.

Lots to do in the local area - this site is well positioned for both the North and South coasts.

A really enjoyable stay.

This is the second time we have stayed on this site so we were welcomed back as old friends. Cups of tea when you arrive & helping you to site the van are standard service.

For those of you with dogs in tow there are some great walks in the immediate vicinity. It is a very easy walk down hill to Penzance & if you don't feel like walking back, the 10A bus will deliver you most of the way back. Within a few minutes walk from the site there are a couple of shops, a bakery & the chip shop.

The nearest pub is The Sportsmans. Very friendly with good food/beer options even for fussy vegetarians like us.

The utility room on site is very useful if you need to do laundry or washing up. It is pay for use though so make sure that you have some change.

Shower & toilets are a bit basic but clean & tidy. The shower is also pay for use. 50p for 10 minutes. There is only one shower in both the ladies & the gents. The lounge has a lot of useful local guides as well as the TV & book shelf.

We will definitely be back for a return visit.

Welcome: this is without doubt the nicest and warm welcome I've ever had, they make you a hot drink when you arrive so you can relax and get on with setting up camp. Once your ready they show you around the facilities and give you a welcome pack that contains all the info you need on penwith and the area. A great welcome by lovely people.

Site: nice clean and well-kept grounds, the site is split into sections with a couple of enclosed spaces for tents and lots of spaces for large tents / mobiles which have electric hook ups. We didn’t use them as we are tent campers. Some had hard standing others just grass, but all were large spaces so no difficulty spreading yourself out.

Facilities: a reception with basics for sale tea coffee milk cans etc, reasonable prices too.

A lounge with TV chairs and tables it also had a bookshelf where you could take a book if you wanted (and leave one if you finished your own) a couple of games including a pack of cards, Lots of local info and a map.

Toilets: the toilets were small one cubicle in the gents and one shower, and urinal with 2 sinks, they were clearly old but well maintained, although the showers could have been a bit cleaner and bigger. Personally I would remodel them but they were adequate for our needs, but if the site was busy it may be a problem. Hot water for the shower was 50p for 10 mins

Utility room: a great feature was a utility room with a washing machine and dryer, also a outside rotary washing line, microwave, kettle and sink with hot water (metered again) the laundry machine was £1 I think but we didn’t use it. The place was clean and well looked after.

Local area: quiet village of heamoor a few mins away with a small shop, and a bakery up the road, the chip shop is very well thought of in the area, the British legion is opposite if you’re a member of the legion you can go in, or as a guest. The sportsman’s it the nearest pub, with the king (bill) William in Madron a few miles up the hill.

There are a couple of churches in the village, one where Charles Wesley preached (Wesley rock) and an Anglican a few steps away.

There are a lot of foot paths to go for a stroll leading to Penzance, and the surrounding area, and Trengwainton gardens is within walking distance

I would recommend this site to anyone with its friendly staff and local area it’s a winner for families and couples, and anyone travelling alone with one or 2 small improvements this would be my site of the year.

It was my first time camping with my son and I could not of chose a better place, it was totally awesome there, old fashioned but everything you want! Toilets, showers and a living room and kitchen. There is a very small shop for basics on site but there is a shop round the corner and a chip shop but the chip shop is only open certain days.

We even both got a drink while we set up our tent which was well received by both of us.

It's not far to walk to Penzance though there is a local bus that takes you there as well, from Penzenze there are loads of buses to every part of Cornwall.

My son and I went on many walks around the area and there is even a National Trust Park up the road called Trengwainon which we really loved. One person on the site that stays there all year round lent us his chairs and table so my son and I could sit down while we had a BBQ and when it was time to go home another person who lives on the site too, gave us a lift to the station so we wouldn't have to carry all our things which I thought was extremely lovely and we was very grateful.

I would recommend this site to anyone, it is small but I think it adds to its charm.

 Small hidden-away place outside Penzance.

We were greeted by a nice woman, who gave us a pitch and showed us around.

