We originally booked a camping site at Tollgate farm (fabulous), but, because of rain we decided to relocate to a static, this was the only caravan we could get.
Fraggle rock was what we expected, noisy, especially at night and till the early morning.
When the fields around us were filling up more and more, because of the 'Unleashed music festival' at Watergate bay, we started to be concerned.
Drum and bass played all night, great if you are 16-22.
We left a day early, needed sleep.
All in all it's obvious what the campsite is like, but the caravan was clean and we only used it for a base.
I think letting the two campsites mingle is a bad idea, my children learnt some new language just by going to the shop! They did think the large groups of drunks hilarious because of this they were not allowed out of our sight for a second.

I have to agree with nearly every review on here Trevelgue is not a place to go if you want a good relaxed family holiday. I was on the pitches behind the pool and every day and night people were trying to get to the 18-30s campsite. This site tries to be both and it just does not work. The shower and toilet blocks were a disgrace. Did not wash for the first 2 days I gave up trying to get in and used the wash up area to clean my teeth. I could keep going but all I shall say is we will never stop here again. The only fair thing I could say is if your kids are young they will enjoy the club.

The staff were fine, until you needed to complain This site is more suited for teenages as they have a 18+ camp site next to the family camp site and caravans. The noise in the evening lasts all night and at 3am the last bus arrives back from Newquay bringing back the party animals. There are not enough toilets or showers and they are not in good condition.

We booked to stay on this site for one week. Ended up being one night due to many factors. 1. Noise. Be expected to be woken up at around 2 - 3am by youths coming back from night clubs, only to carry on playing loud music etc. Not the odd one either. 2. Wind. We can cope with a bit, but we were 'crammed' literally into a field on top of a large hill, which the wind was so intense that one tent was wrapped around a fence. 3. Staff are not friendly. Instead of being greeted with 'hello, how can I help', we were greeted with chewing gum and 'yeah?' 4. Cleanliness. On the field where we were placed there were the blue plastic toilets which blew over in the night. We had a long walk to the toilets on the other half of the site. These toilets had a stream running out of the entrance where they had been flooded and were filthy. I like to give good and bad comments on these review, but I really haven't got anything good to say about this site and hope it acts as a warning that this is not a site for families or people wanting a quiet time.

The pitches are of the poorest standard, there is one watertap and it leaks causing huge muddy puddles, the shower and toilet facilities are inside what can only be resembled as a wooden shack, filthy dirty. I stayed on a plot of land next to the swimming pool, at least it was flat, if your sent to the top field god help you, especialy if your in a tent , its on a steep hill, so if you like the blood rushin to your head go for it.!

I have stayed at the smugglers haven campsite, 3 years in a row, and I don't think it has been given a fair review. The 18-30's part and the family part are divided by a large fence which is locked after 11pm. After this time the 18-30's have to use a separate entrance far removed from the family entrance, obviously designed to cut down on late night noise. The 18-30's campsite, is split between level camping and that on a slope, first come first serve, however I've been on the level camping every time I've camped there. I also stayed in a caravan one year, which was somewhat shabby, and which was also checked before we left to make sure we had cleaned it for the next tenants. There are wardens patrolling the site at night, who have no problem telling you to be quite. The showers and toilets have always been satisfactory to me, clean, but with some grass about, just wear flip flops in the shower, which incidental are around 20p for 10mins, hot water. There are washing up facilities outside the shower area. There is a shop, restaurant and child's play area on site, with a small pool and nightclub across the road, however I never ventured there. A bus runs past the front around every 30 Min's into the centre of newquay, and runs until 3am, saving money on a taxi. The bus ride into newquay will be about 20 Min's, depending on the traffic. The surrounding area is mainly countryside, however about a 15 min walk uphill will take you to a beach.

I have stayed at this site the past three years when attending the Miniworld Riviera Run. I have only ever stayed in a static caravan in the Trevelgue part of the site (as opposed to the Smugglers Haven part) and have never had any problems. We stay in a caravan up on the top and it's really peaceful up there. The vans are well equipped and always clean on arrival.
I don't know what it is like to stay at any other time of the year, but anyone planning to go to the Miniworld Riviera Run should not be put off by the other reviews, as they don't really count during this week (everyone staying both in Trevelgue and Smugglers Haven are mini owners/fans and are just mixed throughout the whole site, rather than one part being 18-30s and the other not).

Be warned! This site is split in 2 - one half is families one half is 18 to 30's. Bad news for all. If your a family dont expect a nice peaceful and quiet holiday. If your 18-30 dont get carried away thinking that you can use all their nice facilities because your not allowed - they are for families only!

Should have stayed here for two weeks but was so disapointed by the amenities, (toliet and shower) and pitches at side of pool we only stayed I week. This site doesn't advertise that it is part as an 18-30 site and is very noisy. Not reccommended for those with small children.

This site was part of an 18-30 camp site. It was very loud through the night with party goers coming back to their tents and caravans waking everyone up. It had a large indoor pool and good entertainment at night for children.
There were no family or baby friendly wash facilities and the showers were luke warm in an old and cold shower block. The camping was on hilly areas and crowded at times. I wouldn't recommend the site for families with young children.
