August 2004 On the outset the camp site looked nice and peaceful. The lady who booked us in seemed friendly. As with a lot of sites the tents are at the bottom of the furthest field away from all the facilities. The closest being the caravans, which had there own toilets anyway.
The site web page tells you how nice the site is and the road it is near, what it doesn't tell you is how much large traffic uses the road day and night. After paying what I think was inflated prices you then had to pay for hot water, not just for showers, but for the pot wash the lot. After paying for your shower you then couldn't stand under it as it was scalding hot!
I think its not the best site I've been to and I won't be going again.

We've stayed on a few sites for our holidays over the past 5 years and although netherdale is much smaller and more basic, i have to say, it is absolutely fantastic..we ended up siting for the whole year and have done the same for this year too. The site is made up of 2 thirds static caravans and a third for tents and tourers.. the play area, while small, is very safe and all cars are banned from entering anywhere the kids play.. The site is kept spotlessly clean and the owners are extremely friendly.. vernon, is a bubbly chap who is even chuckling first thing in the morning, while all you want to do is crawl into a hole and hide..lol. A very laid back site and no parking in rows.. the owners like to see a proper camping atmosphere .. They dont charge extra for dogs and the shower/toilet block is small and clean.. The whole of the park is set amongst trees and shrubs surrounded by hills for miles.. The site also has its personal touch with a newsletter for all the static caravans, us included.. Just the latest news and welcoming new long stayers like ourselves.. Again written in Vernons very bubbly style..and has had us in stitches with his style of writing. Next door to the site is a lovely pub/restaurant/hotel.. the Sidcot Arms.. a well maintained place set well back off the road, looks kind of like a small manor house.. There isnt a shop on site but there is a well stocked garage just a short walk away, which is a rather nice stroll overlooking the valleys.. And a chip shop is a 5 minute car ride away, as is a grocery shop and chinese take away and pub .. Nearest beach is 8 miles away.. Burnham on Sea, Brean Sands, berrow and Weston Super Mare all just half an hour away from the site.. Around the site are many nature walks all through the quantock and tarnock hills. Spaces for electric hookup are limited as there are only 12 hookup points...
If you dont mind a basic site and love nature and a safe place for kids, I am sure you cant go wrong with Netherdale.
