Nice flat pitch with ample parking and lovely views across the lake. £10 deposit for shower block fob and key to main gates for entry/exit after 7pm, two gates to get through, main gate and another onto the actual camping area, very secure!
The shower block was always lovely and warm with plenty of very hot water. We didn't spend a lot of time on site as we were visiting family in the area, but when we needed to speak to staff they were trendily and helpful.
Bedwllty Park in the town of Tredegar is worth a visit, beautiful grounds and a lovely cafe with good reasonably priced food.
One of the highlights of our stay at Bryn Bach was a very friendly cat who broke into our tent one night! Not a problem after we zipped up our doors properly!

Set in the most wonderful site with fantastic views over the lake in a lovely part of the country and very accessible.
Good points – It’s council run therefore fantastic value, very clean, friendly staff, constant hot water with good showers and washing facilities and great sized pitches with EHU. The route around the lake is nearly a mile long and great for bikes, runners or just a walk plus there’s a two mile off road route for mountain bikes, a good sized park for the kids and a BMX track as well as a 9 hole golf course.
Bad points – It’s council run therefore signs everywhere telling you what you can and can’t do i. E. No noise after 11pm but no staff to enforce said rule, no swimming here, no fishing there, no flips flops – you get the picture. One of the reasons to come here was the facility to hire bikes to go off with the kids or hire a pedalo to go out on the lake but the rules are that these facilities are not available if the weather is forecast to be inclement – inclement weather forecast in the UK when isn’t it?
Anyway if you fancy some dinner that doesn’t come out of a tin or done on a BBQ we cannot recommend more highly the Mountain Air pub at Llwynhelyg Nant Y Bach 1 mile down the road - NP22 3SD. Family friendly, great food, carvery on a Sunday and great beer. All said once we see a favourable weather forecast we will return to Bryn Bach.

Lovely location with nice easy access. All pitches of generous size with hardstanding which is made of decorative 'cut out' shaped concrete. Our pitch was at front of site directly facing beautiful large lake with pretty small forestry area with grassed small mountain at rear. Our pitch was adequately sized for our awning with room to park car at rear of caravan if facing toward lake as we were. Room also for gazebo if required all at no additional cost. At time of our visit the cost of our pitch with EHU which including two adults, one dog & awning was £14. 70 per night. Watch the world go by whilst relaxing with a nice glass of wine! Our pitch was approx four metres from lakeside which was separated by small two rung fencing approx three feet in height with pathway separating from lakeside where visitors to park either stroll, cycle or jog by - not at all intrusive we felt. Dogs are to be keep on a lead at all times with a hefty fine imposed by park wardens if not adhered to - being responsible dog owners we felt this a refreshing change our dog is always kept on lead at all times as we are aware that not everyone welcomes our four legged friends running around unsupervised. By enlarge this enforcement was made during our stay, but as usual there are always irresponsible owners who simply don't follow the rules & therefore run the risk of being fined. Arrival on site must be before 6. 30pm as country park visitor centre closes each day around 7pm & this is where pitch fees are paid & keys for EHU etc are obtained. £10 deposit us required for keys which include key to CDP & fob for entry to washroom
/toilets. We ourselves used our onboard washroom but checked out site facilities which were kept lovely & warm (as weather during our visit was unseasonally chilly!) and consisted of large communal changing area with bench area. Separate toilet/washbasin area with individual showers which appeared quite roomy. All facilities are modern partitioned style and appeared to be reasonably clean but could perhaps benefit from more regular checks by staff to ensure paper towels etc are not left strewn on floor, as was the case during our visit. This was our first visit to this site and we would most definitely recommend & visit again.

Very nice welcome! There was plenty of room per pitch with paved area next to it enough for 2 cars. Beautiful views of the water but with fencing around the camp/caravan area, so safe for the children to play.
Toilets and showers area clean and tidy. Washing machine and dryer plus washing up area with hot water 24/7, £10 deposit for secure fob key to the shower etc block and main gate key.
Cafe on site hot/cold meals and snacks with very friendly staff with a little shop for sweets and ice cream. Large playground with lots to play on.
You can hire bikes (even for the little ones) my son aged 12 loved riding around the lake. BMX track and golf but we didn't use them however they looked great fun.
All in all we had a great holiday and would definitely recommend and return!

Bryn Bach is amazing, and has to be one of Wales best kept secrets. Facilities wise, its basic, but clean and tidy. Staff are friendly, laid back and helpful. We have stayed here many times, and love it more every time!
Whilst the facilities are not luxurious, the setting is 10 star. Set in a country park, the site overlooks the lake, where you can go fishing (subject to permits etc). There is a beautiful walk around the lake, totally wheelchair accessible. The wildlife is stunning, and you can buy bird food from the visitors centre to feed the ducks/geese and swans.
Great play park, within the park, close enough to walk to in a few minutes, but at the same time you don't get noise from play park in the camping area as its blocked by the visitors centre. Which meant when my children woke up at the crack of dawn, we could take them to the play park where they could play to their hearts content without disturbing the others site residents.
Brilliant site and one of our favourites

This was our first time camping in Wales and we loved it here. The staff are really friendly, the shower and toilet facilities are great, and it was very peaceful there.
It's set beside a beautiful lake, and you can hire bikes for an hour upwards for really good rates. We tried out the golf driving range, enjoyed tea in the cafe and generally made the most of it.
Nearby are plenty of shops (a brilliant Morrisons), so for us novices we were able to get hold of all the things we didn't think to take!
We'd certainly be very happy to go back.

July 2005 Slightly boggy and rather in need of a tidy up, though overlooking attractive country park with lake, nice walks, good kiddies' playground (with a roundabout for kids in wheelchairs which I'd never seen before). But our visit was spoiled by extremely rowdy families, which apparently it attracts, who let kids run round until 2am. I was nearly knocked over by a boy on a bike in the dark. Toilets weren't very clean, ones in adjacent visitor centre were positively dirty. Okay if you have your own facilities on board. Atleast it is much better now than what it was as I remember it 20 years ago - a coal tip!
