Spent three nights at Coed Helen. I must admit I liked the site. I do have to agree with some of the points made ie.
- Due to heavy rain, certain pitches had surface water (although it did drain quite quickly when the rain stopped)
- Certain areas of the site were sloping and some caravans had their jockey wheels off the floor.
Having said that I would definitely visit again, it was a popular site, facilities were fine, the warden was very helpful. The toilet block (although fairly basic) was clean and showers were good.
No play area for children, other than a patch of grass at one end of the site.
There is a bar and outdoor heated swimming pool on the adjoining Haulfryn static site, which you are welcome to use.
The site is well located for access to Caernarfon, with beaches and mountains on your doorstep.

Visited this site end of August bank holiday weekend. If you are used to the comforts of caravan club sites and facilities then I would forget it. This site is not even close to the standard that the caravan club is known for. There are better rallies than this site! The site is basically a bumpy sloping field with electric hook up. We managed to get one of the 2 hard standing pitches but they where on that much of a slope we had several blocks under the front and the back end of the van was almost toughing the ground. The weather was wet 2 of the 4 days we where there and the grass pitches where very badly drained so most of the awnings where very wet.
The toilets are porta cabins with a bit of lipstick on to make them look nice however they where clean.
The Warden was very helpful but you could only feel sorry for them because they were doing their best with the site.
The site is the end field of a static site within walking distance of the castle and the small town which is very nice.

Lovely site, toilet block/showers clean. Staff very helpful.
Not very impressed with the on site pub, beer not as good as it could have been so we went into town.
Black Boy served good food but avoid the chips unless you like them soggy!
Wetherspoons is best avoided - very dodgy characters in there!
We swam in the outdoor pool during the adults only section and loved it - nice and warm with lovely views.
Good proximity to the town centre/harbour/castle. Would use this site again.
Site is within a static park but it is very quiet given the size as the C.C. Site is a distance from the on site pub.

Very nice campsite with lovely views. We arrived at 1.15pm but the office was closed from 1.00 - 4.00pm. So we just parked on one of the hardstanding pitch which was on a bit of a slope. We had to use the levellers. Although it was a Caravan Club site and you could choose your pitch, because we arrived on a Thursday there were not many pitches to choose from. The site was fully booked. There is an outdoor heated pool over in the static area where the children had a lovely swim and we sunbathed til it was time to go back to book ourselves in. The wardens were very helpful and friendly. Toilets/shower rooms very clean and you will need a key to get in. There is only one sink for dishwashing and another for veg preparation. Laundry facilities available £2.00 for 25 mins and £1.00 for 40 mins for tumble dryer. There is an ice cream van that comes in the evening whilst we were there. Caernarforn Castle is well worth a visit and we took the steam train by the castle to Rhyd-Dhu. We went to Betsy-Coed on the A4086 and although at certain parts, the roads were a bit narrow and windy, the views along the Llanberris Pass were breathtaking. You are in the middle of slate mountains. We went over to Anglesey to see the town with the longest name. The beaches near Porth Trecastell in Anglesey were beautiful. All in all a lovely holiday.

Faultless campsite, with very friendly wardens and clean and spotless toilets. Perfect location for touring Snowdon and surrounding area. With less than 10 minutes walk into Caernarfon, the castle is well worth a good look around. There are many many pubs in the town, but with the exception of the Black Boy, the Ship and the Castle and the Wetherspoons, enter them at your own risk. Say no more. Caernarfon is a lovely town, steeped in history, but sadly neglected. Many boarded and derelict buildings were quite unsightly and in need of tlc.

8 day stay June and July 07, Touring caravan two adults. Directions to the site were very clear and easy to follow. On arrival we were met by Ian and Lynn who were extremely helpful in siting our van where we wanted it. Our pitch was perfectly level however some on the top side are quite sloping. The facilities around the site are very good and kept extremely well by our hosts who worked tirelessly to keep everything neat, tidy and very clean. The toilet block although prefabricated is spotless, roomy, warm with plenty of hot water all the time. The weather as always is and was unpredictable in Caernarfon so wellies and kagools are a must. Lovely walks, just 10 minutes into town via the Castle bridge. Good pubs, the Anglesey is the handiest serving good beer and food. Calleys cafe is basic but friendly, clean and very reasonable for the good fare they offer. What more can we say other than we shall certainly be returning regularly.

