This site has spectacular views and has a shallow brook running through it, which is ideal for children to paddle in.

The field is large will ample space between vans, a good sized grass area in middle, where children can play safely. The shop on site is small and but sells most basic items. The one thing that did let the site down though, were the shower/toilet block, they were grim. Not cleaned on a daily basis, to be honest it must have been some time since the toilets had seen any bleach. In the showers there was no curtains and in one of the cubicles there was nowhere to hang your clothes. I was the only one out of 6 adults and 2 children, who braved the showers, and I only did it the once! Also no soap to wash your hands ! We did make our feelings known to the lady on the site but unfortunately things didn't get any better. Such a same as the site is lovely and the people who run it are very nice people.

Quiet, Family Site. Even on a Bank Holiday weekend there were only 12 pitches in use. The field is huge, so you can pitch near others (who all tend to pitch onto the shallow bank of the stream) or in the middle of nowhere. Most Tent doorways are pitched to open onto the stream, as everyone liked to sit and relax next to the bubbling brook (and no it doesn't keep you awake - probably the reverse!).
Tents are not in the same field as Caravans and there's little danger of any tent over-crowding because of the field is equiv to several football pitches. The site is surrounded by sprawling hills and farmland which is picturesque on hot sunny early mornings, when the odd cloud cuts the hills in half.
However hot it gets in the day, the field is open, so it will get chilly of a night and might get breezy in the day. The ground was soft soil / long grass (but previous month had been mainly rain). It's not a muddy or water-logged field. However, you might have to watch out for dried cow-pats (don't ask me why - perhaps they put cows in the field in the colder months!?) - but don't let me put you off, they're not that prevalent. This is a fantastic place.
Children will love playing in or around the stream and there is a car-tyre rope swing on the other-side of the stream. Dogs have to be kept on leads at all times. This isn't a 'teenagers drinking till 2am' type of site. Nor will you get 'rowdy families'. It is a very quiet site - even on a Bank Holiday!
There is no road noise or Farm animals within 6am earshot - as you normally get on a working farm - as the land is huge; even the entrance is a long tree-lined area that makes you think you are entering a national trust park.
Facilities: There is a basic shop for essentials (bread, cooking oil, eggs, bacon, etc and newspapers if you pre-order. There's also basic colouring books, pens, rubber balls for the children. There is no play area, but plenty of field, stream. The camping field is big enough for games.
Toilet block is basic. Outside Standpipe for water which runs into a grey waste grid; there is no chemical waste area. Kitchen area is fine: 3 indoor sinks with piping hot water. The toilet/shower area is in need of some TLC: ie. 3 Sinks with rust on the taps. 2 Showers with old tiles and grout that need replacing. A toilet brush left on the cubicle floor without a holder; A hand-dryer that didn't work and floor tiles that seem to have seen better days. No obvious signs of daily cleaning, as old items, such as toothpaste tubes were still in the same place when we left. However, the staff are polite, cheerful and helpful.
The site is tranquil and the stream really makes it ideal for families. I would consider going back, but probably just for a weekend. There's not much within the region, other than Llangollen and Bala. So you may have to travel a bit further (40m - 1hr travel) to vist places like Black Rock Sands, PorthMadog or Llandudno. But with kids, they would probably prefer to stay on-site, at this one, anyway.

Just the way I remember it from 20 years ago when I went as a kid (in a good way) unspoilt.

Basic site for relaxing and enjoying quiet countryside.

Toilets and showers basic but clean and the waters hot and there is always toilet roll.

There is a small site shop which stocks basics but Corwen is not far for other shopping.

Kids loved the stream as much as me and my brother did, paddling, building dams and playing Pooh sticks off the bridges.

No play area but who needs one with that much space and a stream, there is a nice safe park in Llandrillo.

Kids cant wait to go back in Aug.

TIP: if RAF goes over, it will be a nice day, not failed yet, we always head to Black Rocks Sands on these days.

The review below says everything I wanted to say so I have just put a few comments below.

Very quiet when we arrived - no one at reception - had to phone owner which proved difficult as mobile reception is poor.

Toilets were very poorly lit, grubby and for 2 people who love our shower's, we never used them in 4 day's!

Our pitch backed on to the little river which you will see on the site's web page. What the don't show you in the photo is that it looks directly on to the static caravan's at the other side of the bank (about 15 feet).

This is a working farm and you do get some noise (we got a surprise one afternoon when a shepherd and his flock trundled by - we whooped!

You do get some noise from tractors etc, but they are not bad.

We also got treated to 2 -4 fly by's a day by the RAF in their jet's which again, made us whoop!

Lovely view's and pitches are grass. You will need rock pegs as ground is hard and stoney.

Nice wee site but I would'nt go back.

Always happy to return to this site, excellent electric and water facilities lots of toilet and shower blocks. This is perfect for a relaxing weekend with children, highly recommended. There is an on site shop. No noise from anywere. Excellent scenery, I keep looking for new sites but none are as clean or quiet as this.

This site is very busy on bank hols, so would be better to book. Lovely site clean and tidy. Very much a family feel to it. Very small shop on site with just the bit you need, otherwise visit Corween its a nice place. The toilets are just being painted which is much needed. There very cold no heating otherwise its a very lovely site really is would go again.

We’ve just returned from a weekend at this site. We went there without the benefit of reading other reviews and had only the website to go off.

We arrived Friday lunchtime and, as arranged, telephoned the owners to let them know we’d arrived. We were told where to pitch and advised that they’d call to see us later in the day. Our pitch and the other vacant pitches backed onto the beautiful trout stream that wound it’s way through the site.

The pitch we had was spacious, but I’m not sure how much of that was due to the fact that we were there first, we tucked ourselves right back to the stream and we ‘staked our claim’ early. To be honest, there were no obvious ‘pitches’ and had the next tent pitched right back too, it would have been a little ‘cosy‘. Oh and I’d advise ‘rock’ pegs cos the ground is very stony. Well what do you expect in Wales.!
The web site says that there is a well-stocked shop and reception and information office with details of local attractions. There IS a shop-cum-reception but it is only really open for one hour per day selling essentials like bread, milk and breakfast stuff. But a really nice touch was that you could order a Sunday paper. They don’t stock them, but will get you one to read over Sunday breakfast.

There are two toilet blocks on site, but bearing in mind these are also open to the large static site, they can get busy. There were 4 ladies showers in total, and my other half reliably informs me that it was the same in the gents. When we got there on Friday we were told that the hot water would be turned on in the second block on Saturday. I was disappointed with the whole cleanliness and general standard of the toilet block. OK the water was hot and free but both blocks were a bit shabby, the floors were dirty, constantly soaking wet, very poorly lit and there was no heating in either block, a negative, considering the site is open up Easter - November.
The washing up room was inside, which I though was a great idea, especially in the rain. But once again it lacked a little TLC, with only two plugs for four sinks and no light bulb. Oh and the door jammed tight after I closed it, which cause a little panic..!But the water was hot.!

The site it’s self was kept very clean and tidy, and had the feeling of a family site. It reminded me a bit of the kind of sites my parents took me to when I was a kid. There was no play area for the kids, no pub or entertainment on site, the kind of place that you used for a base for exploring from and are glad of the peace and quiet to come back to at night and enjoy the breath taking views of the surrounding mountains and forests.
