We found that the pitch was on an incline, the site was looked after and tidy. The elsan & shower facilities could do with being updated. Its a long long walk to the beach so easier to drive and 1. 15 hours away from Tenby. We found that the site was limited for things to do for children. Lovely pint of beer and nice clean club, but no entertainment.
Management response: Our elsan point has been fully refurbished and moved from inside to an outside elsan point, our guests tell us it has made the job much easier and cleaner than before.

Just got back from a great 4 day break here. Drive there not too bad but the SAT NAV takes you down some really small lanes on the approach, would not have liked to have been towing a caravan.
The site was lovely although the lack of a decent shop was a bit disappointing but a 10 minute drive brought you to a local village with everything you need.

Pleasant staff and a choice of where we pitched our tent, not many of us camping though, only 4 others with electric hookup which did trip quite a few times and then a power failure on the Saturday night for about an hour, we were in the clubhouse so stayed warm and had a laugh, we were the only ones with a lamp, where are all you true campers!

Facilities were good, showers fine although no sockets in the block to use a hair dryer! Play area very good and our 6 year old had a lovely time. Spent two days on the beach in New Quay which is a lovely village and recommend a visit. Those with kids must go to 'Folly Farm' we had a fantastic day out and good value for money. We will be putting it on our to visit again list, although for a bit longer next time as it took us 4 hours to get there, bit of a hike for just a couple of days.

Rain all week made this a very soggy site! The tent area has a drainage problem! Entertainment in the club consisted of a girlie singer on Saturday night, then nothing for the rest of the week! In August! In fairness, the manager of the site did all he could, relocating tents on the drier caravan area, playing cds for the kids to dance to in the evening.

There is one toilet/shower block, which, although cleaned daily, soon developed faults (blocked toilets, etc) due to the amount of campers on site.
Management response: As previously mentioned our drainage in the tent field has been upgraded, also the shower building did sometimes develop blocked drains, so we have had our sewage plant upgraded for the 2012 season, we have also replaced collapsed pipes along the way.

What a wonderful site with great value for money, just 1 mile off the dual carriageway this site is well located for cardigan and newquay.

It has a nice clubhouse and small outdoor pool for the kids.

Unfortunately I went when the weather was awful and this meant the tent field was like a mud bath, if you have the weather it would be great.

Toilets are generally clean and with the site mainly static caravans they are hardly used by tourers.

Management were extremely helpful and friendly
Management response: Our main touring field has shingle pitches (all weather pitches) preventing mud around your touring caravan. The toilet/ shower building has swipe card access for touring / camping customers only.

We were persuaded by friends to go here, mainly because everywhere else was booked up.   Many of the problems we encountered earlier in the season have been sorted.

Friends followed TomTom to this site, and their caravan is now sporting an extra stripe down one side!.

We has a larger pitch this time and the site electrics have been sorted out.   Due the horrendous summer we have has the ground was very wet, and on reversing the van back onto the pitch, it sank to it's axles (luck I have a 4x4).   However Kev was quick to the rescue with some sheets of plywood to reverse onto.

Toilet block was very kept spotlessly clean for the entire Bank Holiday Weekend even though the site was full to bursting.
Access to the toilets was available at all hours over the weekend, no problems with locks.
We found the dog walk but it resembles an army assault course, so our four legged friends were still walked along the country lanes.

Our previous experience has now been put down to early season teething problems.
Management response: Our dog walking area has been opened up and has a dedicated field for your K9 friends.

Well signed. Easy to find. DON'T use SATNAV. Pleasant well laid out site. Lot of statics in small groups, all areas surrounded by high hedges and mature trees.

2 TOURING FIELDS have Laundrette/Washing up sinks/ Toilet emptying point. Fair sized pitches, All grass with 6 amp hookups. Grass is kept regularly mown and VERY peg friendly.

MAIN AMENITIES, central, a 2 minute stroll away are.

TOILET BLOCK (locks operated by cards issued at check in time) 4 showers 4 loos 3 basins for males.
same number for females.
Laundrette and Payphone.

POOL AND PATIO AREA. Good pool, loungers, chairs, tables and parasols provided free of charge.

CLUBHOUSE Comfortably furnished. Provides a good range of drinks and a limited range of tasty meals(which can be packed to takeaway)at pub prices. Some entertainment also (but this is free. ). Children are. Welcome.

OUR STAY Very relaxing. Card Locks worked correctly. Hookup supplied power with NO TRIP-OUTS. Constant hot water. All loos and facilities cleaned regularly(no queues)

Not a noisy site. Virtually silent after 11. 30 pm.

Plenty of beaches and lots 2 do/see in the area.

SHOPPING. Small range of essentials on site. Garage at Tany groes crossroads a mile away sells most things. Newcastle Emlyn is a small town 5 miles away and Cardigan(Biggish town with a Tesco) is 10.

FUEL Tesco sells unleaded and diesel at 97. 9p ltr. This price is the same as most garages throughout this part of Wales. (including the one a mile from the site. )

GENERAL. Levelling Blocks essential. Universal sink plug useful ( Kev's go walkies, chain and all, as soon as he replaces them) On site Mobile Phone use depends on the Sim Card. Orange or Vodaphone no problem. Virgin erratic. O2 Tesco or others. DEAD no signal.

Our first visit. Had a great time. Our thanks to Kev, Maqgs and everyone at Pilbach. We'll Be Back

Not a bad site, but certainly far from being a good one.
Do not follow TomTom to this site, the route is wholly unsuitable for towing.

Pitches are on the small side with a very temperamental electric hook up supply. This has not improved since our last visit 3 years ago. All pitches are also sloping or undulating, so do not leave home without your levelling blocks.

