The site is nice small site next to a fairly busy road and also under the flightpath of Newquay airport. These were not major problems for us, but may be for some, so be aware.
The site has some level pitches and it is these that are the main source of problems as they look like they have been done on the cheap with zero drainage so if rain is possible avoid at all cost as you will end up in a quagmire rivalling Glastonbury.
Countless people went home leaving pitches nearly ankle deep in mud. We ruined £100 of breathable groundsheets and 3 sets of clothes we were wearing while packing up due to the mud. We complained about the pitch and asked for some money back but were told and I quote "thats camping". Sorry but I would expect this if in a farmers field but not a purpose built site with supposedly level terraced pitches.
Talking to one of the permanent pitch owners, he stated the level pitches have been a problem for a number of years and he had seen no sign of improvements being made with the exception of the level pitches slowly being made all hardstanding. Obviously the owners are more interested in taking in the money then doing 'maintenance and improvements' in the off season.
The showers (and even baths) at first glance are very good - which they are, when they work!. They have a curious electronic switch instead of the usually push ones which just stops working mid shower. On 5 separate occasions I had to either switch cubicles halfway through a shower or wait about 5 mins - this is just not acceptable. There is also no temperature control which one day when I was really hot I could have done with a cold shower but had to have a make do with a hot one.
Pool and pool area is very good. Hookups seemed plentiful, water areas adequate.
Shop/takeaway and bar are open very limited times, and very expensive, much more than you would expect even for a captive audience.
On the whole this has the nugget of a very good site, but until they sort out the drainage and the shower situation I cannot recommend it.

I have just recently returned from a five night stay here with my wife, four year old son and the dog. After seven hours driving from Windsor, mainly stuck in traffic, we rang ahead to advise we where running late. We need not have worried as we were told there would be someone available on arrival and there was. It was just before 7pm when we got there. The staff were very welcoming and showed us to our pitch. A compact site set over three or four tiers with all the vans and tent very pitched very close together. We didn't put our awning up on the first night as the entrance would have gone straight into next doors tent. The site had suffered from 2 weeks of rain prior to our arrival, and the pitches were very muddy. Had we not had motor movers on the caravan I think we would have really struggled to pitch it. I'm sure the staff would have been more than happy to give a hand though had we struggled. The site has a small shop offering the basics, however it is only open a couple of hours in the morning and evening. There is also a take away on site as well as a pub with games room. Unfortunately we didn't get a chance to try out either, so I can't comment on them. Fortunatly for us the Sun followed us and the site quickly dried out. The outdoor pool was a good size and great fun if not a lttle chilly at first. My four year old didn't seem to mind. The shower block was well maintained and clean. Plenty of hot water. Unfortunately as with so many sites there was no mixer tap on the showers so you either had a very hot shower or a very hot shower. Although a dog friendly site, all dogs had to be walked off site as no dog walk area available. Unfortunately the only route off site was unlit and not at all ideal at night. Quite close to the A39 and under the airports flight path the noise wasn't to bad and hardly noticable. A good base for Newquay and the surrounding areas we would certainly think about going back again. 7/10

Trekenning tourist park is just off the busy a30 roundabout, the entrance and exit are shared so hope you don't meet another caravan coming other way, there brochure shows a tarmac road but this only on entry the rest of the road is track with stones, trekenning is a small site but a little over crowed and some pitches are close to each other, some pitches individually built up with banking's which became slippery when wet. Some pitchers are right at the side of the busy A30 so very noisy early morning through to late evening, swimming pool is just ok, showers are free and plenty of room, toilets are clean, static caravans have been placed on dog walk so dogs have to be walked off site and yes along side the busy a30 or in the lay-by next to the site. large airplane's pass over each morning and evening seem Little loud at first but you get use to them. The guy on the sit and ride lawn mower wants to take him self off to digger land, he drove people nuts with his constant grass cutting, weather was second to none while we were there and the beaches made up for the sites let downs.

May 2005 The owners are very friendly and made us feel most welcome when we arrived at the site. We were a little disappointed with the site but at £15.00 a night with a heated outdoor pool you can't really complain. The kids play area looked very old with lots of rubbish scattered across the sand. The pool looked stunning in the pictures but looked a bit shabby in real life (could do with a lick of paint and a clean out). It is however set in a stunning place and could look superb. The shop is only open between 9 - 11 am and then between 5 - 6pm which didn't seem adequate seeing as it was whitsun week. They didn't sell newspapers either which I found a little odd. Very close to flight path and A30 although you do get used to the noise. Plus points are the toilets are clean, staff v.friendly and you get the pool to yourself.
Having said all this, you get what you pay for and we came away having had a relaxing break with the family for only £15.00 a night.

September 2004 This was our first time out camping, and we chose Tekkening tourist park for various reasons. We went in the first week of Sept 2004 the weather was great, and we virtually had the site to ourselves including the swimming pool. Bearing in mind we had nothing to compare it to, we thought the site and facilities were good, especially the swimming pool.
It is a good base for touring Cornwall as we did, but you need a car to get to the beach. St Columb a nearby village (1mile) with a good choice of pubs and friendly natives, it also has two fish and chip shops. We used the one next to the Ring Of Bells Pub and I can highly recommend this one.
Because it was the end of the season and the fact there was hardly any one on site the bar and shop on site were shut except for the weekend. There are a couple of minus points that might put people off. First you are on the flight path to Newquay Airport I thought when the first flight went over 8.30 in the morning it would spoil our stay, but surprisingly (probably because there are only a handful of flights coming in and out) we hardly noticed them. There is also a bit of road noise from the nearby A30 but again it did not spoil our stay.
The owners are from Manchester and were very helpful to us through out our stay. All in all we thought it was a good site with good facilities with not to many minus points and we would go back

August 2004 This site is in a great position, 5 miles inland of Newquay, so very central. When we holidayed there it was high season so we expected it to be busy. Having said that we were not expecting to be so close to other campers and caravaners. The pitches are very close together.
The toilet and shower facilities were very clean and there were 2 bathrooms, great for the children. The pool was lovely, in a great sunny, sheltered spot. The entertainment didn't go on too late and was kept well away from the main camping area. We had one night when there was a lot of noise but the owners dealt with it very quickly.
