Just spent 3 days at the site and it was the perfect get away, we booked from the Sunday evening onwards to avoid the weekend rush which paid off. Amazing setting right by the river, good fishing, very good priced canoeing and most importantly for me fires were allowed, now that's camping !

Site owner was very friendly and delivered fire wood to your tent and the pub which was very close proved very convenient. Will definitely be going back !

Very basic site down a track by the pub. Very quiet and pitch where you like by the river. Lady came round in the mornings and evenings to collect the fee (2 adults, 2 tents and a car = £18 for 2 nights) The ground was excellent, a veritable carpet of grass.
A lot of canoeists use this site and when we were there, there were a fair few children running about. Lots of signs around asking to keep the noise down and not to pick up fallen wood but wood is sold if needed. Lots of fire pits and also picnic tables dotted about. I would definitely visit this site again.

A lovely basic site, a real camping experience. No caravans or motorhomes are allowed. The facilities are a few taps and six portaloos. No showers - but we went to the swimming pool in Ross on Wye to freshen up!
You pitch where you like when you arrive and the site owner comes round in their car to collect the money and offer logs for sale if you want a fire. There is so much space for the kids to run around in and its all flat.
We pitched next to the river and there was a fence to stop the kids getting too close to the river. It is a beautiful spot, dogs are welcome and were often running free. The pub is lovely and very welcoming with a sign outside saying 'Children, dogs and muddy boots welcome' which is a refreshing change! The food and beer are all local and very good.
The only downside for me was that there is a music ban as the site may be closed if its too noisy, but some campers did not respect this which annoyed me. There are no set pitches so you can set up where you like, and big tents are accepted (although I was a bit self conscious as most other people had little two man tents!). We will definitely go back.

Had a nice two night break here recently. Site is nice and quiet and you just pitch where there is space. Facilities are basic with just a couple of taps and 5 portaloos which after a busy weekend were pretty smelly. There were quite a few boats/canoes launching which the kids liked to watch. The River was flowing pretty quickly while we were there so we needed to keep an eye on the kids. The best thing though is they allow campfires. I think logs can be purchased locally but we went as a group and took our own. It was great sitting round a roaring fire as the night rolled in drinking a few beers. The local pub is nice and although we didn't try the food the real ale is well kept. We could see our camper from the beer garden it's that close. Not sure if I could do much more than a couple of nights without showers etc but its great for a weekend break.

Stopped here for a night while canoeing down the river Wye, it's a very basic site with a tap and a portaloo being the extent of the facilities, which is just what we wanted. You can have camp fires here as well.
There's a landing area down by the river but can be a bit tricky getting equipment / boats up and down the bank especially if its been raining. The owner of the site came around in the car to collect the fee which was something like 2 or 3 pounds. Nice site with nice views, shame about the weather though :)

We used this site while canoeing the Wye. It is basic (running water and portaloo's) but adequate for stopovers. It has a canoe launch and the site is totally flat. It's huge advantage is the New Harp Pub, a stroll across the field, so good you have to book if you want to eat any evening. There is also an Italian style church and of course, the river making this a very picturesque and tranquil site.

This is a lovely campsite on the banks of the River Wye. Very easy access from the road at Hoarwithy. Bang next door to a great pub. Also offers launching access for canoes to the river. We all had a great time in a lovely part of the world
