Have just spent 4 nights at this little gem of a site! I agree with all comments written so far. It really is a lovely spot! Sue is very friendly. My kids loved her & she made us feel very welcome!
Kids enjoyed the fairy garden & Sue's many stories of trolls & goblins.Which are all true! and the baby ducks!
Ideally situated for Snowdon & local beaches. We will go back very soon. It's a bargain! Highly recommended!

Excellent site all round, we arrived at 8:30 pm and were greeted by Sue and assisted to our level pitch. The kids enjoyed the freedom of riding their bikes around the circuit.
Lovely views and ideally situated for Caernarfon Bangor and Llanberis. Perfect for the 'fresh air' families who love to go walking and climbing in Snowdonia.
The toilets and showers were sparkling clean.
£18 per night for Caravan, Awning, hook up 2 adults and 2 kids, excellent value. We'll be back.

Our family found Challoner Campsite quite by accident about 5 years ago and haven't been anywhere else since! It is ideal for the family with the children being able to ride their bikes around safely, a shop on site, friendly and helpful owners and fairies that reply to any letters left at the wishing well (with two young girls we now have quite a collection!).
The site is located in the heart of Snowdonia and is central to all of the attractions there. It is a 5 minute drive to Greenwood Forest Park, Caernarfon and Llanberis.
There is a spectacular view of Snowdon from the site (still snow-covered on the top during this holiday) and the walking in the area is excellent.
We would recommend this site to anyone. Thanks Sue xx

Ignore the rather tatty farm entrance to this gem of a site and carry on to the large open field. Very friendly lady was waiting for us in the pouring rain to tell us where to go.
There are hardstandings, hook ups and plenty of room for all types of unit.No motorhome waste point but all the other facilities for servicing your unit.
The showers are clean but cost an eye watering £1 for 10 mins.
Cost £12 a night which is very reasonable and easily makes up for the shower charge.
This site is central for lots of places around North Wales and we would definitely go there again

This is a great little site with a large figure of 8 field for tents & tourers & 2 other fields for statics & seasonal tourers.
The facilities are new & although they have a few rough edges are perfectly adequate.
There is a wildlife pasture with a bird hide in the next field but dogs arent allowed in here.
Around the site are various ruins & old buildings the scale of the stones has to be seen to be believed.
Out of the site & turn left there is a small village with a shop & post office also a pub that does food but I recommend turn left at the PO & go to the pub at the bottom of the hill, the sunday dinner is brilliant.
The site sells duck eggs & Sue is the site entertainment on her own, a lovely & very funny woman but she is also a mine of information about the area too.
There is an Indian restaurant that does take aways just down the road, didn't try it but there was always cars coming & going.
Fabulous views from the site with Snowdon just down the road.
We only booked here at the last minute & were really pleased with the site, this is one we will definitely return to.

Very pleasant stay here, despite appalling weather! Site well kept and well drained; topsoil a little on the thin side but perfectly adequate. Location gives reasonable views of Snowdonia; shops and a good pub are a mile away on the far side of Llanrug. Local indian takeway is good too, but beware their description of a curry as 'fairly hot'. That's like describing the Arctic as 'mildly chilly'!
Very clean, spacious facilities also - though could use larger washing-up facilities. The best thing was the quiet in the evenings; no midnight parties or screaming kids! A little road noise, but that's it.
Overall - nice site, run by nice people for nice people. Thoroughly recommended.

This is the second time we have visited the site.
The toilets are clean and tidy and cleaned on a daily basis.Showers are nice and hot.
When you arrive on site you are greeted with a smile from sue.
2 adult 2 brats 1 dog (bobby) awning and huck up for 7 nights I had change out of 100 pounds and I was happy.
Sue has a little shop selling milk, eggs, and toilet chemical plus the odd nic nac.
There is a wishing well with fairys round it ,(for the kids of course)they tell me you can write to the fairys and they reply over night!
OVERALL WELL WORTH THE VISIT

Went here for bank holiday weekend stayed 4 nights.
The actual site is basic but nicely laid out, well drained especially as we had a great deal of rain and made especially pleasant by the lovely lady who runs it.The children follow her like the pied piper as she tells them stories of fairies and the like that live on the farm.
The site is cheap even with electric hook up with the only downside being you have to pay £1 for a 10 minute shower.(this is however the only slight niggle we had with it).New shower and toilet block still in throws of decoration but kept clean throughout.
We were made to feel genuinely welcome during our visit and will certainly be returning

May 2005 I have used this site for the last two years in 'all' weather and it really does take some beating. Sue and her family go out of their way to make you feel at home. There are plans afoot to build a new toilet/shower/laundry block and convert the two cottages into cosy accomodation. Hopefully all this will be done ready for next spring. Winter opening is now being investigated and eventually there are plans to offer accomodation in a number of new statics. The shop is going to also be developed to offer a range of camping/caravaning neccesities and accesories.
The site is ideally suited for easy shopping in historic Caernarfon and for those who love walking, cycling, fishing or long walks along some of the best beaches in the country access could not be easier. For families it is an ideal site as children are very welcomed by Sue and are encouraged to take an interest in the farm animals and the wildlife.

August 2004 A friendly little family run camp site.
All caravan pitches have hard standing with smooth access roads to them. Most with electric hook up.
Ample fresh water is available from taps situated around the perimiter of the field.
The site is situated on a hill with the upper part of the field being the flatest, but even the steepest parts dont need any extra leveling equipment as the pitches are well with in the range of most caravan stabilisers.
Tents! There is plenty of space for campers as well as caravaners. The tent pitches are situated around the middle of the field, fairly level with plenty of space per pitch for cars trailers etc. Infact there are no pitches marked as such, you just set up using as much space as you need!
Also served by the smooth access roads, theres no skidding you car into your tent after one of those Welsh "showers". Sue the owner has even been known to move one of her own caravans to make space for a tent to access the mains hookup! The only problem I found with the our tent is the lower part of the field there's about 4 inches of top soil then solid rock!! So take a sturdy mallet and decent pegs!
Toilet, washing facilities, Showers, all basic but perfectly serviceable, and CLEAN!!
A small on site shop supplies those emergency items like milk etc. plus a nice range of gift ideas and free ice block freezing.
The village (Llanrug) has chip shops, pubs and a spar etc, for the other items you may need.
Turn right out of the site and Canarfon is just down the road with all the high street stores to hand and that wonderful castle. Turn left and you hit Llanberis with attractions like the Snowdon mountain railway and Electric Mountain, (You wont believe there's a hydro electric power station there till you take the tour, Highly recommended) and of course the fantastic Snowdonia national park.
My Family, the 2 dogs and I have visited this site 3 times now in 3 years. 0nce in a caravan and twice in tents. Next year will be our fourth visit! (already Booked)!!
To sum up! If your not interested in clubhouses and arn't worried about the kids dissapearing off with the owner on chicken hunts!! :-) then this is the site for you!
8 nights with 3 adults, 4 kids, 2 St.Bernards, 3 tents, 1 with mains electric, 2 cars and a camping trailer! All for under £100 We love it to bits!
