Wouldn't have been my first choice but it was Bank Holiday weekend and I hadn't booked anywhere.
Gentleman on reception was very friendly and confirmed they had plenty of space and had a choice of three fields to pitch my small 3 man tent. I choose the front field, which I later discovered had been booked for a rally by the Land rovers owners club! Felt a bit uncomfortable but they said as long as I didn't mind then neither did they so I stayed put. Although other posters have said they found this site reasonable, at £15 for a small 3 man tent with just me and my son I thought it was very expensive.
Showers and toilets weren't particularly clean but as we were only staying one night it wasn't too much of an issue.
Scenery was absolutely stunning and certainly an area we will be visiting again.

We have been visiting this site for many years and it has never let us down. Great facilities and very good staff and best of all it is very dog friendly. We are looking forward to this Easter which will the first of a few this year.
We will also be using it in august when Lancashire rescue bears hold their newfoundland dog water test on lake Bala.
The dogs also love to swim in the river on site which is lovely and clean and the path down to the river is well maintained as is the site itself with flower pots and baskets adding to the summer scenery.

Went to this site for the first time this weekend, having been recommended. On arrival the staff were very helpful. Good pitch size, nice park area and lots of space to play ball games. Showers fairly clean, nice and hot, toilets again fairly clean, but found the light sensors in toilet not set long enough Surrounding area very nice, beautiful views would go back

Finally got to go back to this site as our last visit was in 1996-97. Not a lot changed still cheap and cheerful. A quiet peaceful ideal place for a weekend to unwind.
We visited on a wet weekend in august but made our own entertainment. There were 6 adults and 4 kids in our party. Kids loved running around on the field. We could see them at all times which was reassuring.Shower block much improved since we last visited although could do with cleaning a bit more often. We didnt see a cleaner the whole 4 days we were there !
Laundry was a let down, kids got filthy and muddy so off we went to wash and dry clothes. Drier ate £1's like they were going out of fashion.
Would go back for a long weekend, close to Bala town which is ok for spar and a chip shop. Not a lot else there.
Surrounded by lovely views, take a hike up the hill - its worth it when you get to the top.

Just arrived home from an enjoyable weekend at this site. The site was clean with that homely friendly feeling. The Childrens play area is ideally sited in the centre of the field, so you can always keep an eye on the kids.
I didn't need to use the games room but it would have been useful if the weather had been bad.
Brian the chap who we met upon arrival was very friendly , which made us feel at home instantly.
The site prices are affordable and it is about one and a half miles to two miles into the Town, we drove !
We will be visiting Bala again for sure and can recommend this site for the whole family as it is not commercialised as many sites are these days ,There are local walks ,fishing in the river ,pubs in the town ,shops in the high street and a huge lake for various water sports.

Great site, many improvements since we last visited almost 10 years ago. Pitched our tent on the back wall when our friends arrived they pitched directly in front of us with no complaints from anyone else. Kids loved the play area, we could just let them play without worrying as we could see exactly where they were - which is a god send. Rained part of the time we were there so we needed to use the washing facilities, washer is brill but the dryer isnt up to much. £1 per 45 minutes but needs more than one cycle to dry clothes. Only 1 complaint the showers and toilet areas weren't cleaned in the whole of the 5 days we were there ! Maybe an idea for improvements for next season ??! Will definitely go again maybe this year or next.

This is the best site we have been to so far! We have been avid campers for 3 years and this September we upgraded to a Trailer tent with electric. The ground was superbly maintained, with every mod con on site. The toilets had their own toilet roll so you didn't have to carry your own around. The Showers were free, lovely and hot and clean. There is a launderette and a washing up room with hot water. The children loved the adventure playground situated in the middle of the camping field, so did we because it provided peace whilst we cooked our meals. We would definitely visit this site again next year ! Looking forward to it already!

Just had to put a review in about this site, as the last one was in 2002. Went this weekend an still found it to be as pleasant, cheap an as clean as they said in the last review. Prices are £8 a night for me my partner the dog an a six man tent (Diablo 600- not too strict on the size). This price includes EHU! The views were fabulous and we will be returning ASAP.
Be aware the road down to the site is a little narrow. Can`t comment on BALA as we didn`t visit but it`s only a 2-3 mile drive or walk. Wonderful site an would highly recomend it if your after a quiet and peaceful weekend (take some insect repellant as there is the occasional biter, but there`s really not that many)

August 2002 It has to be said if there's a campsite worth mentioning its this one.very friendly reception, facilities were spotless clean, toilets with showers(no extra charge),disabled area, washing up area, laundry(normal charge),kids play area. There were two campfields the first one (we pitched in)was flat, the second has hookups for caravans. Some great walks nearby,Bala approx. 3 miles away.we were charged £7.50 per night for a tent, these could change with season. We would have no hesitation on returning.john &terry

A great site with friendly, helpful owner. Site was beautiful and quiet, immaculately clean and reasonably priced at £14.00 for 3 adults, 2 dogs in a motorhome with electric hookup. A children's play area was situated in the centre of the touring field, easily visible from most parts of the field. The toilets, showers and wash basins looked as if they had just been cleaned each time we went to use them. Although it rained quite heavily whilst we were there the ground was well drained and didn't "puddle" as so many sites do. We were touring so took everything we needed with us so didn't need to find food whilst staying at the site, Bala is only 2 or 3 miles up the road and that seemed to be the nearest place to buy provisions. The dogs loved the miles of countryside we had to walk in, we were only sorry that it rained so much we couldn't get as far as the river, will do that next time. We will certainly visit when we return to Wales later in the Year.