We have just returned from a 5-night stay at this site (with our Folding Camper, 3 children + dog). When we arrived we were greeted by the wardens and were asked to choose a pitch. It's a fairly small site, but with wonderful views. Some of the pitches (including the couple of hardstandings) are sloping and we saw some precariously perched caravans. I suggest you ask when you book for a pitch on the 'field-side' which is flat. Some of the earlier reviews regarding the facilities being in a Portakabin made me a little anxious - but needn't have, as they are barely recognisable as being Portakabins - they are spotlessly clean, with lots of hot water and fresh flowers. You obtain a key on arrival which ensures only touring park residents can use the facilities. We did have one day of absolutely TORRENTIAL rain/hailstones (yes, in June!). Within minutes the breathable groundsheet in the awning was under water (thankfully we didn't have anything on the floor that would get soaked) but in the campsites defense it really was a flash-flood and yet it drained away quickly. Within a couple of hours our groundsheet was dry again. The office/shop does sell a few things, but these are mainly limited to sweets, eggs, ice-creams etc. You can order your daily paper for an additional 5p delivery. There are several great walks - one down the single-lane road from the site down to the harbour/castle in Caernarfon. If you continue along the harbour wall (and don't cross the bridge over to the castle), you can walk alongside the Menai Strait for a few hundred yards (or more if you wish!). Just after the football pitch, there is a little swing-gate with a narrow path which leads up to the site (it brings you out in the static caravan part of the site). Note: this path is NOT suitable for pushchairs or the disabled. The site also has a kids play area but this is away from the touring area - in the main static park adjacent. There is also a heated outdoor pool which our kids loved, and also a bar with table-games. Again, these are located on the static-side of the park. We thouroughly enjoyed our stay here - visiting the Dinorwig Electric Mountain Hydro Electric Power Station and the Snowdon Mountain Railway (both in Llanberis, a 20 min drive away). Caernarfon Castle of course is just at the bottom of the hill! There is a large Tesco a few minutes drive away and also a large Morrissons. We can't wait to go back!

Small site virtually full when we arrived on spec at 3pm in the afternoon. Suspect in high season pre-booking is advisable for this which is site within easy walking distance of Caernarfon. Site was very tidy, with good facilities. Toilets / Showers very clean with disability access ramp. TV reception OK on BBC, BBC2 & SC4 but poor on ITV. Staff very helpful and on hand when needed. Will use this site again, highly recommend.

We visited this site with relatives who also had a touring caravan. We found this site to be really peaceful and quiet, the toilet and shower block is a portacabin but I can honestly say it was spotlessly clean and warm.
There is a children's play area but that was too far away from the touring area to allow our children to go without us, they could however play with a soft ball further along the field we were pitched on which helped.
The surrounding area is beautiful and we made sure we made the most of it. We went to a local Slate Mine and the children were fascinated with the caverns and having a ride on the underground train. We also went to the magnificent Caernarfon Castle, well worth a visit, a beautiful castle with lots of winding staircases to tire everyone out!
There is a large supermarket very close by and petrol station.
We really enjoyed this site and area and will definitely visit again, a lovely place to stay with plenty to see and do.

The site is what appears to be a former cattle / horse paddock with a single u road to each peg. It is adjacent to a large static site and is only a 5-10 min walk down to thw Menai Strights or into Caernarfon. The site is managed by the CC and this I suspect is why there are only two hard standings where you will need blocks for your front feet and jockey wheel. I also suspect its owned by the static site and thus a lack of any real investment by the CC. The toilet/shower block is a sort of portacabin but servers all your needs with plenty of hot water etc. If you fancy a drink, the berr in Caernarfon is an average £2.30 a pint with the cheapest, £1.59 for REAL ALE, and a good meal to be had at the local Weatherspoons, Tan Y Farn. If you don't mind being on grass withe a little mud when the weather is realy bad then this site is ok especially for touring and walking in Snowdonia. For people with dogs, you will need to use the lane or the nearby wood which has steep paths, not reccomended at night. All in all, its a popular site with a narrow approach road with passing places that is just OK.
