This is a great wee site in a great location. The access road is tight and a bit rough but no real issue.
You can walk to Rockcliffe (15 mins) which is a quant wee place but no facilities albeit you can walk to Rough Island when the tide is out. You can venture further to Kippford (another 15 mins) where there are two hotels. We ate in both and they were fine, good pub grub. Lovely view from both out into the Urr estuary.
Toilets etc on site are exceptionally good, the site grounds are well maintained by the friendly couple who run the site.
Dalbeattie is a short drive, castle Douglas has a decent Tesco and Kirkcudbright is worth a visit. Lots of options if you are beach people.
The only only down side of the site is a very poor phone signal, site wi-fi is also very poor and forget about a TV signal - so if these things are important you it might be an issue.
It was a bit remote for us but if you want away to somewhere get away from it all it is worth a visit.

Stunning location with views over to the sea and Rough Island. We were lucky to be pitched at the front with direct views but each pitch offers some sort of view because of the gradual slope upwards towards the entrance. Levellers may be needed on some pitches.
The site owners are lovely people, very friendly and helpful.
The facility block is kept extremely clean and the showers are great. Proper power showers and no constant button pressing! Big bonus.
We found the site extremely peaceful and the quiet hours were observed.
Camping is on a separate field at the top of the site so cannot comment on the facilities there.
There are many walks available direct from the site The one to Sandyhills is beautiful but don't attempt it if you have any sort of mobility problems because some of the slopes are very steep. For cyclists there is the Dalbeattie Forest. Highly recommended.
There is no shop on site but there is a Londis a mile and half away which caters for basic supplies only. For something more substantial, a visit into Dalbeattie is needed, about 15 minutes drive.
There are two hotels/pubs in nearby Kippford about a 10 minute drive.
Looking forward to a return trip.

Our new favourite site. I cannot express how much of a gem this site is. Booking was straightforward, checking in was straightforward and pitching easy.
Facilities were spotless and covid regulations and rules adhered to.
Beautiful environment to be surrounded by with views of the coast and beyond. Lots of dog walks from site. Ice cream van down in the beach area of Rockliffe.
We paid £22 per night plus £1 per night for the dog. Don't like paying for dog but normally can understand the charge if there is a special dog area on site and bins provided which sadly this site didn't have.
Still, very well priced for time of year. Everything bar a few little niggles was perfect for a quiet get away.
1st niggle, couldn't find any bins for dog toilet disposable on site.
2nd, slightly wider hard standing pitches would be preferable as getting in and out of van onto grass means having to clean trailed in grass up, I don't go on holiday to clean.
3rd and final niggle, unsupervised children running around vans. Young boys letting off steam, fine but it did mean we couldn't sit out in the evening sunshine as they were unsettling the dog. When there is a playing field available, which there is at castle Point, children should be encouraged to use that. They should also be respectful of people around them and be taught about other people's personal space.
This site gets full marks from me because the positives well out weigh any little negatives.

Nice site, beautiful scenery and lovely walks. I would stay here again if the site wasn't covered in dog faeces.
The children's' playing field seems to be a dog toilet and three pairs of my daughter's shoes became soiled. I think the wardens need to be clearer about where dogs can relieve themselves. Also, no dogs on the sight seemed to be on the lead. My daughter is scared of dogs (after being attacked a year ago) and we constantly had to be on the lookout. I'm fine with dogs being there - it's just there needs to be clearer rules.

Scott and Lorraine gave us a friendly welcome when we arrived and were quick to give us some information leaflets.
Our front line pitch gave us a lovely view. Later in the week after heavy rain the ground around us became very boggy, but that's Scotland for you!
The toilets and showers were very clean with ample soft toilet paper, soap and hand sanitizer.
Our only criticism is the approach road to the site has many deep potholes which gives you a very bumpy ride.

This is a fantastic site Scott & Lorraine (Site Wardens) were very welcoming and helpful throughout our stay.
The amenities were top class and very clean and the views were to die for.
There are some excellent walks which we appreciated as We took our two scottie dogs who thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
We most certainly will return.

We spent 5 lovely days here on a pitch with a great sea view.
The facilities were spotless, everyone was very friendly and the location of the site is great for walking.
We would really recommend it!
The only little thing that was lacking were recycling facilities.

Had a fab time at castle Point campsite.
Owners so lovely and helpful and the facilities are spotless and cleaned regularly throughout the day.
Showers better than ours at home.
All areas of the site have amazing views and very peaceful and relaxing.
Highly recommend.
