A really wonderful campsite. The toilets and shower and sinks were all spotlessly clean and the host and hostess were very friendly.
We went with two four year olds and they were very entertained by the collection of animals.
There were rabbit, ducks, doves and chickens. The breakfast, cooked by our hosts was really delicious and mostly organic.
The surrounding countryside is beautiful, although flatter and more farmed than the west of Scotland, and we had a great walk around.
The river Ythan is nearby and we have seen otters there in the past. There are no shops in Ythanbank and no pubs.

We stayed at this peaceful campsite for four nights with our two children. It only has five pitches and for the first two nights we had the whole place to ourselves. The whole area was silent, no traffic noise or anything. There is a proper shower room and toilet to use. Although when the site got busier we did have to wait to use the toilet while people had their shower it was worth it for a proper bathroom.
The owners make fresh bread and breakfast brought either to your tent or to eat in the courtyard which was great if expensive.
There wasn't a play area or anything like that for the children to do but the daughter of the campsite owner took our son to show him the ducks and chickens and there was plenty of space for the children to run about so it should be great when they are a bit older. They loved looking at the cows in the neighbouring field.
I think that this is our favourite campsite so far.
We will be using this campsite again.

What a find, people and site are fantastic, very friendly and welcoming. I was visiting friends in the area and it was great to find a campsite within minutes of their house. Nice level site with only a few visitors to enjoy the ponies, ducks and chickens. The owners offer a breakfast facility when they will bring bacon sandwiches to your tent in the morning. Just wish we had been organised enough to take advantage of this. We will certainly be back.

april 2003 I recently found this site whilst in the area. It is in a delightful area , and Mr. and Mrs. Wright are very welcoming. The site is well located for touring the many historic castles and ancient monuments of the north east of Scotland.
