 Just returned from a 2 night break at Tanglewood. We booked in advance (Bank Holiday) and my party consisted of 5 in 2 tents. We were given pitches in “The Meadow” as the pitches near the front (near the toilets) of the park were thought to be a bit boggy and to be honest this is the better area (so remember to ask for a pitch in The Meadow if possible).
We pitched up with no problems. There were statics dotted around the edge. It was a bit of way from the toilets but we managed. The toilets were dated (aren’t they all) but always were clean even if they didn’t smell fresh. There was one shower which worked okay and was free. There was only 1 sink to wash pots which is not sufficient for the size of the site so we managed boiling our kettle etc. You just have to make do sometimes.
There was a club house which was canny, they put on bingo (I won a line!), karaoke, etc. It kept us entertained for a few hours and there was a kids room with pool table. The site was pretty friendly – never felt like an outsider. The only other kids facilities consisted of a set of swings which had seen better days so could be improved.
All in all a canny little site, bit run down around the edges. Silloth itself didn’t really have to much to offer apart from a car boot sale on a Sunday which we fairly good and the most fantastic chips I have ever tasted in the town centre (corner of street) but that was it really. However there is a Spar and Co-op for necessities too. Would I go back? Yes probably.