Showers and hot water in the kitchen are pay-metres.

Got a nice room with tv (lots of channels, apparently), dvd player, and of course power slots for charging whatever needs it.

Generally nice and clean. Flat pitches. Very small and quiet place.

This is a very small site just outside Penzance (took us 40mins to walk up hill from train station). The lady who met us was very friendly, they had a little shop with a decent selection of bits and bobs. There is apparently a pub 5 mins walk away but after our week on coast path we just crashed out.
There is no view due to trees but site is cosy and had some nice features - there was a garden table and chairs in our little section, a welcome change to sitting on the ground all week, and it had a little street lamp above it so weren't forced to bed when it got dark. It was the first site with a lounge with books, tv and dvd player.
Kitchen was pretty good, almost like a normal one in a house including microwave. Still charging for hot water to wash up though. The toilet / shower block was small but I never had to wait. At £13.50 for two for night pretty good value, not the best site of the week but did the trick and some nice touches.
Too out of the way for people on foot though.

Owners away during my stay, but greeted by Jean who guided me in when my Sat-Nav failed me and immediately offered me a cuppa, much welcomed. She continued to be really helpful to all, offering restaurant advice, helping some poor couple to try to hire a car to Scotland, providing packs of cards to bored campers. A lovely lady who works really hard and should be commended.

We were squeezed in a bit like sardines into a tiny section; my view out of the tent looking into the front of someone else's and the car having to be parked elsewhere. Having said that, it's high season, so to be expected. £10 for a night in a 2 man tent is not bad.

The kitchen is spacious, although paying 10p for hot water seems a little tight. The lounge is basic but welcome, with plenty of books to chose from and a telly if you get really bored. The toilet block; only 2 loos and 1 shower per sex is an issue and causes queues. Solution? Off peak showering! 10p for 3 mins. They weren't the cleanest or the freshest in decoration either. A little TLC would go a long way.

Ditto the whole site, actually; broken plant pots, tiling missing off walls, rush matting breaking off the bottom of the statics. It was just missing a little investment in time and money.

All in all, a good location for exploring West Cornwall; don't miss the Minack open-air theatre at Porthcurno. If you're thinking of going to St Ives (make if off season; it's PACKED!) try driving to St Erth (10 mins away, back through Penzance) then getting the train (£4 return + £1.20 parking at station after 11am). Parking is a nightmare in St Ives and the views from the train are amazing.

We stayed on this site for 2nights although we only live 5 minutes away! We wanted somewhere close to hand as there were 3 children and we are new to camping. What a fantastic site very well maintained and friendly, surprised to see the amount of facilities for such a small site. There isnt a play area for the children but the owners made them very welcome and because there was a couple of empty spaces they were able to let off some steam and play games there. Excellent.

What a wonderful little site. We were touring Cornwall in our campervan and wanted a 2 night stop over near Penzance and we couldn't have picked a better site.

Its about a 20-30 minute walk into Penzance, has a little supermarket and a fish and chip shop nearby (which we didn't try but the campers next to us highly recommended it).

The site was well maintained, pretty, and had really nice additions like rotary lines, wooden tables and benches, a tv lounge, and in the washing up/laundry room was a microwave, kettle, iron and ironing board if you wanted to use them. The toilet blocks were very clean and nicely decorated and the shower (10p for 3 mins) was a great temperature. The owner was very pleasant and welcoming and at £14 a night with EHU during Whitsun week, we felt was a good price.

We would be happy to return to this lovely site.

Just got back from having a week on this site. Weather was mostly gales and rain but enjoyed it just the same. It is very easy to get into Penzance from here. The site owner Bob was very very helpful to us. He game us a television lead to connect to site aerial as our roof one was not strong enough he also lent me a remote for the free-view we had on board. (who is a silly sod and forgot it) It is a very good small site and maximum motor-homes I would estimate he could take would be about thirty. The site also has two tent areas and a lounge just in case the tenters get fed up and wet.