Toilet block was very modern, but unfortunately remained un-cleaned for the entire Bank Holiday Weekend. Luckily the site was not too busy and people were sensible and considerate in their use.

Reception was not open all over the weekend so getting any niggles sorted (ie frequently tripping electrics) was a bit of a hurdle.
On arrival we were told that the locks on the toilet blocks were not working so access cards were not required. Fine until you go to use the toilets and find them locked, so cross legged you have to trapse the site looking for someone to issue you with a card.

Outdoor pool, club house and arcade all adequate for a site of this size, and noise pollution was not a problem.

There is no dog walk on or near the site and our four legged friends are to be walked along the country lanes.

Site is very handy for the beaches or Aberporth and Llangranog, and the surrounding area is fantastic. The nearest supermarket is in Cardigan, some 6 miles away.
Management response: Our pitches have been resized when we put in all weather pitches, they are roughly 25feet square, accommodating a touring caravan plus awning and a car, the swipe card system is new for 2012 and remains locked until swiped, the toilets are cleaned every hour. The main office and shop are open each day from 9am – 6pm (high season) and 10am – 4pm (low season) however we have an on site warden 24/7 outside of these hours.

We have just returned from a week in this part of Wales (our 3rd visit), and it was the first time we had stayed at this particular park.   Despite the crappy weather(!), we had a fab holiday and didn't run out of things to do.

The site was quiet and peaceful at night but with plenty of kids of all ages milling around the pool, play area and riding their bikes etc.   Our two (7 & and 10), made loads of friends!

The showers were modern, clean and tidy and none of us ever queued to use them.   The washing up area was inside a hut with the laundry room and was a stones throw from our caravan.   The owners seemed genuinely nice people and worked really hard.

There are a lot of seasonal tourers there which is usually a good indicator of how popular a site is and it is ideally placed for visiting the beautiful beaches at Mwnt, LLangrannog, Aberporth and Penbryn and Tresaith.

If you haven't been to this part of Wales before we would definitely recommend this site and if you do venture to Mwnt I hope you will be as lucky as we have been in seeing dolphins and seals really close up whilst we were fishing - it was an amazing experience and beats PSP's etc anyday!

Fourth year running back to this site it's absolutely beautiful and the kids love it the staff are lovely and will go that extra mile to help you , our dog came with us and we weren't made to feel like aliens because we had the dog,he is very well behaved I may add! All in all I'd recommend this site to anyone.

Date of Visit: April 2006 Unit:  Trailer Tent

We did not arrive at Pilbach in the best of circumstances, we arrived on the back of an RAC recovery vehicle, in the dark, (I think there may have been rain too), with a 20 month old toddler and a 15 year old teenager, and a trailer tent that we had never put up before.

Kevin came a greeted us and directed us to our pitch, which the recovery vehicle then got bogged down in and had to be towed out - by our hero - Kev.

We pitched the cabin, with the help of some of our camping/caravanning neighbors and then went to bed.

The next morning revealed the full glory of the site, it is very well laid out, with fabulous facilities, the shower and toilet block is a short walk from the touring field, and is like walking into your own bathroom. It is beautifully tiled, clean with free hot showers and places to hang your clothes on the back of the doors, which is then protected by a shower curtain (as I said well thought and laid out).

There is a public phone and an indoor games room in the main building. Unfortunately, the games are mainly electronic but it is indoors should the weather turn and it is clean and under constant watch by CCTV, so if you sit in the bar and position yourselves right it is possible to see what the kids are up to. The clubhouse bar is friendly, and well presented, prices are on a par with pub prices, so you don't feel like you are being fleeced. The food is fabulous, we had the most lovely lamb shanks in onion gravy on our last night. They have quiz nights and had an Easter egg hunt for the kids on Easter Sunday. The pool wasn't in operation, but it is in a sheltered, sunny position, near the clubhouse, and should be open for Whitsun.

The laundrette was well equipped, (two washers and two dryers) it was clean and had two washing up sinks with hot and cold water. There were two elsan points in the laundrette block, which is right next to the touring fields. There were two taps and one in the top field. There were plenty of rubbish bins, which were emptied regularly.

There is a play area for the smaller kids, which has new play equipment, some of which was still to be completed, but the area is well cared for and there are a lot of bark chippings underfoot.

The whole site seems to have undergone a massive refurbishment programme, and some of it is still in progress, but nothing major and nothing that will stop your enjoyment.

Some of the pitches are sloping and some are flat, there is a field of 40 pitches with electric hook up and a further field with some hook up pitches and some without, there is also a ball play area with goal posts. There are also static caravans on site and there is also the facility for leaving your caravan for the season for a fee (of course!)

The bottom field has the center pitches fenced/marked out and they are plenty big enough for a large caravan and awning. The site does appear to get a big boggy if it has been raining for a long time (weeks) and some of the pitches were not really dry enough to camp on, but Kev directed people away from those. The site is NOT stony and is easy to peg into, and is sheltered as it is in a valley.

The surrounding area is a bit of a mystery to us, as we were unable to leave the site as our car was disabled. The local garages were shut because of the bank holiday. Should you need it there is a large breakers yard in Tanygroes and Kev was kind enough to drive my husband up there to get the required part.

All in all this is a lovely site run by Kev and his family, who are all extremely helpful and friendly. The food in the clubhouse is excellent and is cooked to perfection by Kev's wife.

I can't recommend this site enough, it is one of the best that I have been to in nearly 35 years of camping. We will be going back - watch out Kev (we WILL make sure the car is better serviced next time I promise)
