We visited with 4 other family groups on the 30th May for 2 nights.
The location is very nice, with beautiful views as you drive to the area and then into the site.
We had 5 family tents with 11 adults and 10 kids. The lower tent field was empty when we arrived, although there was no-one at the farmhouse to check us in. The farmer's daughter told us to just pitch anywhere. We picked a corner spot, closest to the river access path.
We were visited later on by a lady, (possibly the owner ?) who didn't ask us if we were ok, or tell us if we were even in the correct place. She did point out that we owed £200.00 ! Nice welcome.
The field was nice and level and wasn't waterlogged even after torrential rain the night before. There were several 240V hook-up points, but they were in boxes of 4. We were lucky that our hook-up had an extra long lead. All the hook-ups were around the perimeter, which would make camping away from the edge of the field difficult in busy times.
As the field was nice and quiet, we had plenty of room to play rounders, cricket and footy with the kids. Although I would guess that in peak times, any space would be very limited, due to the shape of the field. (We camp for the children, so contrary to many reviewers, welcome noise and plenty of children to join in !)
The local area is lovely as well. We ventured into Pately Bridge for some shopping and for fish and chips. It's only 4 miles away has a small supermarket for essentials.
The positives for our group were the scenery and the river. The kids spent hours on the stepping stones and swimming, the river was only a 2 minute stroll from the corner of the camping field.
The negatives were the amenities and the cost. The toilet/shower block is very basic and they clearly do not have the capability to produce enough hot water. There were 2 showers in the mens side. We were told that they took 20p coins to operate. I tried and failed to get any water other than very cold. I tried 2 coins and had no luck. Some people had been in and got hot water without paying earlier on in the morning.
I wondered if there was a small hot water tank and when the water is gone, it's gone.
The toilets were clean though.
We have camped in various locations in Yorkshire and we will not be returning to this one.
Everyone agreed that £40 a tent was way to much, to basically camp in a field for a couple of nights.
We have stayed places with a kids play area, small shop and large well equipped shower blocks for much less than this.
VERDICT: beautiful place but overpriced and basic amenities.

We stayed here over the last may bank hoilday with our group of family campers. Just like the other reviews say, it is a little gem. The camping field is level with electric hook up and sheltered by trees. We had a nice stroll by the river nidd into the village, where there's a couple of nice shops and local pubs. The facilities are basic but ok, there's only one shower in the mens and you had to get there early if you wanted hot water. We had a few problems though, the electric kept tripping out and had one night without it because a box in the caravan tier shorted out, and god it was cold that night. The other was a small group, with a couple of small children and a baby, who one night tried to set fire to their gazebo,(or so it looked that way) with no consideration for others around them or their children. Never the less, we (ourselves) had a good time and for only £20 a night would go back but not on a bank holiday.

We were lucky to get a last minute booking here for the Bank Holiday, and arrived down a very steep hill to find this delightful site nestling close to the river Nidd. The site is spread out over 3-4 tiers but there is only one shower / toilet block so could imagine rather a hike for the campers who were at the bottom, but the showers were clean and hot never the less. Tv reception is very poor expect to play with your aeriel quite a lot. We had a marvelous time walking across the stepping stones by the river and deciding which path to take, most of them lead to a pub in Dacre or Darley. We will be returning as its only an hour from home, what a little gem

Second visit to this peaceful site next to the River Nidd, we love the beautiful setting and the children love playing in the river. Stepping Stones are great fun and there are plenty of local walks. New showers since our last visit and they are great, plenty of hot water and room to get changed. Level pitches with plenty of space.

This site is in lovely grounds on a working farm. The site has caravans and statics tiered in terraces up a steep bank and the camping area is a large flat field at the bottom of the hill - a fair distance from the toilet block. I would say that this site would best suit reasonably self-sufficient campers in that beyond the toilet block, water points, two swings and two purpose-built BBQs there is little else provided on site. Summerbridge itself is a long walk away, either alongside the River Nidd or on a very busy road with no footpath. The Royal Oak pub mentioned in a previous review is actually in Dacre Banks and whilst it serves nice beer from Rudgate Brewery, the food is pricey. The pub actually in Summerbridge itself is owned by Samuel Smiths brewery of Tadcaster, which means the beer is an astonishing £1.30 per pint! We had no difficulty with the showers but we did use them at a quiet time (4.30pm Sat) when we presumably weren't sharing our 20p-worth of hot water with anyone else. The stepping-stones were fine but not for the faint-hearted - they're big but sloping and a good distance apart, even for adults. There were some families playing in the water when we returned from an 8-mile hike up the valley and the stepping-stones were wet and very slippy - yup, you guessed it, I fell in! The busy Indian restaurant in Pateley Bridge is recommended but requires two pieces of forward planning : a) it only sells soft drinks, so call at the Spar shop next door for supplies beforehand (they will provide glasses); and b) at the time of our visit, it didn't accept payments by credit or debit cards - cash only. All in all, this is a nice relaxed site in a wonderful location but you need to accept its limitations.

Have been to this site twice recently. Very nice location, close to river, and loads of wildlife (bats, owls etc) in field between site and river. However, it can get very crowded, with little effort made by owners to ensure space between pitches, or to control noise and nuisance from large groups with teenage kids kicking balls everywhere and loud music. Also the hot water in the shower block appears to be on a timer which makes it unavailable, even to wash hands, from midnight to 7 am. Would not return during school holidays, but would be lovely outside peak season.

A beautiful well established site, laid out over several tiers with plenty of trees and shrubs. The owners were very friendly and made us feel welcome, they let us choose our own pitch. Lovely walks and a river close by which children were enjoying playing in. The only thing to let it down were the showers which were 20pence and nothing more than a trickle.

I'm sorry to say I was a little disappointed after reading all the wonderful reviews. The campsite itself is lovely, in a beautiful setting. There seemed to be lots of space around the caravans which were separate to the tent area. There were a couple or quite large groups who were very noisy, playing TV/DVD's past midnight. The showers were freezing cold in the men's and women's and very short. On balance it was average, with the location scoring extra points. For anyone staying here or nearby i can highly recommend the food at the Royal Oak in Summerbridge, it's fab!

One of the best yet that we've been to! Why - because it was in a beautiful setting, exellent pitches basic but adequate facilities inc baths & showers, laundry, freezer for ice blocks etc. Family friendly ideal for kids plenty of space for them to run around, stream close by and best of all with an escape artist of a 3yr old its away from the main road! Very friendly owners. No onsite shop but can stock up in viilage shop which is not over priced which is a couple of minutes in car or a moderate walk. Fish and chips can be deliverd to site if ordered between 5-7pm on a Friday which is ideal if you've just arrived after travelling miles and have hungry folk to feed who don't want to wait.

june 2002 we really liked this site, large flat pitches and friendly owners. theres a river nearby with stepping stones which the kids enjoyed playing on. the showers were good and there were individual bathrooms with huge baths in. washers, tumble dryers, ironing boards all provided. 5 minutes from brimham rocks, we really enjoyed it - will go again.
