I have been staying at Whittlebury campsite for various race meeting at Silverstone for ten years.
Set in a beautiful location with stunning views across the lake and watching the sunset in the evening is amazing.
I agree some more basic maintenance wouldn`t go a miss. A severe lack of showers on site. Plus the toilets could be kept a lot cleaner.
It would be nice if the music stopped a little earlier.
I will try another site this year for the Silverstone Classic.

We stayed here for the Renault World Series event. The site is huge and set in very pleasant countryside only a short walk from Silverstone Circuit.
The weekend we stayed it was extremely busy and very noisy, which may be down to that particular event. The staff were really friendly and helpful upon arrival despite having to deal with large numbers in the heat. I have to say the rowdy atmosphere on the site wasn't to our taste. The toilet facilities were really smelly portaloos which were best avoided if possible. The showers were actually quite nice even though they were of a portable variety.
A lot of the site is quite sloping which caused some issues for caravanner's. I wouldn't advise camping next to the gravel tracks as the dust thrown up by passing cars was quite bad.

Had a fantastic time at whittlebury, Grand Prix 2009. Stayed in the Kennel part of the site, which was on a slight incline. The warden helped immensely as to parking the van in the spot when it was pitch black.
Entertainment was excellent in the beer tent, which was laid on by the site.
The hotel where some of the drivers stayed was 100 yards away, which was well worth a visit at night as to getting autographs and photos. Toilet were OK. Shower was hot/cold, probably due to the number of people using them. Excellent place for Silverstone. Will book again for next year, if the British Grand Prix is held here. 9/10. Knocked a point off for the price £140 for Tuesday to Monday regardless of what day you come on.

Brilliant site for F1
Friendly staff who guided us to our pitch, pity they did not point out where the showers where
Toilets dated but kept fairly clean
Showers, we could only find six, no hot water.
For the price paid and the amount of people on site nowhere near adequate

Brilliant spot for Grand Prix and other race meetings. Stayed for Britcar event and was quiet busy as Hovercraft race meeting also occurring. As previous reviewers suggest, toilet facilities a little tired but the Friendly staff more than made up for it. We stayed in the Paddock field which is the flatest from what we could make out.
We are returning for 2009 Grand prix and are staying at the Pavillion/Atrium end of the campsite which we sussed out is far superior but only open for the GP. Cant wait!

We have just stayed at this site for 5 nights which included the grand prix weekend.
As other reviews mention this site mainly caters for this event.
On the plus side the staff were just great and its only 10 mins walk to the copse entrance at gate 5.
We booked this last minute so our pitch was on a far flung corner of the site which was fine as it was nearer to the race track.
All we had in the field we were in was a block of chemical toilets which were kept in surprisingly good condition considering the amount of people on site. There was a drinking water supply not too far away.
On the minus side it was a ten minute walk to the shower block and only six showers!
The showers worked but that is the only plus point.
A bit of basic maintenance wouldn't go amiss.
Apart from that I would recommend this site for anyone going to an event at Silverstone.

Having decided on a last minute bank holiday camping trip with out new Hartford XL, we were struggling to find a site that was within an hour's drive of us and that wasn't fully booked. However, I left a message with Whittlebury Park on Thursday night and they called me back at 9am the next morning to say they had loads of space and the cost was £35 for Fri / Sat / Sun or £25 for Sat / Sun. No need to book - just turn up, which we did on Friday afternoon. From what we can gather, this campsite only seems to open when there are race meetings at Silverstone and caters mainly for people attending these, hence the limited facilities. That said, we weren't attending the races and for two nights thought this was a great site. The pitches were not marked out and we were told to pitch anywhere we liked, so we had plenty of room for the Harford XL plus canopy. Our pitch was overlooking a lake and hills in the distance . Very pleasant. The toilet block was a bit of a schlep, but it had plenty of hot water, free showers and free hairdryers. Next to the lake where we were, were 6 chemical toilets which served perfectly fine. There was no official washing up area, but the lady told me it was fine to wash up in the sinks in the shower block, which I did. There was a bar on site serving food, but we didn't check this out. All in all, thought this was a cracking site. Very relaxed and laid back and a nice spot about 6 miles from Towcester. Very reasonable rate too. Only drawback I would say for some would be the constant hum of racing cars from the racetrack during the day (9am - 7pm) - but when you're booking next to Silverstone what do you expect!

Highly recommended to all ! I have attended this site for 2 Grand prix with nothing but praise for the running of a fantastic site! This will be my 3rd and hope better still, I have passed the site on to others who in turn have also kept to the same fantastic site in throwing distance of silverstone.

I stayed this site for the British Superbike weekend at Silverstone circuit. This site is well maintained and clean and is close to the circuit, being a 15 minute walk through woodland. Although campers are given the rules of the site on arrival, sadly these are not enforced, meaning the inconsiderate campers can, set off fireworks, make as much noise as they want all night, have open fires next to the tents. If you want to party all night, then this is the site for you, if you want to sleep at night without the worry of a stray firework or spark from a campfire setting your tent alight, my suggestion is to find a better managed site. Obviously I cannot comment on the running of the site on non race weekends.

2002 Whittlebury Park is a country club with an excellent golf course set in 600 acres of pictureque parkland. It is right next to Silverstone racing circuit which can be reached by a pleasant walk through a wood. The campsites are in several fields around one of the many lakes. The location and scenery are outstanding. There is a bar and the country club facilities which include a restaurant are available to campers. The showers and toilets are a little basic but clean and adequate.
